Biggest "I'm an idiot" thing you've done in GT5

I spent just short of 1 million hard earned credits buying a "Lambo Murcielago LP 670-4 Superveloce '09" and modding it up to the max. It was my perfect super car that looked, drove & sounded the business then I was gutted to say the least when I realized it's no good for the GALLARDO trophy (which I bought it for in the first place). I thought to myself "What a ****ing idiot I am?".
Still a great car though & I love it to bits. It's one hell of an expensive mistake i'm keeping for sure!!!!

LOL my friend just did that. But after spending 200k on a vitz thinking it would be the best FF battle car ever. Long story short he sold it for 7k!

My girlfriend used to have an Audi A3 2.0 TDI in real life. So she bought the A3 3.2 from the used car dealership, spent almost everything on upgrades only to realize, that it is obviously not a "pocket rocket" compared to other Supercars or GTs...
She sold the car for 7.000 Credits... WHY NOT KEEP IT EVEN IF WE DONT USE IT ANYMORE ??

Apart from numerous instances where Bob has annoyed me by frequently losing insumountable leads and braking before the finish line and being pipped on the line...I myself have made a couple of blunders.

I'm sure I will accidentally quit enduro races early...but I'm not there yet.

I was in a race where my car was about the same speed as the best opposition, perhaps fractionally worse. I managed to get to the front quite early on, by being reckless and negligent, and built up a decent lead by taking tight lines and cutting the odd corner. In the final lap I slowed it down, as to not make a mistake...the cars started catching up. Came up to the final stretch, a car drafted behind me, and started trying to overtake me, very close to the line. I thought I would try and seal the victory by nudging him to slow him down. I hit him, his car was perfectly still, my car skidded about 270 degrees and into a wall. I finished 8th.

Another one...I was again in a car that wasn't any better than the opposition. I had raced the track before several times (circuit dela Sarthe)...at the end instead of taking the twisting roads in the lead up to the straight you can cut across straight and onto the straight, saving several seconds. Anyway, I was in the lead quite comfortably this time, but decided to cut across (technically cheating ) to make sure of it...I was too relaxed with the steering and put it straight into a wall. Finished 3rd last.

Its good to know that im not the only one to quit a championship 1 race early.
But my 'DOH' moments have to be:

* Buying a lambo '74, tuning it then winning a brand new one... to compound matters, i won another one from another ticket

* Buying the skylike pace car - why???

And the peice de resistance:

Winning a car, thinking i can enter it into the begginer classic cup race, dropping 100K on mods to be competitive, only to realise it was a lost cause.

Loads of stupid things ive done. I got a gallardo after one race by accident pressed the repair button ended up costing up around 123000 DOH!!!

I've had a couple of whoops moments:

Came of the right hander after the half way point on the ring but wasn't paying attention and thought I was 2 bends ahead of where I actually was so thought I was on the fast Kesshelschen (sp) section so kept it nailed. Duely plowed into the armco at full pelt 2 bends later at Bergwerk. Which is ironic cos i've actually crashed there in real life aswell.

Spent a good hour trying to beat the ghost car on the Sebastian Loeb challenge before realising that you don't actually have to beat the pace car. Think my girlfriend got fed up of me shouting "its ****ing impossible man!!!"

Took part in a 5 lap lap Nurburgring online race last night with Racing Soft tires only to have the rears blow out 5 bends into the 4th lap. In a vain attempt to try and actually finish the race I crawled round in 2nd gear only to be lapped by the leaders

Easy just to say B-Spec Bob really... Racing the other day and I gave him a car I knew he could win in. Fell asleep on lap 1 (7 lap race) after he had already gained a number of places. Wake up later to find race over and he has finished 3rd last. Re-did the race and won comfortably, so I know now to take all the credit for his wins!

Also completed half of the rallies in the game before trying it with ASM turned off.... For those that haven't, try a rally with it on! Turn into a corner and BBMMMM, Power cut completely and car doesn't turn... not until the tyres grip again at about 20mph, then you are free to accelerate and turn A LITTLE BIT. Don't even think about letting the back step out or accelerating quickly!

The award though? Spending cr.5,000 on a go kart as my first "car". Then finding I can't use it.... Great, where I was before but I now have cr.15,000 for my first USABLE car! Kick in the teeth moment when I progressed to level 1 and was rewarded with a go kart!

Buying a Lupo cup car for the Lupo Race, tuned it a bit, after the race i sold it, as a price car i got another Lupo Cup car, also sold that.

then i realized you also need to do that race with B-Spec.

So.. now its on searching for a Lupo in the 2nd hand cars area.


Did the same with the Pickup race, bought one 2nd hand, and sold it then went "duh" and took around 20x new cars! for me to get one and i had to fully tune it (lotta cash) to get Bob to win the Daytona race.

