*snaps out of it*Nice pic! Did you say something, Nick?

I saw:

The Host - The DVD cover read, "On a par with Jaws", uh-huh. Jaws must've sucked pretty bad. Host starts out pretty good. Big lizard monster from Han River(S. Korea) going on rampage is both funny, and amusing. Unfortunately, that stops rather quickly. Everything stops making sense, then it gets really slow, which, at least for me, killed this movie.

Interesting effort, and it is different, but no, it is not on par with Jaws. "C-".

P.S. Also, I felt that they were unnecessarily demonizing the U.S. in this film. Another nonsense in the movie.

 There's Mary Elizabeth Winstead too. :sly:

DWA
edit: Oh yeah... I hope our government wouldn't be that stupid as what happen in the movie. Scary stuff yet... somehow I'm not as bothered by it as I should. I mean "disconnecting" for a while doesn't sound that bad. :dopey:
That's just typical of the Die Hard movies. John McClane steps in when the government goes retarded.

Die Hard: Cops refuse to pay attention until a dead body falls on a car and they start getting shot at.
Die Harder: Airport security believes that the guys with guns playing with their computers were just trying to steal luggage.
Die Hard with a Vengeance: The FBI thinks it is all just a revenge plot while the bad guys are taking all the gold from the Federal Reserve.

Well and the fact they further re-enforced that by saying I'm that guy (McClane) because no one else will. So yeah, I could've given it my usual "LET IT DIE" but out of all the "LET IT DIE" films lately this one is probably the best.

Tonight - I will be watching "The Host" - Pretty friggin' good apparently..

I will report back later !...

Kelly's Heroes - 9/10 A classic WWII war movie with an interesting plot twist from your typical WWII movie. It was more fantastic that the first time I watched it years ago thanks to 2.35 and HD.

I saw The Simpsons Movie on thursday. It was my first experience in the Gold Class Theatre, I had pizza and beer served to me at the start of the film.
The movie was fantastic, I really enjoyed it. It turned out to be so much better than recent seasons of the TV series. Hopefully up and coming episodes will be just as funny as they used to be!

Watched a few over the last few weeks.

1) Harry Potter & The Order Of The Phoenix: As you all know im a fan of thr HP books and I do like the movies, this for me was like the Goblet Of Fire, it jumped around too much and totally skewed the plot from the book, but as a film for films sake it was poor and a total wreck, given that fact I had gone through the book twice was the only reason I actually knew what was going on, or maybe this was what let the film down for me, the prisoner of azkaban was the best film so far. ***/*****

2) The Patriot: After giving my DVD copy away and getting the extended cut on BD I have found that I still like this film, not one of Gibsons best films, but its good. The extended bit were, let say, not very extended and didn't add much to the film, but it was a refreshing change from the normal DVD version I had. ****/*****

3) Snakes On A PLane: As this was my first viewing of this film and hearing all about it, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I actually liked this film despite the lame plot and poor acting, it was fun and a great distraction for an hour or so. ***/****

4) Enemy Of The State: Will smith was once one of the guys I respected most in film and TV, he seemed to pick good things to make, and occasinally made the wrong choice too. I don't want to spend 2 hours going over all his ups and downs, but the film in question was definite and up, after never owning this movie on DVD only on VCD I had to get it on BD, and i'm glad I did, while the film itself is great and a good espionage movie the BD picture was a let down, No I wasn't expecting The patriot to be a stunning image and it wasn't (it was good but not great) but I was expecting this to be a truly great image, but alas I was shot down from my flights of fancy. ****/*****

5) Pirates Of The Caribbean 1 & 2: Both nice films, with a great turn by JD even if the other main characters are a little wooden, but a strong script and great locations and props make these films worth watching more than once, the one thing tho about the two films (and i'm expecting the third to be the same) is the special effects, they are fantastic and make for some lovely eye candy and this is what BD is made for and I can truly say that if you have a top end HDTV and a BD player you have to own Pirates Of The Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest, the image in this films is the best i've seen so far.

I really liked this movie (I did hate Jaw's - So sue me :D) the ending was a bit pants, but I liked the light hearted bits, I do agree that the plot gets a little lost as the main characters split up, but still a fun movie.

Sprite: I really like the "Enemy Of The State", also. I still don't own this film on DVD, because for the longest time, they did not have the anamorphic widescreen version. Too bad it's another mediocre transfer for this film. I'd still get it on Blu-ray though, when I get the PS3.

On "The Host", yeah, I did like the comedy in the film. Like I said in my post though, just about everything in the film stopped making sense for me. It was just all over the place with actions and events that made no sense. Ending was even more unbelievable. :guilty:

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - (7/10)
I put this on par with Goblet of Fire. The book had too much happening to be able to cover it in a film short enough to keep the attention of kids. I felt like we were jumping about, ignoring character details and interactions and then we were suddenly at Christmas. From this point it suddenly began to smooth out and make a bit more sense, only to not explain the romantic part for more than a few seconds before it was over. It enetertained but something was missing, fortunately we had some good wizard battles.

Open Season - (5/10)
Um....how many wild animals enter captivity and freak out movies can we make? And how many tame animals thrown into the wild movies can we make. Kids will love it, I struggled to stay awake. Unfortunately, this was my first Blu-Ray movie ever.

