I noticed we've seemed to have been following a cycle of sorts after GT4.

Demo of GT5 gets criticized hard, game comes out to great fanfare, then gets chewed out by us more or less.

Now GT6 demo is out and is getting criticized hard (there are fair criticisms of the game that's for sure), but the release will probably be met with fanfare and then our boards will proceed to chew on the faults until the GT7 demo comes out.

In the end PD makes money anyway.

it's still behind other sims

That is why you will never see the negativity toward the GT series stop. People expect a sim, and GT will never be what they want. If PD had been smart, they would have never used the word "sim" in connection with the game.

To me, GT is a casual racing game that can be enjoyed by people who just want to play around with a "racing" game. I love sim racing on iracing, but none of my friends are into "sim" racing, or don't have the pc to do it. With GT anyone with a PS3 can jump online with friends and have a lot of fun without spending all the time involved with getting competitive in a real sim.

I'm not sure a sim is possible on a console that could compete with the best pc sims. There are other console racing games that come a lot closer, but they focus on something (F1, Rally,Nascar, etc.), GT tries to cram it all into one game, consequently everything is very watered down.

I preordered GT6 the day it was available, so of course I will. Playing the demo just further solidified my pre-order. GT6 will be a great game and is one of the few I am genuinely looking forward to.

You bet I will, even have it pre-ordered too. Honestly I was really impressed with the new physics, how fast the game loads and the new look of the menu. I'm sure GT6 will be a great game, I really do. One of the things it has that no other racing game has, is a course maker which is getting improved, I love creating tracks. I'm looking to this Fall. :D

I can't believe people are judging GT6 so negatively based on this little demo. I don't think it will change that much in the release version, but hey, it's still the best console racing game to my eyes.

If it wont change that much in the released version then people obviously have a valid reason to complain. The thing that I hate about PD is that they always seem to keep secrets untill the last minute even though there are multiple other racing sims that provide way more than GT does.

Going by what I've experienced in this Demo we were given, the chances of me purchasing this new title have greatly been reduced. The visuals are improved, but what is the point in improved visuals when it generates lag? Players got better shadows, better particle effects, and no screen tear, but all at the cost of frame-rate drops. Cockpit view alone is even more difficult to use now that the game runs at 25 frames while using it.

One of the things it has that no other racing game has, is a course maker

Wrong, I've seen a few racing games from the PS1 days that had a track creator. There is nothing new about a track creator, regardless of how much fluff PDI add to it.

Well, yeah that's true and didn't that. Than again MNR had a track creator better than GT's course maker. Maybe I should have said no other "sim" racer had a course maker, or did one of them had one too?

Hmmm, actually man, there's one for the PS3, and with a much better one.
ModNation Racers. It's not the same same as GT but undeniably a racer.

Edit: Ooop, nevermind :P

Other sims for which we can create tracks, only the PC ones come to mind, but the process is completly different. :|

The people that picked no, are going to play it off somebody else or just buy the game anyway.

I think they mean, they will no buy the game because the demo inspired them to buy the actual game

HarVee
That makes no sense whatsoever.

How does it not make sense?

Liking a demo wouldn't have a effect on your decision to buy a full game? Thought that was one of the points of a demo.

I have heard a few of my friends say the reason they didn't buy Battlefield 3 because of the demo/beta. Don't understand how that wouldn't make sense.

Well, I really need to vote "yes" on this poll because I do feel like dumb for accident click "no" after I just say same like "I already pre-order it for everything which improve from GT5."

Live for speed is a sim that has a track course editor. rFactor has an open source code and promotes making tracks.

Honestly, I don't think this demo is enough to form a decision. Regardless, I will be buying it.

This demo doesn't do anything to convince me that GT6 will be fun to play. With GT5, the driving model was never the issue with the game. It was everything else. GT5 had no good single player content, and a really slow/buggy multiplayer. I need to know that stuff is going to be real solid in GT6 first. So far we haven't heard anything about how PD is addressing the career mode, among other gameplay modes.

