I'm not able to make either Monday or Wednesday qualifying times (though I should be able to make all future Wednesday qualifying times).

I was wondering if anyone is able and willing to hold a qualifying session of their own. It would be greatly appreciated

Here's a list of my available times.

GMT
Mon: 22:30 - Tues: 0:45
Tues: 03:00 - 18:30
Tues: 22:00 - Wed: 18:15
Wed: 23:30 - Thurs: 08:00

PST
Mon: 2:30 pm - 4:45 pm
Mon: 7:00 pm - Tues: 10:30 am
Tues: 2:00 pm - Wed: 10:15 am
Wed: 3:30 pm - midnight

I didn't know whether the Wednesday cut-off time was PST or GMT, it's not clearly stated in the "main" post. Also, this would be my first qualifying session and I didn't know how long they usually last.

Thanks in advance!

*I don't know if I'm officially on the GT300 roster to even set a qualifying time. I PM'd Masi Sunday at 19:30 GMT to see if I could join, but I haven't heard back yet (I'm sure he's pretty busy setting all this up). I felt like I should just set a qualifying time just to make sure I didn't ruin my chances of running later this week.

Hey Guys, just wanted to say that I think this is an awesome thing - and would love to race with you guys but I'm not available at the listed times. Happy hunting and good luck for those in the championship hunt :) 👍

The race quality is simply down to packet size and frequency of information transmitted. There's nothing about the physics there, the physics is all calculated locally. The higher qualities result in smoother movement of opposing cars, unless you can't meet the bandwidth requirements. At which point it goes pretty badly downhill, you can't keep track of everyone else, and you probably can't upload fast enough to everyone else either so you start jumping around for them too.

I think the highest quality setting (Very High) is overkill and risks problems. I'd suggest using High. If serious problems for multiple players are detected during warmup then POSSIBLY the room could be moved to Normal. I'd suggest that at least 3 or 4 players should be affected before considering this. If it's just one guy, sorry but you're going to have to take one on the chin for the sake of the other people's smooth racing.

I'm afraid you are not allowed to qualify since you are not an official driver. When Masi_23 puts you up on the list, it's ok. But not until then I'm afraid.

And even if you will not be put up in time for this weeks race, in the end of the season we will remove 2 races from each driver... So I guess your teame forgot to ship your car, and without your car, you can't race.. ;)

About the bandwith, upload speeds and so on..

I've experianced issues during races with:

Moieman
C-Falcon
GTP_Monoha
Wilhelm198824
boltzz_
Centura

Last race at La Sarthe I used "very high" quality.. We should try do test with the above drivers in a lobby set to "high (recommended)", but also with other drivers. We should need 1 steward, the 6 above, and 7 volonteers for a quick race this week.

It would be great with some feedback from the 6 listed above about how you experience the racing.

just my 2 cent:

Very High Quality/Voice Chat OFF/UNfixed host is what we've ended up using in the italian Super GT championship as well after trying all of the combinations allowed to no avail.

It isn't by any means the "ideal" set-up but gives you the best bang for your buck and by far the overall "smoother" gaming experience (also prevents mass disconnections in the occurrence the host drops and allows you to "hiddenly" reset the room without affecting those on track by dropping out and giving the "crown" to someone...helps a lot with those who can't seem to be able to join the room although it's a sort of trial and error process).

This talk of online could be completely useless come friday. :) On that dont get to deep into hashing any ideas out until that update hits.

Anyone from GT500 been under 2:00 on Suzuka

It seems to me that You know a lot how things work.👍

Is it up to PING or BANDWITH, when we´re having 16 players in a Finnish event, theres no problem with Race Quality Very High, but when there is players from around the world , problems starts ?

Common connection in FIN is 8/1 M.Ping to Helsinki ca.10ms,
When I Ping to UK its about 50 ms, and when i Ping to L.A its over 200ms....

May I ask when qualifying is for Friday's race? No one seems to be talking about it :P If it's still at 8pm GMT on Monday/Wednesday then sorry for my stupidity. :D

Masi (or any steward), is quali still on for 12pm PST today? I need to run by in the first 20 mins or so because i have to leave and of course I can't make Wed quali.

Worst case, i can get with one of you guys any time before 12pm PST tomorrow or Wed before the deadline.

I will try and make tonight for qualifying, but tonight is valentines day and I am supposed to be meeting a girl soon.

Is it bad that I want to prioritise Qualifying? :P

I'm sorry if you feel offended for me trying to make you be able to race as smooth as possible... I guess we will keep running the races in "very high" and who ever gets DC'd, tough luck..

No, Ofc not! I'm trying to help.. Sorry for the stupid idea C-Falcon89..

About the qualification. We are at the moment trying to complete the penalty system, and we have a hard time making everything happen at the same time. This week will be a tad unorganized to be honest. We also have an update arriving on raceday.

We will probably need to hold noumerus small qualification sessions during the week so that everybody get a chance to qualify.

I'm truly sorry for the inconvenience.

We will do our best to leave information anout qualifing sessions here as soon as things clear.

I think that we all have to live with it this week, and as soon as the Championship is on, things will work much smoother after this week. Thank you for your understanding! 👍

Shouldn't we postpone the start of the season 1 week??
In friday we have a new update, and we don't know for sure what we are going to face.
And we have all to install the update to play probably. Some people may arrive late and have to do the update before the race.

I agree. Update plus still working on the series rules.

With an update pending for Friday, I completely agree with the above.

i think it could be an idea... to postpone that is... it just depends whats included in te update.

Chasing the set up in this GTR haas been a trip. I had gotten into MR tuning and kinda forgot how to tune FR. So on thatdecided I would run something similar to my monza tune for the Nismo Z. Instant 1.5 seconds on second lap with this tune. Still wanna drop about 1.5 more secs

Ping is a fundamental limit. No setting you can change will affect it, if someone is far away they're going to lag a little. It's almost purely based on distance.

Sounds like Finnish internet is pretty good and that's why you don't have bandwidth problems. Not everyone has an 8/1 connection, or can even get one. We want to find the lowest possible setting that still allows for acceptable race quality so that we can accommodate the most people.
