MUSCLE MIIILLLLK. REPRESENT!!!

Really though. Pathetic. Oak are 3 seconds off MM's pace. Hell, they're behind ESM.
Could that be the result of Muscle Milk and ESM having more time to prepare for the Continentals? I know OAK is an experienced P2 team, but I have no doubts that they're having to re-learn quite a bit with not only the new tires, but the type of track they're racing on as well.

...Which will just make it more interesting to watch when they do win. :mischievous: Even F1 is going with smaller displacement... And isn't the Skyactiv Diesel also TDI?? TDI will make minced meat of most other engines... It's just an absolute PITA to work on, because diesel.

Mazda have no chance. Hell none of the P2s do. Going to be a prototurtle in victory lane.

It appears as my local FOX channel will not be covering the race on Saturday as the programming shows a movie at 1 PM and 2 episode of The King of Queens at 3 PM.
WTF!! This better be incorrect, I have a couple of friends coming to watch the start.

I am looking at the correct channel, no?
Just the basic FOX affiliate, correct?
Not a FOX sports channel, correct?

FOX sports 1 on Sunday looks good so far.

And does anyone know when we can watch the Conti race on TV with anything but FS2 (FOX sports 2)?
I have not found anything else yet.

I love how people are so set on a DP winning based on one lap..

In fairness, looking at the qualifying times, it's a huge difference. And I'd be hard pressed to give the over-all win to anything other than a DP. And not just based on raw speed. When even the PC cars managed to out qualify all but one of the P2 cars, one starts to wonder if they got the BOP right.

EDIT: The P2 cars may end up kinder on their tires vs the DPs, but I think they'll have a harder time working their way through the field simply because their top speed won't be much higher than the PC or GT cars, if it's even a match for them.

May?
They're definitely going to be a lot better on their tires.

Yes, but how much of a difference? Enough to make up a 2 second per lap deficit over 24 hours? By the nature of this track, there will inevitably be a lot of full course cautions which could negate the tire advantage.

No telling yet, that's why this year's 24 is going to be one of the most interesting in an extremely long time.

I'd like to see an LMPC win overall just for lolz. :P

Well, stranger things have happened... Remember 2003?

No luck finding an alternate live FS2 feed and the option for watching the Conti race live on Speed2 is gone.

EDIT:GTD #48 penalty rescinded and its back on GTD pole

The absolute lolz would be an overall victory by the Deltawing.

Anything is possible. But for THAT to happen, things would have to go so completely, catastrophically wrong for so many other teams, that it's almost beyond imagination. :)

Not that hard, only two things need to happen.

- DPs hitting trouble or needing more stops for fuel/tyres
- DW lasting the distance

I'd say DW lasting the distance would be the more surprising of the two conditions.

Brake a hole in the floor and make a 'Flintstone' version of the car and maybe then it's possible. :D But who knows. They've had many months to get things right.

Getting pretty bummed on the app side of things. Still waiting for IMSA to make their app for Android and now, following that link, I find there's Fox Sports Go but that isn't on Android either! :(

For the 9pm-7am stint tomorrow on imsa.com are they going to stream video or are we just left with the timing/scoring?

It's video, with commentary provided by MRN I believe.

Indeed worth noting in this mish mash of a top class, we have DP Prototurtles which have the power. P2 have the tyre and fuel use and PC are not too far off but probably lack the top end needed. And the Deltawing is half P1 / P2 !

Calm down people, this is only Daytona. Even then given all the different advantages and disadvantages, anything can happen.

Uh-huh...

It didn't take long for the post-qualifying conversations to turn to Balance of Performance. The loudest barking has come from the Prototype class where GM's fleet of Corvette DPs have ruled the show so far.

With the No. 78 Riley-BMW sent to the back of the field for a technical infraction, Corvette DPs comprise the two front rows, with one of Chip Ganassi's Ford EcoBoost turbo DPs in fifth, another Corvette DP in sixth and, to the surprise of many, the DeltaWing in seventh.

The Ford contingent have made their displeasure unknown, citing noticeable top speed disparity that resulted in a 0.566-second difference from the top EcoBoost to the pole-winning Corvette DP. Ford, as one might expect, has been lobbying the series for an adjustment – either to increase their speed or to slow the Corvette DPs.

Seeing how the DP class still are "ehhh" on their conti-tires and seem to take chug fuel... They may actually have a chance, but just pure endurance. It's a extremely long race. Anything can happen.

Then again, all three factory Mazda's last year got punished by a privateer Porsche Cayman that was built in a shed.
