What's your real life benchmark?

-No driving license-

But i have driven:

Vauxhall Astra (Early 00s model)
Vauxhall Corsa (late 90s model)
BMW 325 convertible
Peogeut 205 diesel (91 model i think)

Thats about it. I have no idea on specific models as you can see. Also, i havn't driven any of these at speed. I don't think i have been faster than 30mph when behind the wheel.

So this leaves me a very unreliable source of feedback on GTs realism huh

I had the Mazda 6 hummin' at 120mph for a couple miles last night... this car is so much better than everything else I have driven in the past. I was taking slight turns at full speed and I was having no doubts that this car was made to go faster than the governor will let it go. Hopefully we get some 2 lane roads that are on the side of the Appalachian Mountains, so there is a wall of rocks/ trees on one side and a guardrail on the other, so I can say whether the sense of speed is accurate or not in GT5.

I can tell you from my experience this year that Snow + Steep Hill + 3-series = backwards.

Got me a few days off work, not being able to get out of my street.

:)

Scaff

yeah those 255's on the back might not "cut" into the snow well LOL

My 1999 Altima, with and without ABS (fun experiment, try at own risk!).

Probably should never be in any racing game.

I had a 1999 Ford Explorer (Exploder as we called it) and its ABS was not funtional, along with a lot of other things. But it is pretty fun locking up the front tires going about fifty and making a bunch of noise and smoke, as well as leaving some rubber for all the neighbors to see  Good times!

I drive a Z33 350Z on Dunlop Z1 SS tires and it matches up pretty well to the 350Z/Fairlady Z in GT5P, sim physics, S1 tires. If they put Mid-Ohio in GT5 I might even be able to set up a real life comparo haha.

Currently drive a Legacy 2.5GT Spec-B. The closest model to mine in GT5 is going to get a LOT of miles in the game.

Have driven: A3 (DSG & Stick), A4 (many), A5, Integra GSR, 997 Carrera S, Cayman S, 08 WRX, Evo X, and 3000GT

Was in the passenger's seat of both a 993 Turbo and an F430 being driven in anger. I would give just about anything to actually get behind the wheel of either of those.

On a side note, my ST-2 is being chopped in for an RS now... just don't tell the missus! :sly: All I need is Mountune to offer upgrades for the RS...

Colour suggestions would be welcome though guys, I'm tempted to go for green, but its abit lary...

At the moment my main benchmark will be the Spitfire (assuming it makes it over from GT4 & PSP), though they got the handling completely wrong in GT4 so hopefully its a lot more accurate this time.

Other than that I doubt any of the other cars will make it into the game, given that the Bora I drive day to day was only in the last game as the 4wd version, and for Mercedes they typically only have the top AMG models...

Well I have 2 cars, a 1984 Porsche 911 and a 2001 Ford KA 1.3

Guess which one will be included in the ultimate driving simulator :grumpy:

I drive a ford focus 2007 1.8 TDCI 115PK, sport suspension & 18" rims.
I drive my parents' car too : a ford galaxy 2004 with eibach springs.
And I've driven a mg tf once, and haha a citroën jumper.

On track is similar to Stotty I think he went to the Palmer sport track day. Chaterham 7, Clio cup racer, 350Z, 911 GT3 RS, Formula Palmer Audi and the JP2 which I always say is like a baby Le mans car o my mate who don't know much about cars!

Yes, I did the JP Motorsports Experience... an absolutely fabulous day out. So much better than the usual 'track driving experience' as they actually allow (and encourage) you to drive up to and beyond the limits of the car as long as you show a reasonable amount of talent and mechanical sympathy. My abiding memories of the days are....

1. The absolutely absurd amount of oversteer you got in the Clio on slicks on a cold, damp track... and that it would always come back if you kept your foot in

2. Driving the JP1 in the rain... stupidly fast and horrendously scarey!

I still have my telemetry print out comparing my lap in the FP Audi against the lap record set by Justin Wilson.

Expensive, but worth every single penny.

Ewww, gross. I mean it's a fun experiment to do right. Once, while parking speedily, I locked up the wheels and lost composure, but that's it (thankfully I didn't hit my friend's car!).

