Besides the eSports, What's the Point?

Its a change what is the future but again its there but then in Sports mode agains REAL people what is nicer to race then AI.......

All thats change is the name and ai forr real.

Okay haha

Any chance of how to do it help please I go to race watch the videos it's asks me to then when I go back to race I am in a place with a car and I don't know what to do from there to go racing I have pressed all buttons I did get something about entering my email address! why I don't know what that's for. So I entered email address and then nothing still none the wiser how to get on the track.

If you don't like it.... don't play it?

Go play PC2 or AC... you aren't forced to play GT Sport.

This kinda pisses me off. People have been playing GT since they were little kids, it's not that simple.

Fans attack other fans who are not happy with less. The point is, everyone would be happier if there was more content.

nteresting how PD managed to create a divided community within it's own customers.

I've been playing GT since I was a little kid BRO, and at the end of the day its a video game.

Fans act they have a given right to be given a game THEY want, if it doesn't meet there specific needs they then make posts complaining what a terrible game it is.

Kaz was pretty vocal in the lead up to GT Sport that the game is going in a new direction and won't be like previous instalments of the game - its not his fault if some fans kept believing it would turn out to be a game of old

Isn't there already an epic whining and crying thread?

Not everyone is bored by online racing. Apparently most of you can run your fastest laps the moment you hit the track, right? No practice needed, so lets cycle the races every 15 minutes so you don't get 'bored'. Maybe the problem is your attention span.

I like that the races stay up for a few days. I'm not a little kid, living on welfare, or independently wealthy, so I don't have infinite time to play every day while mom and dad (or whomever it is) take care of my responsibilities for me.

These threads are great. They blow up for a couple days, new people come and complain about the same old things and the OP gets what they want-an opinion validated. Then they fade away. The OP could have used the epic whining thread, but then there is very little validation, so here we are.
Does it make you feel good playing tough guy grown up? Whatever helps your self esteem man.

And yeah, I will go play those other Sims. And GT6. lol some people's feathers get so ruffled when confronted with facts or differing opinions and act completely childish.

Have fun with 50 cars mostly duplicates of each other and 3 real world tracks in GT Sport 2 on PS5 four years from now.

AI racing, Arcade mode, follow the in-game instructions.

Real racing, Go to main screen, DONT CLICK ARCADE, click "LOBBY" instead, pick any room, when you're in, click "go to track" and boom, on the track. You'll start in the pit lane, to move, press the accelerator. If that doesn't work, press start (bug I've found), then try again, should be fine then.

If you want to filter, the LOBBY screen has this built in, just quit that race and go to LOBBY and filter.

SPORT mode, just click SPORT from the main menu, click the left most option which should be the daily races, pick the one you want, enter the practice mode (one of the 3 or so buttons available). Enter the race before it starts in SPORT mode, and it'll auto-start for you when the race is scheduled.

I have a feeling though that you've just got the game partially downloaded, and it's in the "race before it's completed" mode. Check the details of the game from the PS4 main screen, check it's download status.

If none of that can you then I'm sorry, I tried :D

Or it was a strange troll post that I've fallen for? No idea

What made previous Gran Turismos great, was the whole sandbox collection building aspect, couple with realistic physics FOR THE TIME. Gran Turismo was in its prime long before they introduced online play in GT5 prologue.

Fast forward to 2017. Besides the Sport Mode aspect, which gets boring after a while due to the same races being run for days on end, what we have left? 160 cars, most of them duplicates of each other or fantasy cars. Tracks? Only six real world tracks, three mediocre ovals and three mediocre dirt tracks. Realistic physics? The consoles now have top notch Sims such as Assetto Corsa and Project Cars 2 which far surpass Gran Turismo imo. The physics just feel dated and not a whole lot improved since Gran Turismo 5.

So what does this game really have going for it? The Sport Mode, which has its own set of problems, can't carry the game all by itself. And with no true GT7 in the works supposedly, I think Kaz and Polyphony have killed Gran Turismo. 1997-2017 RIP
That's not the worst of it. The game so far seams to have sold well, but many of those buyers aren't happy. Only the sales figures will count though, not unhappy customers. And those sales figures will justify to Kaz to not bother improving AI or career mode again for the next edition of GT.
Whats the point of Overwatch? Beside eSports?
Well, I don't like FPS ( only liked MW), especially fantasy ones, but I played Overwatch and thought it was really good within just a game or two. Also your question lacks any thought process. That game is aimed at people who like online play, in a genre that lends itself to human vs human better than a game that many people play strictly offline.

Apparently most of you can run your fastest laps the moment you hit the track, right? No practice needed, so lets cycle the races every 15 minutes so you don't get 'bored'. Maybe the problem is your attention span.

.
Or maybe they just find the game utterly boring like myself? Maybe it feels like same ol same ol with new graphics? Many of the issues from the last 10 years are still there. Why would people who find the game boring run laps and practice when they find the actual driving boring? Many of us aren't excited by driving on butter smooth surfaces and with only 6 real world tracks to choose from. Maybe the problem is the boring game trying to live off of it's name? And not peoples attention span!

Thats your opinion so not a point ;)

.
It's also the opinion of many people and many long time GT players. It's also an opinion that many don't share but still don't like the game.
Thats your opinion so not a point ;)

Love the game its a racing game i dont get why people expect more then racing...... to point of a racing game is to race. I get what you mean compared to old titles but the only thing thats not there is more cars en tracks. Callung the rest medicore is saying that old titales where also medicore and then i ask myself why buy this game if thats to problem all those titles.

.
Something that seams to escape you is that Old titles were also of the time and not mediocre. But yes, GT5/6 were entirely mediocre. The games before that were fun. So you have a point. Space invaders was fun, am I gonna go pay £60 for HD version of it? Or shall expect more today?

