ESPNF1.com originally said that Maldonado had hit Chilton, then clarified later on... a long time later, that Chilton had swerved back into him. Formula1.com still hasn't assigned blame.

So even ESPN blame Maldonado automatically too.

It's possible he didn't see him, the mirrors will be vibrating a tonne round there. Still.

Alonso told to give Perez the place after cutting the chicane. He is fuming.

Incident under investigation between Chilton and Maldonado. Watch Pastor get penalized.

Ooh, Tom Kristensen's the guest steward. I really hope the F1Slate has an article after this one.

Can't blame him, if Alonso kept his line, both he and Perez would have end up against the barrier.

This, as much as I don't like Alonso ... he had the right call there, blocking or keeping the line in the chicane would have ended in a crash.

From the camera angle, it seems like Perez was a nose ahead, but since Perez didn't leave enough room for Alonso, he gave Alonso no choice but to cut or brake to a standstill. It's certainly debatable, but it seems like Alonso really did cut the chicane from behind. In which case, he should cede position.

The penalty for the Maldonado-Chilton incident should rightfully go to Chilton. Should. But with Pastor's reputation...

Mclaren seem the think everyone will use the option but if someone towards the front uses the harder tyre they will be very strong at the end especially if Rosberg is saving super-softs and holding everyone up.

The same can be said of (almost) every overtake performed at that chicane. On any other corner at any other track, forcing someone off the track in order to pass them is illegal. At Monaco, drivers do it every year and the defending driver has to give up the position. It's a bit of a joke tbh.

Fair enough, it's not like they can change the chicane but still.

Fernando had to cut the corner, he may have gained time but his choices were cut the corner or smack into the side of Perez.

I'm aware of that. I think it's ridiculous that this rule is "black or white", with little to no room for interpretation. As much as I don't like Alonso, he did absolutely nothing wrong there and definitely should not be penalized.

...and Maldonado could/should have known he was driving into a disappearing gap. Tabac is not a corner that can be taken two wide.

Maldonado wasn't driving into a disappearing gap. He was going round the outside whilst being overtaken by Chilton. Chilton pulled over to the right and into Maldonado causing the accident. Had Max held his position and took the corner the way he should have, nothing would have happened.

The penalty for the Maldonado-Chilton incident should rightfully go to Chilton. Should. But with Pastor's reputation...

Reputation shouldn't have anything to do with it. The accident should be the only thing being taken into consideration. What happened on the track, between the two drivers, at the exact moment of collision.

The thing with the Alonso incident is simple, if there was a barrier there like most of the track he would have had to back out, the only reason he didn't is because of the run off.

So, as the race stops after two hours, it seems like it will be a bit of processional finish, assuming they fix the barrier in the next 40 mins.

When Perez took a similar barrier in his quali crash a year or two ago, it was a big fix, so bed time for me methinks...

Brundle said it is two hours, plus the red flag stoppage, not including.

Of course, rep shouldn't affect the penalty, but once you've built it... most commentators blamed Maldonado or at least did not blame Chilton during the incident, when it was clear from the vids that Pastor did nothing wrong.

It's not a good thing to have a rep.

What makes you think Rosberg will hold anyone up? He has been the fastest man on the track the entire day. Add to the fact Rosberg will easily manage 32 laps on his tyres and his tyres are almost 5 laps fresher than the RBR's.

Ok, I thought Maldonado was overtaking Chilton. If Chilton was the one overtaking, he should indeed be penalised.

Tires are going to be interesting. Seeing who went with what tired and how it ended up. In also curious to see if Vettel can pass Rosberg on pit stops. (If there are more)
