2015 Formula 1 Grosser Preis Von Österreich

I was amazed just how frequently drivers were making a mess of Turn 1. I am not sure I've seen a corner catch them out so often.

Red Bull Ring is a gorgeous looking place with the forest and rolling hills but the circuit I find a little dull. Having Carmen Jorda back is great too...

The snub-nosed McLaren took some getting used to. It looked so odd compared to the regular nose. I know it is irrelevant what they look like but the regular McLaren looks so much better.

Alonso stops on the circuit. Again. Anti-stall appears to have cut in automatically.

And FOM are going to need new graphics - they show the breakdown of engine components, but Button is already on to his sixth parts. Who knows what they will be up to by the end of the season.

Rain on the circuit.

Puzzled by Hamiltons choice to not run in the rain. Chances of wet conditions in qualifying seems pretty high.
The Toro Rossos looks like the cars to have in the wet. Both Verstappen and Sainz showing good wet weather pace.

Pleased to see a Ferrari top the board in FP2 and 3. :) If Raikkonen manages to string together a descent qualifying and gets high up on the grid he is in with a chance in this race I'd say.

Cars venturing out on inters, looks like slick territory once they've exercised the tarmac a little. It'll be dodgy off-line though.

Raikkonen has another shocker - 18th and out, ahead of only the Manors. He'll benefit from grid penalties, but it doesn't look good.

Ricciardo out in Q2.

Well, both Mercs spin on their final lap. And it's a 1-2 for Merc with Hamilton on pole.

What a finish!

Hamilton goes off, Rosberg about to snatch pole... then he's off too :D

EDIT: Hamilton gets it back to the garage while Rosberg does the scrunch-of-shame on foot out of the gravel trap :)

Hamilton and Rosberg both spin on their final flying laps. Nice to hear Sky decide that Hamilton's off was a mechanical fault and Rosberg's a driver error before they had even seen a replay.

Where they correct?

Some people at Sky is so far up Hamiltons backside I'm surprised they even know about the other drivers on the grid.

For Rosberg, yes. For Hamilton, I'm not so sure - there was no obvious fault; the car simply snapped around at Turn 1. But Sky were happy to declare it a mechanical fault before they even knew where he had gone off.

Guess he forgot you have to be ahead of him when you do that.
Rosberg had enough pace to challenge Hamilton's laptime.

Don't remember hearing anything about them saying about it being a mechanical fault. Rosberg was on a very similar pace to Lewis so knew he had to make a little bit extra in final sector to get pole which probably lead to him making that mistake.

Anyway what I'm often disappointed about with Sky is they have a F1 channel and often don't show the pole lap :boggled:.
