Time Trial #54

Stotty, I've heard good things about Logitech replacing faulty products, see if yours is still under warranty.

I've got a G27 at home which I can check later, currently not home, will be in about 2 hours tho.

Mine's almost 3 years old... and I've already taken it apart several times. I know Logitec customer service is good, but I doubt they would exchange it given it's age and my handiwork.

No matter, I've swapped the clutch unit (which I hardly ever use) for the brake... all back together and it seemed to be OK when I gave it a quick test before re-assembling.

Just gonna give it a proper test now... hopefully all good for the time being.

Someone with a G25/27...

Is the pedal spring the same strength in the brake and clutch?

Thx for a quick reply ;)

Brake pedal is stiffer than clutch on my G27. Its only 6 months old, hope that helps.

And to think I thought you were a friend of mine. Guess I'll have to take you off my Christmas list.

Speaking of taking people off your friends list.

Here we are, after all the humbug, and we are still 'friends', yet at the end of the last TT when I went to check where I was placed on my friends list I found I had moved up a place without bettering my time.

Apparently Adrenaline had 'unfriended' me, which means his loaners were unavailable to me.

I checked back but there had been no animosity between us since we became 'friends'.

Not crying about it, just found it strange. Perhaps I was getting too close to his time, ha ha.

Stotty, I had the same problem as you with my DFGT, brake not fully releasing. I don't know if the G27 works the same way but I fixed it by shifting the gear wheel by one cog. It might mean you get slightly less braking with the pedal fully depressed but it's better than having the brakes dragging all the time.

Thanks guys 👍

I just tested it on the Eiger Seasonal... the brake has a little less resistance, but I'm sure I'll get used to it soon enough.

Can't be that much of an issues as I ran 10 laps and knocked 0.6 off my pad time... 1'02.590 for 11th.

I don't normally like rally, but that one's not bad.

BTW, I think the issue with my brake unit is the potentiometer (sp?), not the release spring.

It's not really strange when you're Adrenaline I think. He tunes and lends cars to people all the time as far as I can see and probably has the problem of having his friend list full most of the time. He probably didn't realize you were still using them.
Congratulations on Australia Day btw...the day you celebrate the British making a new colony lol. (That should start something :sly:)

My old DFPRO had a dirty potentiometer, No probs with DFGT.
You can get 'Contact Cleaner' or 'Switch Cleaner' in Aerosol (comes with a tube like WD40). Usually there is a little opening on the back/side of the pot to squirt into, give it a good few turns let it dry out. Should work but problem will keep recurring. best to replace pot.

I put my cars online :)

What tune you running? :P

My guess is it's a borrowed car, since a lot of the guys at the top are using the same colour car. If so, I doubt it will be posted. Best bet is if the person sharing the car stops sharing it, that way people will have to make their own tunes and then get around to posting them on here.

Knocked almost 0.4 off that... 1'02.231 for 7th :D

Hey hey nice one stotty ;-) I haven't had ago of this one yet but I get off work at 4 today and I'm off 2moro so there's gonna be a lot of playing GT for me :-)

Just put my RS200 on share if anyone on my friends list wants to try it.

The tune is still WIP, but I want to have a go in the Vette this afternoon.

I'll post the RS200 settings here for those not on my friends list later when I have a bit more time.

Adrenaline doesn't roll that way and he certainly doesn't shy away from competition. I have known him and interacted with him on this site for some time now and I can tell you that if there was a specific reason as to why he "unfriended" you, he is not afraid to tell you why. He probably just needed to make room on his friends list and deleted you without giving it much thought. Just pm him and ask him whats up to see if there is a prolblem. Maybe he'll add you back. Whatever the case, he won't be afraid to tell you why.

And again, I think you are giving yourself way to much credit again, thinking people are so afraid of competing against you that they would just delete you for that reason. Adrenaline is in the WRS Registry as a Division 2 driver so I doubt very much he is worried about any competition from you. Trust me, he can hold his own quite well. Not alot of people are aware of Adrenaline's skillset as he very rarely takes part in these time trial events so I wouldn't go underestimating him otherwise you may find yourself in the same situation as you are with me and will only end up embarrassing yourself. :sly:

Clutch is slightly weaker. Google it - plenty of people have swapped them over

Clutch is considerably weaker but works ok. In F1 2012 I set the brake as the clutch so my feet have a bigger space and I found it works fine once you get used to the required pressure to use in your foot.

So you don't think he unfriended me because he was worried I might knock him off his perch then Cargo. Could've sworn that was it.

And thanks Killer, I'm done tonight but will check them out tomorrow.

Sir Allan said;

~~

Well the French were right behind them and getting ready to roll, and I kind of like speaking English, so am glad it was the Poms.

Thing is, if the Yanks hadn't caused so much trouble back in the day, the British convicts would have continued going there, but again, I'm kinda glad things turned out the way they did.

Lol, no, that would hardly be the case. You know, you really amuse me with some of your comments. Like I said, He is a D2 driver and I seriously doubt you offer him any competition at all.

You know, I'm not sure why, but you seem to think that everyone is scared to compete against you. Not sure why because I sure haven't seen any amazing TT finishes from you. I think you are just full of yourself.

Looks like im the biggest loser in rally...has someone a decent tune? Or can i try someones car, maybe your one, stotty? Can i add you?

Not sure how many slots I have left, but feel free to add me 👍

Hey I'm a D2 driver too :dopey: but I can't compete with you guys in this TT. Don't know if doing the AMG test is such a good indicator of our true qualities. But I did notice how you kind of disappeared from the scene just as I arrived CG....makes you think...:sly:

100 on Dalone please :D

$200 on Cargo...

I had the same problem with my DFGT and tried that same solution and didn't like it. If I remember correctly, it introduces a deadzone to the brake as well, along with not allowing full brake pressure. So I took it apart and came up with another solution.

First, make sure everything is cleaned and dust free. The potentiometre rests on a small piece of plastic inside the base and is attached with a single screw. Take the sort of post that the potentiometre rests on and shave off a little bit, a mm or 2 with an exacto knife, so it rests slightly lower. Voila, problem solved. I had the flickering brake issue off and on for a month or two, tried various solutions and this one was the only one that worked permanently.

Now you're starting to sound like Dalone. I told you I was having trouble with my account and was putting all my spare time into fixing it therefore it didn't leave me time to do much competing in the WRS. No worries tho, I'll be back next week.

Speaking of my good buddy Dalone, just started tapping into the talent bank and am now at 1:19.934 after a short run this morning. Still getting used to this backwards ass configeration of this track, but making progress. You got some catching up to do there my friend. ;)

@Johnnypenso: Thanks for the vote of confidence my friend. I can always count on you being in my corner.

That's interesting, I might give it a go when I have time. You are right that it gives a bit of dead zone before the brake starts to operate but I quite like that. It feels a bit more realistic to me. Before the pedal seemed too sensitive, particularly when using no ABS when just the lightest touch could cause a lock-up in some cars. Whether it results in less brake pressure when it's fully depressed I don't know. The bargraph still goes up to 100% but I might be missing out on a bit of stopping power. I've heard it mentioned that there is some sort of calibration that takes place when you fully depress the pedals but I don't know if this is true.

Just made P10 by the skin of my teeth.

4 thousandths? Loads of room

Did you like the tune? Would you like it tighter or looser on direction changes? More or less rear traction on the exits?

I built this one on the DS3 in an hour this morning and only ran 20 or so laps in it with the wheel after. Felt pretty nice but I think there's a bit more in it yet.