Depends on one's priors. Personally, I was already leaning strongly toward skipping the GT6 on PS3 perhaps for whatever GT comes out on PS4. The change in the physics is a good change, but I feel like running it on PS3 will require sacrifices elsewhere, which I'm not willing to tolerate. So, for me the demo is a tipping point. I'm not buying GT6, just gonna do more iracing.

I'm definitely buying it.

On the most basic level, they've improved things significantly for me. The physics are much better, and the head movement inside the cockpit is much improved as well. Overall I think it's a lot more fun than any racing game I've ever played and it's easily the best physics on console.

Plus, if they come through with everything they said in their introduction, I think there's no question that it will be the best GT ever.

What really attracts me is the improved course maker, car customization, and the online club racing. To me, they made it sound like we will be able to organize league races within GT6. If we could do that, it would make it SOOOOOO much easier for like minded people to find eachother and race.

I think the problem with GT5s multiplayer is there are too many options for regulations. So many people use racing soft tires literally all the time as if it's normal, and I believe that if unrestricted wasn't the default tire setting, that it wouldn't be like that. I really hope they will give pre-set regulations or allow clubs to set regulations for their leagues. That way serious races can join serious racers instead of having to search through the lobby list for 5 minutes like in GT5.

I'm hoping that multiplayer will be more divided this time and easy to just jump in and out of races without having to search forever to find a decent race. Usually if I want to race in GT5, I gotta shut off the region filter because it seems everyone in America wants to race dirty and with racing soft tires on 400pp cars. That's what it seems like when I'm searching through race lobbies. It ruined GT5 multiplayer for me.

Course maker also looks amazing. More freedom and better environments are gonna be awesome. The andalaucia or whatever location looks like it will be incredible.

Plus, I'm sure there will be a few great additions to the car list (though I'm still expecting to be disappointed thoroughly by the typically huge omissions GT has always been guilty of)

Also, the new tracks should be great. I think some people may have forgot, BATHURST IS COMING!!!!

One thing though, if they don't have all the variations of Willow Springs, especially the horse thief mile, I'm gonna lose my 🤬

I will not buy GT6 off this demo.

The main reason I will buy this game is it's exclusive tracks like Monaco, the possibility of Bathurst and the best Nurburgring in any game I've seen. London and Eiger are another two I enjoy which other games don't have.

The physics do feel much improved, which is good but there's still a lot of negatives that haven't been touched.

HUD isn't switchable in game between off and on like Forza. The default view is bumper cam and the game doesn't save your preference between game sessions, one can only think this is to hide the frame rate issues, it was weird in the guided hot lap how it started in cockpit but as soon as the lap started it reverted to bumper.

Rolling starts and poor AI. Went back and played Forza 4 and it is night and day, one feels like racing eg. 12 cars all fighting into the first corner, some bumping even 3 abreast, race isn't over as soon as you pass them, and the other is like a car passing challenge. It looks unless you know how to use GT online which isn't as easy as it sounds (or compared to any other game eg. COD, Forza etc) the game just isn't fun. One would expect Forza's AI will be even more competitive with driveatar maybe something GT should consider.

I'm hanging on for GT, I paid near $400 AUS for the special edition of GT5, but it's exclusive tracks are the only thing bringing me back until they fix the sounds, the interface which still looks dated and the AI.

Really? usually on Forza the hard part is getting past them because the AI will drive dirty. I find that once I am front the only thing I have to worry about is the AI slamming me as I brake for the next corner after that I rarely see the AI again until I lap them.

The funny part is that if you turn off collisions in Forza the AI will try to avoid hitting you and even get stuck behind you if you stop in front of them or try to block them but when collisions are on the AI acts like you aren't there sometimes.

At least one of them picked no because they had already decided to buy before the demo.

In my case I did not vote as the demo was not a factor. I already knew I wanted it and ordered it.
