Ah damn. I thought it was just Manufacturers that had to go to P1-H. I thought privateers could choose...I do not believe so. I think P1-H is exclusively for factory team efforts.

I don't think that's the case or Rebellion would have done so by now I would assume. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure only factory efforts can be in P1-H. Everyone else has to deal with P1-L or lower.Ah damn. I thought it was just Manufacturers that had to go to P1-H. I thought privateers could choose...
Are Privateers allowed into LMP1-H? If so, Nissan could make a fortune selling hybrid engines to teams who want to take on the manufacturers. I could see Rebellion, ByKolles, and maybe even Manor joining the P1 ranks if this is possible...

It would certainly be interesting to see what Rebellion and byKolles spend.Nothing is stopping the private teams from using a hybrid except the fact they have to use a hybrid! I know it sounds confusing, but off-the-shelf hybrids are either expensive or not sufficient to take the fight to the factories. Plus the budgets are leagues apart. Even Toyota who is the most frugal spends around $70-80million based on their comments about it being a quarter of their f1 yearly budget. Rebellion and Kolles, I wonder if they even touch 7-figures?

They must surely hit 7-figures though as €1m on a team traveling the world is very little even without having vast and expensive R&D like Audi and Porsche.
You have me wondering now...
They are all using battery storage now. Toyota was using super-capacitors and Audi flywheels but Porsche always used battery storage in WEC.I'm curious as to how expensive the hybrid system in LMP1-H are in comparison to F1's units seeing as they vary quite abit (with Audi for instance using compacitors and Porsche using the flywheel system in comparison to F1's PUs)

It is thought Toyota spends between €70m - €80m per season or about half what Audi and Porsche spend. However, if you are talking specifically about the 'power unit' cost then I agree it would be interesting to know the comparative costs.
The Audi R18 in Le Mans specification low-drag aero. A face even a mother wouldn't necessarily love.

I was always a fan of the styling of the 2014 Audi R18 e-tron quattro before the aero update. The same could be said about EVERY R18.
