John Cornyn makes Texas look like even more of a joke, and that should be impossible after he showed off that disgusting thing he called a Texas brisket.

What in the hell is this? That looks vile.

I can make a better brisket with a gas grill on my apartment balcony.

I don't recall saying anything. Just providing some more information...
I should clarify that what I'm saying is that the cops should share blame for not doing their jobs.

To summarize why the $2000 stimulus check was rejected, Kentucky person McConnell stated that the money would go to "rich Democrats" who "don't really need the money". I was not aware that if one is Democrat they are inherently rich. I would say that they might have a more rich sense of empathy, considering he continues to play politics.

He called the checks socialism for the rich. Meanwhile, over half the beneficiaries of his $1.5 trillion tax cut were the top 5% this year. The turtle is grossly out of touch with actual Americans & should Georgia give Dems full control, hopefully he becomes the first target for them to attack just so he can sit there knowing there's not a damn thing he can do anymore.

The consistent shtick of Republicans: Democrats are lazy, basement-dwelling, welfare cases ... AND rich, coastal & Hollywood elites who are not "real" Americans. You CAN have it both ways! 👍

That brisket looks like one of those shrink-wrapped things you get at Wal-Mart that you open the corner before putting it in the microwave.

It sounds like he's hoping righties will be so outraged at the prospect of Dems benefitting from the bill they'll forget about losing out themselves.

McConnell's email address has apparently been found tied to Venmo & PayPal, and now people are sending tons of $2,000 requests to both accounts.

Some are even encouraging others to send packages/requests to his office.

Hee hee...

Bold strategy, but people aren't that stupid. Not only are a bunch of r/conservatives pissed over the refusal, but they are equally upset that Mitch might be handing the Senate run-off the Dems. On top of that, Graham is calling for a vote to be held.*

*Likely just political theater to look good, though. But, Perdue & Loeffler are getting hammered for not being more vocal against Mitch.

Sadly, I think people MIGHT be that stupid.

He doesn't need everyone to be that stupid, selfish, petty or venal.

Just enough to keep him voted in.

That r/conservatives thread is full of territorial bulldogs insisting people who don't support Mitch aren't "real" conservatives but lazy unemployed benefit grabbing demonrats. Sounds like the tribe has spoken. Turkeys voting for an early Christmas (or, I guess, Thanksgiving in the US).

I'm sure there are genuine conservatives there who oppose the stimulus payment on economic principle but I think the tribalism runs deep amongst those who aren't and are willing to cut their noses off to spite their faces and support the face eating leopards.

The right wing establishment is soon going to have to forget they have any values at all if they want to stay elected (being charitable here, they clearly have already done so). Somehow "fiscal responsibility" and "free markets" don't seem like the future of the Republican party. Pretty soon all that's left of the grand old party will be working class populism, jingoism, white nationalism, and elements of fascism. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad would actually be a pretty solid Republican party figurehead - you know if he saw the whole "Jesus thing" slightly differently.

By the looks of the US COVID death statistics, the peak is Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday each week, with a drop every Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Every single day last week was the worst of that particular day so far... until this week. Yesterday was the worst Tuesday and third worst day full stop, until Wednesday...

The good news is if everything goes by the same numbers we've seen so far, the single bloodiest day of the Civil War will remain in second place until next week.

1. ~6,000 - September 8, 1900 - Galveston Hurricane
2. 3,650 - September 17, 1862 - Battle of Antietam/Civil War
3. 3,400 - December 16, 2020 - COVID-19 Pandemic
4. 3,206 - December 9, 2020 - COVID-19 Pandemic*
5. 3,115 - December 10, 2020 - COVID-19 Pandemic*
6. ~3,000 - April 18, 1906 - San Francisco Earthquake
7. 2,977 - September 11, 2001 - 9/11
8. 2,971 - December 16, 2020 - COVID-19 Pandemic
9. 2,769 - May 7, 2020 - COVID-19 Pandemic
10. 2,733 - December 2, 2020 - COVID-19 Pandemic

Only one day in the worst five in this pandemic is not in December.

As noted earlier, this excludes the Spanish Flu Pandemic of 1918-1920, as detailed records were not kept; however multiple days likely exceeded even Galveston, possibly the entire month of October 1918, and some days either side.

It needs an update. 3900 dead on Thursday.

Human remains sound like the perp who done this or a poor homeless person.
That building has these huge vents along the sidewalk and the homeless are known to sleep nearby when its cold.

Seeing footage of the explosion go almost as tall as the other AT&T building kinda had me thinking it could be ammonium but regardless it was for sure a large & violent explosion.

Looks like it was, almost unbelievably, a thermobaric or "air/fuel" bomb. For that to actually work in DIY form is pretty impressive and quite scary considering it should theoretically be easy to acquire the materials needed to make one.

If that CNN graphic is accurate, ~20% of all recorded covid deaths globally have been in the United States?

Holy ****, Trump has actually thrown the entire blame onto the Republicans for not only failing to agree to $2,000, but not repealing Section 230 (even though it was Mitch's poison pill to appease Trump).

Red spray paint on red brick. Smooth.

They're eating each other. It's hard to not grin.