I mean it's more fun to hold the car just past the limit of grip, tyres screaming in pain as you approach a corner ever so slightly sideways, and just whoosh through it on a magnificent wave of speed, noise, and -perhaps most importantly- talent.

And that was when I flattened some bushes. Decreasing-radius hairpins, eh?

I have a 1991 Ford Ranger XLT Single Cab.It has 1970 Mustang Mach 1 rims, which is pretty cool. Although I don't see that being in a GranTurismo game anytime soon.

I'm lucky enough to work at a high end dealership. Volvo, Mercedes, Porsche and Infiniti.
However, my daily driver is an Infiniti G35 Coupe.

I drive a Fiat Punto Active sport and have driven it as fast as it goes on bendy and bumpy roads which isn't very fast. The closest GT4 had to this was the HGT Abarth though which is much faster and with better handling which I guess GT5 would have too.

My daily drive is a Clio 192 which i have taken to a few track days and mountain roads, really fun car to drive with some lift off oversteer. When I played GT4 I didn't own that car yet so it is hard to remember and compare. However it seems quite similar to the Integra in GT5P, the difference is that the Integra is a lot quicker both in acceleration and through corners but the feel, turn in and lift off oversteer is very similar (try it in Eiger Reverse if you don't believe me). I have also driven in track a race moddified VW Beetle ('71), in which I spun out in the first corner of the race and never drove it again =(. Very very different from the one in GT4 as it had more power and stiffer suspension. Also a few laps in a ('71) Renault R8s but not in the full limit.

I consider myself pretty lucky, I used to drive a volvo 240dl with a roll cage that my old boss gave to me that he used to race SCCA in Connecticut. My girlfriend at the time hated it (so did her parents!) Then I bought a Toyota Camry and decided I would never drive a 4banger again.

After that I traded in the Camry and bought 98 infiniti i30t stick, which I still own and drive here and there and will probably give to my brother if the asshole ever learns how to drive like a real person. uncultured swine. I dont drive that one much though as my currents are a '07 I35 which is my daily, '05 F250 for side work and an '86 jeep diesel with a 5" lift and 35" rubber.

Hmm, I've had a limited number of "interesting" cars. The first car with at least some power I owned and enjoyed ragging around with was a E30 325i. That was 15 years ago, for the time (or me) a rather fast vehicle. And I enjoyed a Passat VR6 for a while, nice sound, but thirsty and of course with the wrong axle powered. Right now I mainly drive my Defender, but the make is as close as it get's to a Range Rover Sport should that be featured again in GT5 LOL.

As my "benchmarks" I would put in:
A.) worked for a Lotus Tuner once developing a tuning upgrade for the '96 Elise. Was at Spa with a customer for testing, but not allowed to drive myself (insurance issues :nervous:), but I got plenty of k's under my belt with that beast on public roads.
B.) My Integrale (see avatar left :)). Did track days on the DTM Track Oschersleben, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand yes: Nordschleife. A fantastic drive, much more powerful (even in standard spec) than GT5P makes you believe. I've driven the Golf V Gti a lot, which is slotted in with more PP than the Inte: an absolute joke, the GTi doen't even have a snow flakes chance in hell against the Lancia. It takes a properly driven R32 to challange IMO.
C.) Oh yeah, (future benchmark if anything alike is in the game): bought a '79 Datsun 1800SSS recently. Busy building it up for track days, planning on racing vintage and marque class with it, but no experience on that as of yet.

I have a Mazda RX8, granted I've never gunned it round a racetrack on slicks (the wife would never let me anyway!) but I do like to throw it around country roads. One thing I will say is that it has a lot more torque in the lower rev range than the GT5P version which is just awful below 4000 rpm

Forget about the Mrs, you really should take it on a race track mate, I had a RX8 for 3 years driving it all over the UK but nothing compares to when I took it to Donington Park, because of the slight lack of torque & FR drive train its much better suited to racetracks than public roads, you can be stupidly aggressive with it and it just responds very predictably however if its wet you have to be very gentle with it and even then its quite twitchy on the rear end, still a lot of fun though.

I once got to drive a Ultima GTR. that particular one had a LS3. I helped the guy build, so he let me drive it. it was a good day.

I drive a '70 SS 454 Chevelle all over. I own a '71 Malibu with a 350 and TH400. The '71 isn't on the road right now, but it will be one of these days.
