I don't like Vettel, but when he hears the hate from the crowd, i'm pretty sure that just fuels him to perform even better... i know it would for me, if i was in his position.

The crown booing Vettel won't make any difference. The FIA aren't going to suddenly try and change the rules (which hasn't worked in the past) because some viewers are getting impatient and seem to have forgotten that the idea of competitive racing is be competitive and dominant whenever possible, something which Vettel has been doing to the best of his ability for the past four years.

However if you dont like something you have the right to express it. At least in my country (thanks god for that).

I agree it's totally not deserved and a bit lame but if people feel like it they should do it and not applaud like robot because that's what you're suppose to do.

Anyway I'm done for the thread, doesnt move anywhere. Can't wait for Silverstone.

I'm not denying it's within their rights, it's just rude.

...I see nothing wrong with people expressing their opinion.
Do they have to? Whose benefit is that booing?

They can do that, but it is quite sad.

PS. I'd like to see how Kimi would react if the crowd booed him :D

Vettel is not that likeable of a character considering the circumstances, and his attitude this year. What's so disgraceful about fans cheering on Alonso and a few boos? It's sports. Alonso is the fan favorite and has been for years now, probably since Schumacher left in 2006. All this "Disrespectful Alonso fans." etc. is unnecessary.

All that could be done to avoid something like this would be to get rid of this horribly awkward podium interview and go back to the level of formality that the interview room has had for decades now.

Perhaps because they were chanting his name at the same time whilst Vettel was talking?

If I'd asked you about the demographic of people chanting Alonso, then probably.

I love all this manners....imagine, you paid flights, hotel, weekend passes and then sat through that and what, you just sit there stone faced? I'd be booing an undeserving winner with a poor show.

Here is a clip of the Canadian crowd sitting at a corner - cheering F1 action and overtaking:

They are not rude, they appreciate racing and disapprove processions, as every crowd should do.
Load of fuss over nothing.

I think Lotus are starting to suffer with their small budget and the loss of Allison, I think RB, Ferrari and Mercedes will pull away in the constructors championship.

Have you ever actually been to a race? Because I've been to two, and I can assure you that this race would have been far from a waste of money. There was clean battling going on left, right and center, constant overtaking, and a lop-sided result from the starting grid. If all that mattered in a race was what happened at the very front, then we wouldn't need 8 of the 11 teams on the grid, and 90-minute race with six drivers would be unthinkably boring, which has happened before.

I don't have the £££ to be flying around the world for GP's. I'd love to go to Spa, Monza, Suzuka or Interlagos, though.

It says you live in England. Have you been to Silverstone?

I'd happily forgotten about the qualifying, but, I've grown more realistic and less hopeful since. Vettel will just **** off into the distance, Bottas will inevitably finish 11th or worse, etc...

Call me mystic meg!
Brilliant quip by Ted on the fans from Derby!

Oh look blonde & brunette RB PR people getting cheered!

edit:

What, £500 and three days off work? You mad?!

How is he undeserving? In his position would you not just do the exact same thing? He did nothing wrong at this race, he just drove like he always does.. He can't control how exciting the race is. Booing him was just childish in my opinion.

Canadians have no business booing anyone so long as they haven't recaptured Justin Bieber and are still inflicting him on the world.

Pretty good race even though Vettel dominated.

Also, NBC is exponentially better than Speed, they actually air other F1 related programming outside the race.:dopey:

Edit: What Famine said as well.

And how was Vettel an undeserving winner?

If anything, every win Vettel brings home makes me feel even more sure he is easily going to beat Schumacher's world title record.

Did we, the rest of the world, ever receive an apology from the Canadians for that little monstrosity?

Great driving from Vettel, shame about the boos.

Think the warmer conditions didn't help Mercedes but still not bad. Hamilton kind of got suckered in by Alonso near the end, as ever Lewis didn't want to wait. Really think for that moment it was possible to get Alonso in the 2nd DRS zone.

So anyone who dominates a race does not deserve to win? :odd:

Guys do yourselves a favour and put him on ignore, it makes the thread infinitely more pleasurable to read.

If I'd asked you about the demographic of people chanting Alonso, then probably.

Well it doesn't take a genius to work out it was the same vocal group but whatever, not important.

The problem Vettel is facing is the rule changing. If F1 was continuing as it is, Vettel could probably beat Michael, with the rule change it might change quite a bit and the winner of next year might be something on the same line as Brawn GP. A car exploiting a loophole.

However Renault have huge experience with V6 and RBR have Newey so we never know. But if someone can do it curently it's him.

I'll take a competitive, hard-fought race over this procession any day of the week. I thought F1 was about racing? Or is it just the RB show, gun forced smile for Bernie to accept?

Or is it you and your stupid conspiracies. Red Bull have best car and driver like Schumacher at Ferrari years back. Fact.

Honestly I would but everyone would just be arguing with themselves.

Wait, he's Canadian?

Monaco was more exciting than Canada. How is that possible?

Thank you - somebody who accepts history has repeated and F1 is once again in a decline.
