Nope, it would actually be worse for the heavily aero dependant cars, they would just take off as soon as they get a bit of air at high speeds like on that corner.

That's if the air goes underneath when the car gets airborne the first time.

If the car's still firmly on the ground, because the downforce pushes it down, it will stay down. But, if it lifts even a few inches...:

Brad Kettler seems to want FULL GT3 spec, in an effort to cut costs.

The current R8 uses a slightly thicker roll cage, which meant building a bespoke car. However, ti seems that the current GT R8 can be fully upgraded to GT3 spec.

Full GT3 spec would be fantastic, but that marginalizes the current teams, both with the Grand-Am spec cars, as well as the GTC Porsches. After 2016 though, theres no excuse.

Also, an unnamed DP team wants to expand into GTD next year. I bet it's Starworks.

Can't have factory TEAMS in P2. That's not CARS, not INVOLVEMENT. If that were the case HPD wouldn't be there. :ouch: Come on, kid, get with it!

Really any need for that attitude Seth? Anyway, LMP2 is about no factory teams or involvement. The cost restrictions somewhat mean that expensive factory chassis cannot be made anyway. As stated here in this doc about the regs when they kicked in 2013, a car might even be refused homologation if it is too expensive.

Also, got me thinking, in that case would Grand-Am restrict drivers in there cars based on a ratings system?

Audi needs to finally step up to GT-E and come play with the big boys!

The GT-3 move is meant to bring in all of those WC-GT cars into their events.

So what exactly are the R8 in both WC and GAGT compared to GT3 or GTE? I'm so confused by these classes because either I'm slow or too much going on between them.

As far as no factory teams for P2, if there is a cap on it and some spec, why should it matter? We are losing P1 but I don't really want to lose some of the factory backing we have for events.

Well you probably will lose full manufacturer backing.

Hell Chevrolet has just as much "involvement" with the corvette DP as Toyota or Nissan or any other manufacturer in p2. It's the rules for Pete's sake...

I remember them complaining that the suspension couldn't be set wide and long enough to be competitive, hence they do GT3.

With regards to the R8, the WC-GT is the same as the GT3 car. The GAGT is similar to the GT3, but with a thicker roll cage and the spec engine bits. Brad Kettler said that the GAGT one can be easily put back to GT3 spec

What a crappy deal! Continental better step up their game or they'll simply be the clowns everyone laughs at on LeMans when they go against the other brands.

Would it be bad if the teams simply bought Michelin tires just for Le Mans or is that illegal?

Oh no... I guess they've been making too many good decisions lately, they had to bring us back down to earth.

And take an unfamiliar tire to what some of them will consider their most important race?

I honestly don't believe we'll see a single USCR team make it to Le Mans, except Corvette or Viper. The tyres, the BOP, it's just not gonna happen. NASCAR seems to have gotten what they wanted

So glad it's just one tire because open tire rules would be one more huge BoP headache for an already monumentous task in the P class. Tires need to be spec in pc and gtd class anyway.
