you say 'watered down' but in their defence maybe they think people like the GT4 B-Spec?

maybe they found the GT5 B-Spec hard to implement with the GT6 mission structure?

I think I'm just making excuses to hide my disappointment with this?

I wanted the GT5 B-Spec experience dammit.

I had to laugh as it described it as being useful for beating some of the old event races in Career mode. Of course, I immediately set it to beat that darned 125 Shifter Kart race (the only thing in career mode I don't have gold) and B-Spec bob couldn't beat it either. lol He did worse than I did by a longshot. Man, I hate that race. It's like an ugly scar on the forehead to me.

As for the endurance races, I actually like those, why would I want Bob to do it? lol

Hopefully they improve on this... but I somehow doubt they will.

Its kind of fun... just wish there was something new to use it with. And not being able to 'hire' a driver blows.

I'm a little disappointed in the B-Spec implementation, the feature works well enough on the track but I can't find any point to using it. No character development or sense of progression, much like the GPS Visualiser it exists but serves no real purpose for the vast majority of players
Yep. No immersion whatsoever. And it isn't even good for grinding. You cannot just set it and forget it. If your driver has an off, he doesn't get back up to speed on his own.

I've done it for three events.

-First was Like the Wind on Route X with a Huayra. Easy win. This will probably be the best "grind" option. The Bob does the job without any interference.

-Second was the 10 Lap Ascari race. Actually had to do things in this one. Was very mildly interesting.

-Third was 24 Minutes of Le Mans using the Chaparral 2X. Easy win, but with the AI's desire to pit so often and the drivers propensity to have a few offs if he's in traffic, this really is not worth the time. With 10 minutes to go I had to force myself to keep at it to the finish.

Unless/until there are new events added, the only B-Spec I will do will be the LtW Route X. Nothing else is worth the time, effort or energy. To me it is not entertaining in the least. And I was actually interested in getting B-Spec back.

Nope. It's literally your driver being A.I.-controlled. That's it.
I gotta say, Route X grinding just became a hell of alot easier! :mischievous:

This. 👍 I just made 2 mill while eating breakfast and watching a little TV. No input from me whatsoever, wins every race (using the Pagani Huayra '13) with very consistent times between 4'05.700 - 4'05.750. For those saying this is a completely useless feature and is only for noobs, that's hogwash. I am far from being a noob and I made 2 mill while only pressing a few buttons to start and restart the race.

I've did some races with it this morning. It is definitely useful.

Inferior to GT5 B-spec? Definitely, but it is useful and with the right car it wins easily.

I've found the Mazda LM55 VGT to be a good equipment in top races...

The purpose of BSpec, the way I saw it, was team management... Well, that is not the case with this BSpec... You are not driving... but... hold on, if the AI is dizzy.. you are driving, but you are not steering... hmmmm... Good feature for grinding credits... I'll use it for that... They actually got the Seasonal Events first, then the maintenance, and then the update... You said it'll be right after the maintenance, I said I'll take it sooner, no problem!

After my initial distain about the new bob I must agree he finally does have a use and that is the Route X- Like the wind, Figured I would plonk him in the Mazda LM55 and up the gearing to 286mph and he walked it, Now I can leave him alone for a few hours. Oh and if you plan on doing the same, Lower the aero also all the way down :)

Well I have to say, I'm not sure what took 15 months to release B-spec, since if anything it's significantly cut down from GT5's B-spec.

You don't have a selection of drivers, can't hire and fire, can't give them names, no variations in 'talent' or emotions, can't tell them to calm down or get more aggressive, no way for your driver(s) to gain skill and experience, can't race your Bobs against your friend's Bobs and earn money, Bob still has the same bad habits as always and is still very slow even at his fastest pace and with real time inputs, no seperate B-spec career races.

The only non-real time instruction your can give Bob are 3 different pace settings, anything else you have to do yourself in real time. With that being the case, you might as well do the driving yourself.
Correct... No team management, as BSpec was all about that.... You are not driving... but wait... you are driving by not actually "driving"...

I tried Bob in 3 races this morning.

Red Bull standard Silverstone. finished a pathetic 8th place and took some coaxing to get him that far.

