They should adopt the Merc T-wing. That way two more people can push the car away every time it breaks down....
Correction, so Alonso has somewhere to lounge once the car breaks 3 laps into the race. :P

Honda is definitely the "power of dreams" alright, the power of the dreams of its sleeping drivers as they wait for the race to finish after their Honda engine breaks. Vtec? More like Ztec. :sly:

In the meanwhile, Fernando caught on camera giving some sound advice to Stoffel:

Do we think that e.g. Mercedes and Red Bull have to change their wheel suspension (kind of FIRC system) because of the 'complaints/questions' of Ferrari prior to the beginning of the season. FIA made an announcement about this very recently.

Is this the same thing in English? https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/fia-warns-f1-teams-over-suspension-designs-878197/

Not if they keep making it seem Ferrari are equally fast if not faster and a more stable car. Supposedly the Ferrari seems more planted, so if the system is good, they're doing a good job of not showing it.

Can we talk about the fact Ferrari were quicker on a slower compound?

Obviously both teams aren't at full performance, but even so that is extremely impressive and could be very worrying for others...

Nothing is impressive unless you have the full info of what they are running: https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/...umbers---who-went-fastest--and-furthest-.html

Last year for Example Ferrari where the fastest in Barcelona Winter testing with Force india 2nd, now we know Mercedes was faster then both and Force india was not even close to 2nd fastest.

You should be more clear about those times being from 2016... it's a shock seeing Rosberg tootling around in there! :D

I'd still say that a list of who ran how fast isn't that useful. We know that Ferrari normally push close-ish to their limits while Mercedes and Red Bull either sandbag or concentrate on high-load (slower-lap) runs, so all we know is that we don't really know. Analysts like Gary Anderson and Pat Symonds are probably better sources than pure data in this case, it needs interpreting by people with the experience of exactly this kind of testing.

I'll agree that distance-run is still an important indicator, cars that struggle to put in high mileage at tests generally have a stinker of a season. Even if they're orange this year.

Team engineers were a bit more vocal, one saying the tyres were “made of stone”, and adding that this was why the cars were not as much faster than 2016 cars as expected. But if people are concerned about one-stop races, it should be easy enough to avoid them, simply by erring on the side softness when it comes to tyre choices.

Pirelli simply can't win.

Here's a little animation which shows how a late edit of the regulations may have accidentally made the T-wing legal.
