well I had to pit the 2nd lap I think when Jimmy rammed me in the back of my car, that was basically my race, had no tires in the end :D
And what did you mean jimmy by "nice dante"?

I think they're doing a bit of maintenance. Servers are offline.

I guess wrong timing.

We need to discuss a lot. Should we set a limit for GT500 cars? Nismo Z gets up to 534hp after oil change and brake-in. Also, there's no way of policing GT300 cars illegally running with engine modifications...

That's what the Z gets to. It hasn't been extremely faster than any of the other cars over race distance in my experience. The top three for most of the latter part of the race was GTR/Z/NSX with very little between them. I'd either leave it alone or just remove it from the eligible list.

You can totally police GT300 cars if you choose. Particularly on somewhere like Fuji with a big straight, it will be immediately obvious watching the replay if someone has engine mods. It's admittedly made difficult by not being able to rewind and fast forward replays, but if you watch a few laps of someone you should be able to get a feel for if what they're doing is legit.

Once I'm finished watching through the replay to get the final standings I'm posting the replay.

Did u guys finish? I was disconnedted at Lap 9 or so.

I was consistenly doing high 1.35's, low 1'35s after tires were warmed up. Wrecked on Lap 2 from lag issues. Yellow GTR infront of me was jumping all over the place and damaged my car.

Yah, i really hate the GT replay system. How hard can it be to put a rewind feature?

Earlier, how was the starting grid determined? Cause if i remember correctly, i was starting behind a GT300 car

If you exit out of free run it resets your time. If you exited out you may have been placed at the back of the grid.

There were several GT500 cars behind me. I had run a 1.41.7xx if I recall. If you were slower than that, then there's your answer. But I'd expect it was more of the exiting thing.

Edit: Here's the final standings, such as I could get them. That's with the leader just pulling onto the final straight, and there were no position changes from there to the end that I could see.

Double Edit: Here's the replay for Masi and anyone else who missed out.

Man The race was a total mess.
Firstable why everybody charged there was suppose to be a parade lap and a rolling start.
Secondable there was only 8 to 6 cars in race after a few laps , what happened eveyrobody simply left . than why to sign up here if all you going to do is leave.
i think the people who completed all 20 laps are most commited in upcoming season.

i feel so bad for the host he did all this so you guys could act like little kids

@ imari - so you guys did finish... It's weird. Everyone was getting disconnected. I'm on NAT 2. I'm running in excess of 25+ Mbps. i think thats pretty adequate to host a full 16 grid race. Is PD doing maintenance? I tried going back in and it says servers are offline. Even the online lobbies were offline. Tony and Resuinit were trying to get in but they were being kicked right out with a message of 'Server Error' or something of that nature...

@ driftking9 - No parade lap and rolling start. Parade lap only applies to the actual regular season, were only in preseason doing exhibition races to smooth things out first. But yah, thanks for all those who came in and race.

I believe I saw it mentioned that there's a patch due tomorrow. That may be why the servers were funny. The patch could make things better, but it could also make things a lot worse if they add in extra stress on the system like matchmaking/leaderboards.

I would have thought that once we were in-race we'd be largely immune to the servers though. Masi is the host, the rest of us just need to connect directly to him.

Some of the accidents I saw were obviously lag related. When driving there were a couple of cars that were flickering all over the place and I tried to stay well away from them. It sucks, but you can minimise the effect that someone lagging has by just not putting yourself in a position where you can be hurt. It's not always possible, sometimes you've just got to make a move, but you can be careful about it.

Yeah, the start was pretty clean. After about lap three, cars were jumping all over the place in front of me, then from out of nowhere, i hit something invisible. It damaged my right rear suspension so i had to make a stop. It was smooth from then on until lap 9 when i got disconnected altogether.

Yah, i thought that too. But i guess its all connected somehow and the timing was just unfortunate. As i said, i have pretty good speeds with Road Runner 25Mbps with turbo burst... i would think its enough, but maybe it isnt.

Next race will have to be setup inside the lobby and password protected.

Also, what's with jimmy281090 accusing me of running a modified car just because I was keeping up with a damaged GT500? I didn't crash, I drove smooth, and drafted the hell out of him. If people want to see the replay I'll post it up, but it wasn't exactly a polite accusation to make in the middle of the race. Shook me up for a couple of laps..

I dont know if you were in the room when I noticed A car the exact same as mine was hammering away and keeping up with the Gt500's, it had tuning parts added to it!. I did'nt accuse you I suggested that you MAY have tuning parts as you were infront of me but very quickly got away on the start straight while my car is 4wd and set up for acceleration. As i said i did'nt accuse you I suggested.

Sorry dude i was about to make a move into that left hander and you slammed the brakes on :(. I did however let you retain you're position but I had no idea you were damaged. And my "Nice Dante" comment was for an overtake you made :P

I was disconnected hence why I left but I rejoined to watch for a bit.

That's fine. Want to save it until after the race next time? I'm happy to discuss it here on the forums all you like, but no one is really in a position to do anything while we're racing, all you're going to do is throw people off.

