I couldn't make it. At 5pm, there was a blackout in my town (yet strangely, businesses still had electricity :odd:) and the power didn't come back in my house until ~8:30pm.

I'd just like to say thanks again to Furi for inviting me to race. Even though I didn't get a decent result, I still enjoyed it. Congrats to Yeratel and Snow on their wins! 👍

Well I managed to salvage what could have been a complete train wreck.

The opening few laps were excellent racing Sagaris, Lout, Snow and Chris. Sagaris ran away a little bit so the rest of us were scrapping for second, then I ran out of talent and road at Ascari dropping me down to 6th. I slowly reeled Carbonox in and we ran together for a while until I made was should have been my only pit stop to try and undercut him, which I did, and then we both ran into Randy a couple of laps later at Curva Grande. Giving me front suspension damage and Carbonox engine damage.

After pitting again I just drove around on my own for the remainder of the race and then in the dying few laps I passed Chris for 4th after he suffered damage after a crash.

All in all a satisfying if quiet race.

Well done to Yera and Snow for the wins.

Sorry Furi, wasn't in the mood for it today, just went on my GTP account to see how long it would take to get a message from you. (70 seconds btw )

Will be at Pescara, preferably in a Jag.

For the somewhat, that could of been much, much worse. To have 39 laps done with everything that happened, I'll take it. As for the run-ins with Carb and Fox that was my cock-up and I am sorry to the both of you. :ouch::scared: Otherwise, just another day at Monza :banghead::grumpy:... Gosh dang it I dislike that chicane with a passion! :grumpy: Congrats to Yeratel and Snowcrash on the wins. Onward to Pescara. :)

I approached you Randy and saw you on the inside at Curva Grande so was going to go around the outside. Then you swerved to the left so I went right then so did you and a crash was inevitable.

Not to worry mate, that's racing.

Could MJ see Sagaris? I caught MJ at Ascari and he got held and we split and MJ went straight through him!!!

Akmuq, Jag is yours, as Yera will be in a Alpine.

That was right in front of me when it happened as MJ went on the right and Furi went on my left then MJ went into the back of Sagaris.

My race was ruined by a lot of minor mistakes and a big one at the end which meant by the end of the race I was a lap down on Snowcrash

Apologies for my connection if it caused problems for anybody, normally I have no issues. Near the half-way point, I got a big hit from behind, I'm told because of lag, forced me deep into the sand and caused rear end damage, very lucky not to have had engine damage. Shame, because I was cruising along ~4 seconds behind snowcrash, my tires were in good shape and was considering not stopping. With the damage, there was no way to make it. Later Katiegan spun in front of me and I got front left damage, and I limped home to 3rd.

I couldn't see MJ all race, so perhaps I was lucky not to have collided with him despite my other bad luck.

Well, that was somewhat expectation-exceeding... no self inflicted mechanical damage for me at this one.

Qualified 2nd on a personal best, just 8/100 behind Sagaris, but already had the premonition I was in a bad position for the start. As 2nd, you're basically side-by-side with the pole sitter, and you have to wait until he accelerates, which means you lose a lot to begin with, and then also don't have a slipstream to work with (which is especially problematic in an Alpine-Vette acceleration contest). Of course, all of the other cars fall behind the leader, and you can't move across either. So, I found myself in 5th after Fox, Lout and Chris had out-accelerated me into Curva Grande and subsequently found it really hard to overtake any of them. Through a couple of other people's minor mistakes I finally managed to get through to 2nd, a couple of seconds behind Sagaris. I was able to reel him in and an interesting couple of laps followed. I was quite a bit quicker between Variante della Roggia and Ascari, but couldn't get past on the straights. When I left the slipstream, my momentum was not enough to carry me past. His lagging wasn't helping my drafting efforts particularly either. His car was dancing around like crazy in front of me, especially in chicanes.

I finally managed to be ahead for once going into della Roggia, and building enough of a lead until Parabolica so that he wasn't in my immediate slipstream anymore, so I tried to keep pushing so as not to allow him in anymore. Looking in rear-view, his name kept faintly appearing there, so I knew he was still close. I pitted after 23 laps, at what I had deemed to be (and Furi had announced moments earlier) half-time, and barely had time to get the fuel down from the suggested 35 litres to 13, because my garage was one of the first. I had used almost exactly half the tank, so I figured 13 litres extra should be plenty.

