For the exact same reason he did in in the LMP2 cars: To ensure he gets maximum points.
Don't forget this rule.
It's been this way for awhile.

11.2.2. (TUSC) Drivers are permitted to be nominated in a maximum of two (2) Cars entered in
the same class but are only eligible to score starting and finishing points in one (1) Car.
A. (TUSC) A Driver so entered must declare, prior to the conclusion of Sporting Checks
or no later than one (1) hour prior to the start of the first official practice session,
whichever comes first, in which Car they are eligible to score points, etc.

12.4.4. (TUSC) Drivers are awarded points only in the Car(s) they drive during the race. Drivers
in more than one Car in a single class are awarded points only in the Car so nominated.

My opinion he does it because he can.
He has stints in cars for too long and it has shown. He gets a bit sloppy.
He better step back a bit this year or train harder.

I never said he wasn't doing it because he can :odd:

Again, he's increasing his chances of scoring points for himself to win. He's even manipulated the driver pairing in his other car last year just to make up for lost points in Baltimore from that accident.

Was that the crash at the beginning of the race?

I'm was only giving my opinion why Tucker races in 2 cars.
To me it's twice as risky and if someone is paying for championships, then you better find a way to be champ.
And he is. So job done.

Again, rules be rules.

I never watched ALMS that much but I did tune into that race due to the then upcoming merger. That pile up was crazy - what a mess!
The stacked tires in the middle of the chicane didn't help the racing situation either. I knew there would be a pile up but that happened even before they got the green flag to start. And going over train tracks...lol what a circuit.

Oh that's right - I forgot about the train tracks. Sounds like something a course would have in 1950, not 2014 lol.

Talking about crashes at the start reminds me of the Grand Am race last year at, I think it was, Detroit Belle Isle, where they managed to get to the first curve before the Ganassi car got ridden into the wall and destroyed! Maybe someone can post the vid (I'm on my phone).

Yeah I remember that, was such bs, he got freight trained into the wall.

Yacaman took out Rojas and collected Pew in the process. Real amateur move. His actions next round at Mid-O weren't any better. Thankfully, Shank brought in Justin Wilson as a mentor. Gus ended up leading the most laps in 2 of the final 3 rounds if I'm not mistaken.

Looks like one of the Corvette DP's will be on pole in a couple of hours, I'd rather it be the OAK Morgan or one of the Ganassi cars but I don't really care since it's almost time for the first race of the year!

As predicted a Corvette on pole, it's Alex Gurney in the GAINSCO car. Best LMP2 is Lucas Luhr, 3 places behind the Deltawing.

Not only are the P2 cars holding up the rear, quite a few PC cars out qualified many P2 cars. I just hate BOP.

Is the BOP fixed for the race now or is there any chance the P2 cars will be given back some of their speed.

They've been given basically everything that was taken away from them. The DP is almost entirely in 2013 spec other than the mandatory upgrades now. BTW I kinda think there's a little more sand in the shoes of everyone at this point. I'm certainly surprised at how fast the PC field was.

I think everyone in his/her right mind knew that the DP was going to be best here. More power, less df, and the DP teams have been running here for years and have notes etc. Makes total sense and it's not NASCAR's fault the DP's also ran waaaaaaaaay more laps during the test sessions than the LMP2 cars did. Pretty obvious which teams did their homework, got the data points, and had the past seasons of notes going into the race. When we get to Sebring, I expect the LMP2 cars to be better assuming there are enough of them that have actually competed in the ALMS

Just found out a program called "Road to Rolex 24" is about to air on Fox Sports 1. So if anyone is interested (assuming you have the channel), tune in now.

Edit: Also, I already see the hilarious "Its Nascar's fault" hate flowing now. Yeah that makes since, nevermind the fact the DP cars are essentially on home turf here at Daytona with notes from the last 10 years.

Can one of you international folks post a link to the live IMSA streaming of the race on Saturday? I'm not entirely sure it will work, but I don't get FS1 or FS2 in my apartment so I'm desperate.

Worst case scenario, you can see the first 2 hours on Fox, but Imsa really dropped the ball on the tv contract. No (legal) live streams here either as far as I know

Hopefully someone uploads it.. and as for your second point, it doesn't help that they have way more horsepower than P2s and one lap means nothing over a 24 hour race..