Nurburgring 24 minutes using the Silver Mercedes DTM car on RS tires, managed to win that one by not pitting after the first lap and having him push hard in the rain to open up a lead.

RouteX using the Mercedes VGT easy win. No need to do anything more than start the race. Car tops out around 292mph when not drafting and a bit over 300 when coming up behind other cars. Easily takes the lead on the first straight and pulls away for the remainder of the race.

Just did all the NASCAR races on the ovals (Daytona, Indy, Motegi) and won them all on the first try. You do have to babysit your driver more here (basically hold down the throttle button until the corners), but the races are pretty damn exciting, especially Indy. Will try others races after my Dr.'s appointment.

Will definitely try that. Tried to do the NASCAR races by myself in the past and couldn't win them. :( B-spec Bob will do it for me. :embarrassed:

That's what I was hoping to hear, since excitement is what got me hooked on B-Spec in GT5.

At last, this thread's negativity meter is out of the red zone!

Those who describe B-Spec as "pointless" were either finding that B-Spec had been sadly broken in GT6, or just didn't "get it". I'm relieved that it's not broken!!

While I am dis-appointed in the overall implementation: no team, no level/training, no endurance races, no swapping driving duties (in said lack of proper enduros) it seems to be what GT has become with 6, lots of shiny novelty features with very little substance. Which is really a shame, this game could be so much more.
That being said, this can be a bit of fun once you figure it out. At Daytona NASCAR race this morning I was able to draft down the back stretch with Hamlin, cut inside approaching turn 4, nose Tony out of the way and squeeze between the two. A move that surely would have pissed the real Tony right the hell off...a definite plus in my book :D

Which tune are you using for the Huayra? I'm also interested to farm some credits without giving any real-time input whatsoever to Mr. Bob. The only thing I'm willing to do is changing the pace with the X-button popup menu at the start of the race. For the rest it's up to Mr. Bob while I go do other things IRL.

Tried some NASCAR races this morning. Twin Ring I set it and left it and BOB came third, better than I had done. Second was HSR, set it and left it, BOB drove around in 14th place up until Lap 4 when I started using real time controls, in the space of a lap and a half BOB comfortably raced to a 7th place, when I told him overtake he overtook, looked really cool after you told him slipstream then overtake to see him pull from behind the AI and speed down the road.

Well after having the game at 100% and having close to 50 mil credits, was hoping for some more exciting endurance races but guess not. Quick gold in all new events and did a test run of Midfield I don't think I would play any more. Hope there is more BSpec uses next update.

I like how B Spec works, looks like your Bob trully listens to you and pushes very hard when you command it to him. I watched there to judge it and i'm very convinced. I can sit and watch races now, and when I'll shout "Pass him in the straight!" it will impact In real time as opposed to real life :D

I was sceptical at first, but then thought about the vindictive fun possible with "dual controls". Needless to say the accelerate button delivers in spades on that front!

It's a departure from GT5, and the fast forward feature probably won't return if PD are going the interactive route. I expect the tamagotchi stuff could return once the core abilities have been worked on (this is still the same AI).

Still, it was a surprising amount of fun, and about a hundred times less frustrating than GT5's Bobs.

The AI really don't brake late or hard enough, and won't pre-emptively get on the go pedal at corner exits. With ABS and traction control, it's very easy (and fun) to do that for them, giving you a substantial advantage. At least now when you say go, Bob will go, whether he wants to or not! :D

I wonder if PD could use it for "learning"...

All they needed to do was add a separate trophy/stars for completing each event in B-Spec, maybe some prize cars, something to aim for thats all I'm asking.

I think they won't B-spec let it this way, without special b-spec events. Maybe within the Seasonal events, or maybe a special corner within the career-modus or down under the Senna & Goodwood 'options'.

This B-spec is much more fun than the previous iterations.

It's rewarding to accelerate when you want and I can finally appreciate car's details while racing.

Idea: Let the Bob finish your online race if you need to answer the phone etc. Sure it's not as quick as you but if you had a good lead he'll be able to take the victory.

And yeah as said before - I also can see PD collecting data from B-spec to make the AI faster by understanding what a particular car can do instead of relying on general system.
