My opinion is that the game was not expected to be perfect, but I can say it is better than any other racing title, or previous GT´s. For the ones who were expecting a "perfect" game, those are the ones that are not enjoying the game at full.
I expected the well knowned glitches and mistakes from previous GT´s, and so far, I´ve encountered just a few that don´t even bother me.
Standard cars: Well, I still think that was an odd move by PD, but to be honest, since yesterday I´ve been playing with them, and they are as enjoyable as the premium models. Do they look bad? Maybe on display or in the garage. On the track, you can´t even notice the difference.
Sounds: Some cars have the wrong sound samples, but hey, it is Gran Turismo. That has always been an issue. But it has been reduced alot. Most of the cars(even standards) had their sound fixed and their sound represents the type of engine they have. Others even sound like the real thing. As for the sound effects, there is no other game that delivers such an incredible expirience. Even the dopler effect is presented in an almost perfect way.
Physics: I can´t give my opinion with the wheels because I don´t have one. But with the Dual Shock, using both sticks, is beyond the smoothest expierience I´ve ever had. Although the physics are somewhat the easiest I´ve ever felt on a GT title(even with all the assists off except ABS), it makes it like I said the best racing title to be played with a regular controller.
AI: The best so far. AI drivers acctually respect your line when you´re next to them. No more being an invisible racer in the track like in GT4.
Content: Well... It is lacking events, because the B-Spec mode is taking the A-Spec´s space. But everything else compensates it. And the desision on which car was going to be Standard or Premium is a little bit strange. But like I said, Standards don´t bother me anymore.
Bottom line: Was it worth waiting? Well... We have the game, don´t we?
Does it look like a 5 year development game? Yes and no. Graphics, sounds, physics, and premiums do justify the long development. Some glitches, lack of event diversity and content and not being able to personalize standards do not justify the delay.
Am I happy with what I´ve got? My friends, excuse me, I have to go play THE BEST RACING GAME ON HISTORY. See you all!!
