What's eating at Lewis Hamilton?

The body language of today's top three qualifiers speaks volumes. As you can imagine Vettel is very happy, relaxed, chatting away. Jenson is much the same - he and Vettel are joking away like they were at a track day or karting weekend! But Lewis is constantly separated, stiff and unemotional. You have to say it was Lewis' fault not to get a final qualifying lap in, but you also have to think all this is linked in some way.

He needs a reset. I don't think the end of this season can come quick enough for him.

The sunglasses only come out when he is not feeling good, he obviously has a good reason to be upset, he threw away a really good chance of making pole position considering his time on the used tyres it was well within his reach.

I look at the clock and can't believe I'm still not sleeping - haunted by that post qualifying picture. I feel for Hamilton because he obviously had a chance to be on pole but whether his team or the mistake was solely on his own is not knowned by me. I think he needs to stay calm and accept the reality. Still a race to go but those sunglasses isn't good enough to hide his dissapoinment.

What a season for him I must say. The best way for him now is to sit down and let all the frustrations out. Talk with his dad, teams, engineers, physio or anybody close with hope that it would gain his confidence and attitude back.

I wish him good luck for the race tomorrow.

Another race, another crash, another step closer to the wall of shame. Luca Badoer is waiting for you.

I take it as a racing incident though I'm pretty sure it wasn't intentional. No penalty awarded to him so I don't think he would be fuming after the race but rather a little dissapointed for missing out the possible podium finish.

I have hopes on him to get back to his usual form.

The problem now is that Hamilton can't drive this car as well as Button now and he's making too many mistakes trying to make that up, moving over on Massa was exactly what he did on Kobayashi at Spa, he needs to learn from mistakes (and use his mirrors) if he ever wants to be number 1 again.

But the problem is he's not learning... He's now driving like a drunken driver and is almost getting out of control. I think what he needs now is somebody close to him to drive him back on to the right path. Whether it's his dad, engineers, physio, girlfriend or anybody.

Use his mirrors...?

How far are we into the season? How experienced is this driver?

I don't buy the "mirrors" excuse for a minute.

He said this after the race:

"The only thing I have to say is that I can't see anything in my mirrors; they vibrate so much down the straight and I had no idea he was there so maybe that's something we can fix and then I won't have [any] problems with him."

Yes, I know what he said. I don't buy it as an excuse.

It's not like his mirrors haven't been vibrating all season...

Ya but he's been hitting people all season too...

I think all he needs is his dad back as his manager. He's not learning anything, throwing out a lot of excuses, making rivals and destroying other's race.

For those who weren't sure (like me), I just checked and his 5 year contract ends after the 2012 season :mischievous: This will sure add some spice to next season on top of what's already brewing.

Likewise. A pathetic excuse. That Hamsta poster is priceless by the way. "Anthony Hamilton as "unwanted dad""

And why doesnt Button have the same mirror problems?

Plus, how come mclaren can make a race/championship winning car but not one with usable mirros?

Hamilton is running out of excuses...

To be fair to Hamilton, it's not the first time, or the las time that drivers have complained about F1 mirrors being pretty useless. Brundle has often commented on this during TV coverage.

While that is true, it is no excuse for what is going on. Lewis is a Formula one world champion. If his mirrors were useless, he would have spoken about it by now. It's just another pathetic excuse, and you can see in his demeanor that something is clearly wrong. The fact that is him having all these accidents and not Jenson, suggests that it is a problem with him.

No kidding... must be down to the mirrors then and not reprimandable driving, since that's what he said it was this time.

Most of his contacts have been where he's behind have they not? I don't think his mirrors excuse holds much water there :sly:

On the other hand Jenson's mirrors in Canada held a lot of water, because the track was soaking wet.

He seemed a bit odd today, like overdoing the emotion and trying to make a point of it.

Must admit I don't know what personal troubles he has or have things got worse just recently, maybe the papers are ripping him to shreads?

He's got a beautiful girlfriend, reached the elite or motor racing. Even if he's having some GF problems, spilt up or be it some family angst with his dad, seems very perculier. Like I said I know he's on a bit of a downer and can understand him showing some emotion.