Black Snake Moan - (8.5/10)
Fortunately, this was my second Blu-Ray movie. This was a good drama with a potential to be great, but it left some of the details to be worked out by the viewer, which left my wife sitting at the end asking what happened. She agreed the story, writing, and acting were all pretty good, minus Justin Timberlake (someone could have warned us, I didn't know he was in it). She just couldn't piece together what the deal was with each person and how it all tied together. Although, I must say that for good, southern Christian folks they cuss an awful lot, even the preacher.

The Simpsons Movie: I went in expecting a pretty good film, and I was for the most part correct. There was a pretty steady dose of laughs going about the theater, some moments where I laughed when others didn't, but by the end it just felt like a really "special" episode of the same show I get for free on TV. Was it bad? No, it wasn't. Was it particularly good? I'd say no to that as well.

The days of the excellent Simpsons episodes seem to be long-gone, and with a nearly two-decade run on television, its beginning to show.

7/10

Die Hard 4.0
I guess I'll quote myself from the Die Hard thread, from yesterday:
I just watched it today and it has to go up as one of my favorite movies. It's definitely the best movie of '07 for me, pretty much the equivalent of what Batman Begins was for 2005.

I would probably give it an 8.5 rating.

The Good Shepherd 7.5
While a little long, it kept me interested

Seraphim Falls 7.0
It was good, but after seeing the ending, it felt a little pointless.

The Believer 8.0
This one was awesome throughout and I recommend it if you're looking for another neo-nazi themed movie.

United States of Leland 7.0

Shooter 7.75
It felt like a rip-off of the Bourne series, but you can't go wrong with a sniper movie.
Still unsure why they wanted to kill him, except that they did
Deja Vu 7.25
I think the "going back in time" was implemented really well in this movie.

Kickboxer 4 6.25
It was terrible, but it was great as an unintentional comedy.

Flyboys 7.0
A decent movie about a couple of Americans who enlisted in the French "air force" during WWI. The love story was a little cheesy.

Nothing But Trouble - 8/10 I don't know why, but I love this movie. It's so stupid, so retarded... never mind.

Force 10 From Navarone - I couldn't watch it any longer. It wasn't in HD. How the hell some of you people can continue watching that crap, I'll never know.

Thank You For Smoking - 6/10 - It was an ok a movie, kind of different from what i'm used to but it was ok and somewhat entertaining.

The Host - A pretty good film this, if a bit slow & slightly all over the place. The humour was really good tho.
7/10

Outlaw - Excellent film this. I think Blair/Brown should give this a watch :D. A bit overly violent, but i guess you needed it. Was nice to see Danny Dyer getting a kickin' haha.
8/10

Open Season - Better than some of the animated crap i've seen recently.
6/10

The Art of War - Wesley Snipes last cinema release i think (in the UK). A bit slow, but pretty good. And the finale gun fight may only last like 20 seconds, but its "freakin sweet".
7/10

The Simpsons Movie - This is everything that the rescent episodes of The simpsons has been lacking. Very funny. Although it does seem cheap giving this a high score. I mean its 350 episodes old.
8/10

Transformers - I have a huge review of this on myspace, but to sumarise. THIS IS AWESOME!!
9/10

I was agreeing with you, but then remembered the "Blade" films. I love Snipes, but all he does are infomercials and straight-to-DVD flicks, these days. :guilty:

Hot Fuzz: What a bloody brilliant film! I hadn't had that much fun watching a movie in a long time, as I was in a pretty constant state of laughter throughout it. Being a pretty big fan of action films, the nature of the film was quite funny, picking up on different bits and pieces from some of my favorites.

Good fun, and I'm happy I bought the DVD.

9/10: Only deducted a point because it took so bloody long to get to the car chase I was promised on Top Gear...

Forever Mine - 6/10 An older movie but an interesting one because of Joseph Fiennes. Starting to like that guy.

RV - 6/10 Hmm... well it was a stupid movie but a funny one in parts.

300 - Better than I expected. Talk about action packed. If this movie was a racing game, I guess it would be NFS style, not GT(Arcadey). While I thought it started sucking towards the end, it still was very entertaining overall. "B"

OMG, how could i forget the Blade films. I love them, well except Trinity, its ok as a stand alone film, but as a Blade film it kind of sucked.
I keep seeing bits of the 1st Blade on Sky recently. Its still a great film.
8 or 9/10.

Harry Potter And the pheonix thing 6/10
No problem with it really, but it was nothing special. Needed more of Emma Watson!

Simpsons Movie 8/10
Nothing spectacular but certinaly kept me entertained for the whole length.

Transformers 8/10
Enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. Perhaps helped that I had a Transformer aficionado on hand to help with some of the smaller details.Still good though, great action scenes, some humour.

(bits of) The Last Boy Scout - This film is so flippin' good! Hilarious & just damn good fun.
9/10

Click - Better than i remembered. The ending is quite sad, but very out of place with the rest of the film. The radio bit with Britney/Federline & Michael Jackson were great.
7/10

The wicker man(remake) - In no way was this as bad as i had read. If anything Cage's character was better than the one in the original, he was less of a rude idiot. The end still isnt scary, like when i saw the original. And to people that say the original is, try re-watching it and then tell me it is.
I say this because the original scared the crap out of my mum so much so that she wouldn't watch it when i got it on DVD. After eventual persuasion she did and couldn't see the fuss at all.
6/10

Farce of the penguins - Very funny in bits. Very boring in other bits.
6/10
