That's one third of Super Saturday(/Sunday) in the bag but the other two aren't looking so good - Greg Rutherford out of the medals with one jump to go and Jess probably needing to run a PB in the 800m to snatch gold.

The Olympic golf course looks great and because no one had really played on it before it's new to everyone and turning out to be a great competition. A good first outing for Golf.

Only problem is the spectators, how many times do the caddies have to tell them to put their phones on silent and stop taking pictures!

If we held the olympics in Chicago's south side (or any rough part of a developed country), would we see the same things happening as we are in Rio or would the athletes actually have protection.

I don't think you would see athletes targeted but visitors would likely fall victim to some incidents. People get robbed all over the world everyday. This case sounds like the Taxi driver was in on it and probably tipped the robbers off. Also the fact they were dressed as Police points to some sort of corruption.

Great Britain have added another 3 golds in the past 2 hours and have a guaranteed gold and silver from the Men's Sprint later. We've moved above China in the table! Only temporarily I'm sure but that's very impressive.
Max Whitlock was the only gymnast in 2 finals today and he won both

Been an amazing games for Team GB so far, up to second in the medal table after three more golds today, two for Max Whitlock in the gymnastics and the other for Justin Rose in the Golf which is a bit ironic that a Brit won that as four of the top Brit Golfers pulled out beforehand citing the Zika as their reason.

I stayed up till around 4am last night to watch the track and field action and it was so worth it to see the Brits do well again, it wasa great night and will try and do it again tonight to see Usain Bolt.

Jason Kenny Men's Sprint Champion again with Calum Skinner getting the silver.

:cheers::cheers:

Andy Murray just taken the first set 7-5 against Del Potro in the Men's Tennis final.

Fantastic match! Maybe I was wrong the other day grouping in Tennis players as ones who don't care all that much about the Olympics.

In the Athletics, Bolt is looking seriously good, I can't see anyone getting close to him, and he could threaten either his OR or even his WR if he goes flat out.

He won't threaten his WR or his OR. He set his WR in 2009 and his OR in 2012 is nearly 0.2 faster and had tore his hamstring in July plus we could only see Bolt retiring soon as this is his last Olympics.

Thanks for your very enlightening prediction 3 hours after the race took place.

I'm talking about the IAAF plus what made you think he was going to beat his record this year as looking through his times since 2009, he has just got slower and slower.

I wasn't talking about the Diamond League. This is the Olympics thread.

I said he could threaten it the WR, not beat it. Also the fact that he jogged to a 9.86 in the semis.

He could have easily got a .6 if he didn't have a poor first half of the race. Anyways, there are reports that this was his last 100 metre race so it doesn't matter.

You are joking? If you think he can get a .6 then this would not be his last Olympics as his record stands at only .58 and an athlete like him can dream of making a record which is near impossible to beat.

He was level with everyone except Gatlin in the first half of the race despite being 6' 6".
It wasn't that poor.
He was 4th place at 6 seconds in.

This time last year he matched Gatlin off the line, last night he was a approx. a metre behind him at the halfway point.

I don't know if there is an available source on splits but I'm convinced that he had a much quicker start in the semi-finals last night.

A quicker start(which I believe he could have got) plus a lunge to the line and I believe he could have got a 9.66 or 68.

Katie Taylor is out! One of the most dominant amateurs in history seemed to lose that edge this year and is out. Our best hope for a medal now lies with Michael Conlon in the Men's Bantamweight.

Team GB just won Gold in that stupid Dressage, Charlotte Dujardin and her horse Valegro in the Women's Individual.

I just watched the winning performance in the individual dressage... with all due respect, but that looked like one of the most un-Olympic events I could possibly imagine, especially compared to the events where you're putting yourself through sweat, tears and in some cases absolute physical agony (swimming, athletics, rowing, weight-lifting e.t.c).

Having said that, amazed our team is going so well, neck and neck with China! :)