You also have a point about a racing game being about racing, there are other games that offer better content to race with and on, and create a better driving feel and/ or feeling of being in a race car.

This post has nothing to do with the question that was asked in the OP.

Do I really have to get the "15%" quote out? How about the "GTS is basically GT7" quote?

Is that the same quote where he said GT1-6 is the first generation of games and GT Sport represents the next generation and is a new era of the series...?

Yeap the same, where this new era has 85% of GT Sport’s content focused on offline experiences. At least according to Kaz...

I honestly will be glad when the people making these complain threads finally quit and go play something else. Not trying to be nasty or troll, but guess what, the game is not going to change, and there are many many of us who love the online racing focus. Would i have been happy with an old school career mode, sure. Am I happy with this game as is, absolutely.

It's really amazing how consistent some people on this forum are when it comes to plugging their heads into the sand and trying defend the game in spite of the beaten down problems and complaints of the game. Ones that are only going to get louder as the shine of the game wears off and the rubber hits the road (heh) You could make the solid case that the shine is already off.

But why should I care? Polyphony obviously doesn't care about the whims of the fans that they created and courted, for lack of a better term, for 20 odd years. There's better competition within the sim racing market space that doesn't treat my opinion like dirt to be trampled on, and besides, shackling myself to one franchise for the most is asinine in this day and age.

But hey, graphical showcases and marketing buzz words, right?

Unless the server...... 5%,10% ?

That's the hilarious part of it all. Think about what you can do when the server ***** itself, which is becoming more common from what people on this very forum are posting. You can't even make vinyls or take photos, which I'm fairly certain you can do in Forza. Like come on. Why is Polyphony not getting flack for the basically always horse**** like NFS Rivals or 2015 before it? Or is EA a more attractive target to hate on then God King Kaz? Even the online save thing, which is reprehensible for all things considered, has gone over without much noise.

You do know that a good number of the members who have issues have been members here for a long time.

Nor are they trolling (GT positivity is not an AUP requirement), as such I would suggest you think about how you come across before attacking others.

They said they will fix the weird countersteering behaviour after enough of us complained. So if there are still things we feel are wrong with the game then continuing to complain may lead to improvements. Do you not want the game to be improved?

Personally, I'll be glad when all the new members who have recently signed up and think that GTS is the next coming realise that the vast majority of us here are huge fans of the series and racing games in general and just want the best game we can get.

Maybe you should reread what I said before you attack me. I did not attack or accuse anyone of trolling simply made point that this game is NOT going to change and threads like this are not going to change it only create animosity amongst players as obviously it has done for you against me.

As for your passive aggressive suggestion that I not express my opinion because I lack "longevity" , guess you're just gonna have to deal with it cause I'm here to stay baby.

Absolutely agree. Not my point about bugs etc. My point was the complaints that this is an online racing focused game and some people don't like that. I get it that some people don't like that. I also get that it is not going to change,

Quick tip. Don't double post, it's frowned upon. You can use the +Quote button to quote multiple people.

If enough of us complain about the online all the time to save or play huge parts of the game or post about how unhappy we are about the online focus maybe things will change for this game but also the next game.

Thanks for the tip. Actually thought about it but didn't know how. Will research for next time.

I agree having everything online is a pain. But my understanding is it is necessary to prevent cheating. If that is the case I would rather have no cheating and online rather than cheating and more offline capability., personally.

And that's great if it's to stop cheating but how does not letting people take photos in scapes or create liveries for their cars stop cheating?

While this is a complain thread, it does bring up a pretty valid question. What is the point of GT besides eSports? Even then, I don't think it's exactly a stellar eSports title at that especially when you look at others that fall into that genre on the market. It's also still plagued with the problems I think most online racers have, you still get people who either take it way too seriously or are out to ruin everyone's race. It needs more of a happy medium or at least races with varying degrees of options like the ghost cars and what not.

The Driving School and Missions are OK, but they get old fairly quick. They also aren't extremely challenging. I am terrible at sim racing games, yet I managed to gold most of them only after a couple of tries. The Arcade mode is better, but with the lack of tracks and car combos, it gets kind of ho-hum after a handful of races.

Winning cars at virtually every corner also makes it feel like the game doesn't really have any progression. I've only bought a couple of cars because I got the 1,000,000 boost from Amazon, but other than that it's mostly just me winning cars for completing various things. Prizes are good, but not when there's only 160 cars to get. Something like Forza it's more welcomed since there's a ton of cars in which to collect and getting some of the will take a very long time.

I really want to like GTS, it looks great, the sounds are way better, and I really enjoy the soundtrack. But the gameplay just isn't there to keep me interested.

Because it allows access to game files offline. Can they change that, I'm not sure. But it all has to do with the FIA stuff. But if you look at the op, it is not about that, it specifically addresses the esport and online racing decision by the developers. That was a design decision and no amount of complaint threads are gonna make them redesign this game.

But it may make them think twice when designing the next game. Or we can sit here, stay shtum and end up with a game that carried over features that many people don't like.

What you are basically doing is asking people not to express an opinion while expressing your own opinion. Opinions are very welcome here as long as they don't break the AUP. If you don't like it you don't need to read it or reply to it.

An important part is also the viewership of esports. Not sure many will tune in to see virtual cars running tracks.

This irks me. While I love the nostalgia of the GT3 prize car wheel system, this one is hard to back. I've won all but one I've bought. I buy a car and get another the next day. Like what's up with that. :indiff:

As far as the actual racing, it is miles above Pcars2 which is it's closest competition as Forza is not available on PS4. Also they have stated that free dlc is coming down the pike so hopefully that will add some more variety.

But it may make them think twice when designing the next game.

Maybe, but frankly, I doubt it. Sales and the success of the esport races will determine their future decisions I believe.
