Conservatives keep pushing the idea that the Democrats have moved ever further to the left. Notably, even self-styled "Libertarians" like to promote this viewpoint:

Consider the cabinet members of Biden's administration: no Bernie Sanders, no AOC, and more to the point no Rachel Maddow, no Keith Olbermann. Then look at the clown car full of right-wing sycophants, degenerates and incompetents being pushed into cabinet positions in the Trump administration.

For Education Secretary, an office he seeks to abolish, Trump wants to install Linda McMahon. Her only experience for the role is that she has a falsified degree in education studies. Wait for someone to actually call that out.

Incidentally, despite Linda and her husband not cohabiting for several years, I expect Trump to pre-emptively pardon Vince McMahon in his federal sex trafficking case, which would be a gross abuse of power and another shroud enabling the wealthy to abuse, and evade the law.
Is there anyone in Trump's cabinet who is not in some degree associated with sex trafficking? Seems like its a pre requisite to get a gig with the GOP at this point.

Kristi Noem just shoots puppies.
Incorrect.

She's also on meth.

There's some pretty bad takes all around. My read is this:

People were upset with Joe Biden about pandemic-era social restrictions and with pandemic-stimulus-induced inflation and Trump ran a pretty effective campaign capturing young males. I don't see it as the wholesale repudiation of liberalism that some others do, because I don't think most voters are informed enough to make that decision consciously.

No. Wrong. The result absolutely validates my stilted view.

You mean Trump era social restrictions.
and with pandemic-stimulus-induced inflation
...and Trump era stimulus induced inflation.
Trump ran a pretty effective campaign capturing young males.
Young males sure do like Ave Maria.

Voting for an asshole bully specifically because he's an asshole bully who you think will bully the people you want is not exactly an endorsement of liberalism.

I didn't say they were right.

Well you presented it as logical, and I don't think it was.

You were basically appealing to the notion of a rational, logical voter who was motivated by predictable things and came to a reasoned conclusion. It is a huge mistake, and it's rampant right now. This was not a logical, reasoned conclusion. If it were, Trump was not the choice. Social restrictions were under Trump. Pandemic stimulus was under Trump. Vaccine development was under Trump. Male voters should reasonably have been extremely put off by Trump. None of it makes any sense. Until you toss rational and logical.

People voted for Trump because he's an ass, and they think that's strong. They voted for him because they do not understand leadership. And it's these exact same things that are a rejection of liberalism. So your conclusion about whether voters are rebuking the concept of liberalism is wrong. Wanting someone to bully the people you do not like is not liberalism.

In local history I would compare that to victims of the Holocaust voting for Hitler.

Trump certianly has offended a huge crowd.
Basically all female voters.
Basically all military staff (past, present and future).
And that is just the part that I couldnt avoid to read/hear about.
And that would already capture more people than he had total voters, wouldnt it?

Trump is so useless with classified information I am sure it's only a matter of time.
I'm half expecting Trump will intentionally let the info leak because Gaetz did something that rubbed his bulbous ego the wrong way. It's gonna be interesting to see just how many of his appointees manage to just survive through the first year, let alone actually accomplish anything they're claiming they'll do.

Freedom freely freedoming.

I mean it's likely ******** anyway given connie vermin's tendency toward protectionist policy like ag subsidies (corn) and tariffs (sugar), but government so small that it fits in a soda bottle?

I mean, they do produce it with cane sugar during Passover so it's not like they stopped producing that version.

A weirdly good choice to consider making Coca Cola out of actual sugar in the one market that doesn't. American soda tastes disgusting to everyone else when we're all used to sugar rather than High Fructose Corn Syrup as the sweetener.

However of course this hasn't been thought about because where are they getting that sugar from? Abroad? Nice big tarriffs to raise its price strongly. Plus, good luck with the corn lobby who would suddenly lose a lot of business they lobbied for decades ago.

Comedy, if it weren't for the fact it's screwing over an entire population.

It will be interesting to see how Trump manages to keep his coalition of assholes together. They're practically all going to be negatively impacted by one of his policies or another.

They're going to implode at some point. Whether by Trump's doing or trying to blame it on a Republican-controlled Congress that isn't "falling in line", we will see reports of people leaving. My guess is RFK Jr. b/c through all his idiotic takes, he seems like he genuinely wants to push his goals, but we've already seen Trump make him eat McDonald's days after (I believe) RFK Jr. made a negative comment about McDonald's.

Musk will be the one to watch, though. He left the first time around b/c Trump pulled out of the Paris Climate Accords, and though Musk has gotten even nuttier since, I think he will either overstep his line with something that pisses off the public that Trump has to play damage control over or Trump will do something that screws over Musk. I just don't think those two will make it 2 years without a fall out; there's already been a couple stories about how Musk literally hangs around Trump and bothers his actual team. That may also be something that gets Musk canned with Trump's advisors telling them to get rid of him the same way they told Trump to drop Loomer.

So replace a Trump stooge with someone who is vain about his appearance. There is definitely going to be ANOTHER defense secretary if DeSantis is chosen.

I'm actually surprised insurance execs are killed in greater numbers. If you've been denied coverage and are going to die anyway, might as well take out the person benefiting from denying you coverage.
