I sure hope weather on travel day is better than last year. Took me 16 hours to reach LaGuardia from Vegas and I was one of the luckier ones.

Only took me 5hr to touch down in NYC last year no lay over nothing everything went smooth :sly:

This is a Public Service Announcement for all North American finalists!

They are asking us to go to Quest Diagnostic to get our bloodwork done...unfortunately they are also giving us a due date of July 6th. It took me about an hour to get a call back, and they are (at least in the US) going to be closed Friday - Sunday, which means that tomorrow will be your last day to get the tests done if you are going to be taking care of it on time. I don't know how lenient they will be with the appointment time, but I got the very last appointment at my local place.

Here's the good news: They take walk ins. If you don't have an appointment yet, I suggest you go as early as you can tomorrow with your paperwork and see if you can get a walk in appointment.

WOO!

This personally annoyed me a little. I can't get it done tomorrow at all because of work, so my only other option is getting it done at 7am on Saturday before I work for 10 hours. Oh well, it is what it is.

That's a even worse deadline than last year. Please tell me they gave you guys codes that Quest actually understands.

Oh man...have you talked to them? The local office isn't open on Saturday.

I read off some of the codes when I talked to the lady, and they all seemed familiar. Part of me thinks it's strategic, so they can catch drugs in the system...and part of me thinks it's just like any other business - it's hard organizing something like this with 32 people, and they may be running a bit behind, especially given that @scca_ziptie has just been accepted, that would mean a bunch of folks we flaking out. Who knows, though.

Luckily mine is open on Saturdays and I went ahead and made a reservation to play it safe. I believe the testing is a drug screen/communicable disease test for the most part.

They're definitely running behind, but no more so than last year I don't think. I don't recall knowing what hotel I was even going to until 2 days prior.

Alright, a couple requests. Put the date of National Finals in the OP and in the thread title.

Also, may we start collecting real names for everyone so we're not lost during the competition? (they tend to deal only in real names once the competitors are there).

That doesn't have to fall all on zip tie of course, every one can pitch in with their own names or names of their fellow competitors.

 But I went two years without anyone even knowing my real first or last name! Oh well, 'twas a good run.

Brett Bennett. I'll be arriving at LaGuardia Airport at 6:05pm. 👍

Got the blood test done this afternoon, nurse wasn't at all happy that the "Nissan doctor" didn't put my name on the form and said she'll make an exception to write my name myself.

arriving JFK 7:15pm with @dgaf95integra, and @LoCoArMeN I believe.

One of the GTA reps emailed me after noticing my post, and let me know that if all else fails, 7/7 would potentially work, but I would definitely discuss it with whoever your contact is if you don't think you can make it in by tomorrow.

The GTA rep told me today that my list is "scary accurate" currently only containing one error - a US contestant that is "in" is actually "out" and visa versa. Canada is accurate and still seeking a fourth driver.
if you dont win the ultimate prize maybe they will offer you a job with them lol great work

wow I will be landing at 5:15pm

That reminds me! I highly recommend people sharing arrival airports and times. Sharing a cab would probably be preferred by just about everyone to avoid the 30+ dollars it is to go from LaGuardia to Times Square. If a group of people are arriving at a similar time, might as well group up and save some money. 👍
is there not a train or subway system there?

Landing at Laguardia at 5:15Pm Terminal B if anyone wants to meet up to share a cab.