I found myself in 2nd behind Lout when I went back to track, and he didn't seem to be too far ahead, so I thought I was pretty safe, if I kept it on track for the second half of the race. I was fairly confident that even if someone tried a no-stopper, I would be able to catch them with better tyres towards the end. As it turned out, my fuel consumption would be the biggest scare though. I was basically watching the fuel gauge 90% of the time for the last couple of laps, and praying to see the "Leader has 1 lap to go"-message sometime soon. When I finally crossed the line, I had what looked like 1 pixel width left in the tank - it had not yet turned red, but I doubt I would have made another lap. Big win for the championship, which is still wide open, especially since I won't be able to make the next race at Pescara. It seems everything will head to a showdown in the Ardennes. 👍

Since I now know the secrets of the WSC points system, here's the completely unofficial GT points standings:

Snow: 53
Sagaris: 43
Lout: 43
Fox: 28

This includes one dropped score already. In my absence, Sagaris could take the lead by as much as 1 point before the final race. Lout can't, because he would drop 4 points, even he wins.

Almost right Snow but not quite: Undropped scores

Snow: 55
Sagaris: 45
Lout: 41
Fox: 33

Dropped scores:

Snow: 46
Sagaris: 42
Lout: 37
Fox: 28

This is going by Furi's table and including last nights scores.

Last night went a lot better than expected, really pleased with 2nd. Although If I had stopped earlier I feel I would have been closer to snow at the end!

BoP seems spot on now too, had some great battles with Chris and a few others 👍

Yesterday at Goodwood I couldn't help but feel like WSC had come to life hahaha

One of the Cobras and either an Aston Martin DB4 or another Cobra.

Even though it is a replica it was easily one of the nicest Fords there.

1) Mine is correct, because Furi's is not. I should have had 43 after Le Mans, not 45, because I was 3rd, giving me 2x6=12, not 14 for that race. (Acknowledged by Furi in post #1087)

2) Yesterday's points are: Snow 10, Lout 8, Sagaris 7(Pole), Fox 5, CJ 4. That gives me 43+10=53 and Sagaris 36+7=43. (I think you assigned me the pole instead of Sagaris)

3) Since Furi announced there is one dropped race after Monza, Sagaris, Lout & me don't drop any points (we all had 0-point rounds, so no effect), but you drop 5 (because you're so consistent you scored in each round). :sly:

4) If you factor in both dropped scores already now, it would be (dropped points in brackets) me on 44 (53-0-9), Sagaris 43 (43-0-0), Lout 39 (43-0-4), Fox 23 (33-5-5).

All clear? :D

Also, I'd like to make one comment about the pace lap speeds. There's really no need to enforce the different speeds for PT & GT classes for the whole pace lap. I'm glad Sagaris didn't follow it to the letter, because on a 6km circuit the speed difference means that at 50mph the PT field needs 4:30 to go around 1 lap, and the GT field needs a whopping 5:32.

Apart from the fact that this is already excruciatingly long, this means that the PT-field is already more than half around the track when the GT's start their race (Actually, in the case of Monza, the PT's would have been at Ascari in the first lap when the GT's start their race). This also means that after 2 laps the PT's start lapping the GT's, when both fields are still going tightly together.

I think that, if the goal is to leave a little bit of a gap to let the PT's get safely through the first corner, it's enough to enforce the different speeds at the grid formation point. You still get at least about 10 seconds difference, which is by far enough for safety, and it gives a little bit more time for the fields to sort themselves out before the lapping begins.

Just my opinion.

As mud :sly:

Lotus, Toyota have failed testing and will not be in the next WSC.

Who does that leave?

All current cars plus the car I tested two weeks ago that passed but I never told you about which you will see at Pescara ~whistles~...

You're in for a treat mate, they're amazing. Gutted I couldn't go on saturday to see it race though.

Unfortunately it seems that it and the MKIIs weren't being pushed to the limits (understandably so) so the MKIs took the top places. :indiff:

Still there's plenty of videos on Youtube already, plus ITV will be showing highlights, so hopefully I'll be able to hear it at full chat there.