If you were running 4WD I guess you were in the Subaru. The Garaiya I was in is MR, and has enough traction to pull away from the start line at full throttle without lighting the rears up. It's also 75kg heavier due to the MR weight penalty in Super GT. This may be a dumb question, but did you break your car in? They're both about 295 straight out of the shop, but mines up to 341 after I ran it through an enduro the other night. Otherwise it's simply going to be down to how you take that final corner coming onto the straight.

Me in my Z, Captain_noob in his GTR, and Remy_K in his NSX had a great race. We were very evenly matched in speed and lap times. I tuned my car to also be good at worn tires at the expense of some fresh tire performance and I think it was a winning move.

After a bit of an eventful first chicane I ended up second after Remy_k and followed in his pace when he on lap two made a mistake and I got the lead about 2.5 sec in front of Captain_noob. We laped pretty much identical until lap 6 where my worn tires set-up started to pay off. By lap 9 I hade a 4.5 sec lead when sudenly it went up to 9 sec. I thought captain_noob made a mistake but after the race I understand that was a wrong call. He pitted and I was probably 9 sec ahead of Remy_k.

After my pit-stop on lap 10 I was suprised to find Captain-noob right on my tail. I thought (wrongly) that he hadn't pitted yet so I let him pass, followed him and waited for him to pit. By lap 13 I realized that he was not going to pit so I started to put some pressure on him. On the first chicane on lap 14 I did an attempt to pass but unfortunately touched him very lightly. I though it was an unfair pass so I was going to let him re-pass me but I was looking to much in the mirror and drove off the road and got a 5 sec penalty by the game.

I managed to hunt down captain_noob and was on his tail by lap 18. On the long straight leading into lap 19 I slipstreamed him and as I did that I saw Remy_K in my mirrors. He must have put in some awesome laps. So going into the chicane it was me and Captain_noob side by side and Remy_K just behind with no space to overtake. I think both Captain_noob and Remy_K overcooked the chicane and by the first sector I hade a 1.5 sec lead. My lead extended quite a bit to the finish so the other two must have had some eventful racing to the finish.

Too bad that so many got disconnected. We three had a great race.

Too bad. I was at 3rd i think when a phantom car wrecked me. I'm not sure who it was, ill have to check the replay.

Did everyone stop at least once?

Anyway, what do you guys think about HP limit for the GT500 class? The Z has a bit of
an unfair advantage with 534hp after break in. But i think that applies to the GTR also.

Race time will be locked and set next week at 2:00PM PST (GMT-8) at Monaco.

Should be Epic barring no problems with connections.

What's everyone running speed wise?

Here's mine

Up speed real low...

Honest opinion, I think the cars are pretty balanced despite the apparent difference in stats. I haven't seen proof that the Lexus can keep up with the GTR/NSX/Z, but those three at least seem to be fairly evenly matched.

Should the limit be at 534? Is that the farthest they go after oil change and break-in?

I believe the Lexus will be evenly matched as well with the GTR/NSX/Z, cause on the practice a few days ago, i was planning to use the Lexus, and i did a 34.6xx with Masi and Captain_Noob if i remember correctly, so i believe it will be competitive with the others.

Otherwise, yes we on the top three did a quite good race, i did a few mistakes thats why i was behind quite throughout the race, but on the last bit of the race, we did enjoy some good race together. Good job guys!

I was running in the gt300 in a lexus and it was one person in the garaiya i was racing with the first few laps and it seemed pretty even, but there was another one that lap me on about lap 7 that seem faster then some of the gt500 cars and was flying on the straights. All an all this is a real good idea, we just got to get over the lag issue, and people have to race fair in the gt300 series and not go out there with mods on there cars. And hopefully we can even out the two series because it seemed like there was only 3 gt300 cars

Not all of the D1 cars showed up so i pm'ed some guys on D2 thats why we got more people. Before 'blam2009' started the race and threw us all off, we had about 15 people on the grid. Eventually when we reconnected only 12 stayed and 2 guys kept trying to connect but was getting kicked back out automatically because of server issues...

That was me. If you look at the standings I posted you can see why. I was running 1.42.xxx for most of the race, and dipping into 1.41 and 1.40 when I could get a tow along the straights.

Honestly, I was just cornering fast. I could keep up with most of the GT500s through the tight final sector, but they pull away on the straights because of the power difference.

I'm not even that good a driver, I just get along really well with the Garaiya. And the NSX. Maybe I just like MR cars. 💡

I kept getting kicked. The Lounges are a lot more unstable than the Open Lobby rooms. We need to just make open rooms, and kick all of those that don't belong until the room is full. Setting should be voice comm off, and race quality standard. That should get rid of most (if not all) connection issues.

Yep. We'll have create a room in the lobby protected with a password.

Next Race, you have to race your way in by submitting a replay. Next exhibition race/testing is in Monaco :)

Does anyone else find that their tyres heat up slower in Lounges than anywhere else? It's really bizarre. They don't seem to wear out at a different rate, they're just slower to get up to temperature and harder to keep there.

You can protect rooms with a password?! Awesome, I didn't realize this.
