2011 Australian Grand Prix

When was the last time the grid had 5 or more (past / current) world champions?

What year had the most championship drivers in it (future / past / current)?

Curious to know as the commentators did mention it and it got me thinking.

Nah nah. Put Lewis in the Red Bull last year, he'd have sewn up the championship with 5 races to go. Put Vettel in the McLaren, he'd have been back there in the midfield.

People set too much store by Vettel. All things considered, he's no better a driver than Rosberg.

Need I remind you the season he had in the toro rosso? Or what about lewis hamilton running at the back of the field at the start of 2009. Don't fool yourself into believing he won with the same car. He only won due to the improvements to the car.

Vettel won with a crap car. Hamilton can not claim to have done that.

Interesting little bit of trivia for you: apparently an over-zealous fan managed to sneak into the Red Bull garage late yesterday and accidentally broke the airbox on one of the cars (Webber's, I think) when he leaned against it to pose for a picture ...

The British GP '70 lineup included 8 past/present/future champs:

Brabham, Rindt, Hulme, Stewart, Andretti, Surtees, Hill and Fittipaldi.
Future champions don't count because they had not been or were not World Champions at the time of the race.

Hope the drivers in that V8 Supercars crash are ok.

next years grid will have the most, vettel, shumi, hamilton, button, alonso and kobayashi :)

The Pre-Race program is being televised here in the U.S. I absolutley love the start of the season, with so many unknown factors you can't help but get goosebumps waiting for the lights to go out....

I still don;t get how the RB's didn't use KERS and were still so damn quick. Surely if they have some sort of plan it will be to use the KERS as soon as the tire degrdation commences thus making any sort of pass attempt on them very very difficult..

So much intrigue :)

How are we supposed to currently know how many future champs are on the Australian GP grid? That's dumb to even think about right now. I think there are 20 world champions on the grid if that's how we're going to think about it.

I'm waiting for the SpeedTV crew to release whatever secret news they have about Cars 2.

HRT can't compete in the race. That must be heartbreaking for everyone in HRT after how hard they worked just to get a car in practice.

Believe it or not, I'm a big Kobayashi fan, too.
Of the newcomers, di Resta looks promising as does Perez.

They stole my user title to use for decals on the cars. :sly:

Why not use japanese letters for your title?

I was sure they would have used the super softs(Red) for Q3, those times would have been even more crazy.