Doing the final NASCAR challenge at my mates house last night. I drafted it perfectly and got infront of the lead 3 (18,11,88) I was a second ahead and suddenly (NASCAR refrencing here) I got completly freight trained by the other 10 cars. That was an epic quadruple facepalm.

I posted here recently about an RX7 I had that seemed to be almost uncontrollable. Than I found out that the downforce settings where not touched....

The first night I played the game, doing the B Licence last event with the Honda CRZ around one lap of the the oval. I did it over and over again but the best I was getting was 4th place, the first three cars were way ahead. I got annoyed, turned off and went to bed. Next day I went back into into it and as I was coming around the last corner, I noticed the rev limit light flashing. Odd. I pressed to change up a gear, went to 6th gear, caught and passed the top three and won the race.

So the CRZ has 6 gears... who knew!!

1) Got a Chromeline Jaguar off the Comp on FB put a Turbo on it as it wasn't Quick enough , now it sounds like a Vaccum Cleaner

2) B-Spec Bob got nagged to Death and I got the Zonda R , Put a turbo on it and , well Same Result as the Jag

3) Saved 5 Million CR so I can Buy the FGT if it ever Turns up went to the UCD and Found my Fave GT Car the Jaguar XJR-9LM spent over 4.5 million buying it . Tested it at my Fave Track and Decided to Upgrade it . Yup anutha Turbo Upgrade and another Vaccum Cleaner sound

4) Unistalled the Turbo from Sad Jag , Cleared the Cache in the Network Settings Praying the Jag will get it Old raspy sound back....nope

5) Got a GTR-500 Turboed it same Result arghhhhhhhhh...........

6) Took the GTR to the Jumper Track wactched it Barrell Roll 18 Times and think thank **** its only 500cr to get it straightened out again , this was the first time i had Driven it

7) Bought a RUF Yellow Bird from the UCD and thought hey I can drive this No Problem without any Aids , first Corner 140mph Wipe out into the Barriers

And Finally

8) Got too Level 30 A-Spec by Playing 15 hours a Day since release 10 Days ago , get in the X1 , Two Days and 30 hours later i'm still 1.7seconds off Bronze at the first Track

I have wondered about that retire thing after the fifth race. Never was curious enough to click on it though. I always enter the race start it and then exit to get the prize money for the championship.
now I know the answer. Glad I did not do it

So, if i enter the final race of the series and then quit after the start i still get the credits right?

Bought a stage 3 weight reduction, but didn't click install now. Couldn't install it in the tuning menu, had to spend 20000 to get it again...

Going to make you feel even more of an idiot, that weight reduction is most likely in your items menu.

I've done that, luckily it was only with a set of dirt and snow tires, and I ended up using them on a different car later.

I was playing while tired the other night on the Top Gear tack. The A.I. and I got into it a bit early on and knocked out a ton of the cones. Several laps later I couldn't figure out which way to go and got lost for a few seconds.

Went into the garage to switch cars so I could do some B spec racing. Went and bought different tires for it - only to realize I hadn't waited long enough for the car to switch before pressing X, so now I had a set of worthless tires installed on my previous car.

Got my B spec guy into second place in the Historic Car race. Probably the best I could have hoped for, but I had to press overtake one more time and try for the win. Bob slid off the track and finished 9th.

Was doing the Nascar series, won the first four races, but by the time I got to Daytona, I was so paranoid of the AI cars that I was trying to stay way on the bottom of the track to avoid them. I accidentally got off the banked part and down on the flat. Being an idiot, I though maybe I could go faster down there. Yeah...you can't go faster down there.

I love the Rally 205. Got the roadversion too. Lovely Cars. I was sitting there for about 3 min and was thinking about if i should or not. Then i thought maybe i wont see it anytime soon again i just pressed x on purchase

I regulary go to the B-Spec events, have a look what i want to start. Have a look at restrictions. Go back to GT-Home. Go to the tuner and till i am there i dont know which tires are allowed anymore or buy the wrong one. .. so redo whole thing

Did some more stupid things with my money last night/this morning. Bought a racing mod on my Lotus after I had already spent a ton modding the car and then realized that I couldn't even use it yet for the British Lightweights because I hadn't gotten my A-Spec level high enough. To top it off, the touring car I'd been waiting FOREVER to show up in the Used Car lot had come and gone before I could raise enough money to purchase it. I would have been able to buy if I didn't waste $$$ on the racing mod.

I spent two whole nights searching for an FGT by scrolling through b1-b5 on the licences.....

About 3 times i accidently went through to b6 (missing 6 cars in the UCD)

About twice i exited b5 then went straight back into b1 (again missing 6 cars in the UCD)

Thankfully i must not have missed the FGT in those situations but I was most certainly annoyed at the thought.

Another "idiot moment" Ive had wasnt in GT5 but rather from just playing it soo much. I havea G27 and a couple times when driving to and from work Ive tried to shift into 6th gear, only to remember my car is a 5 speed. Or the other day I went to back up and tried pushing down on the gear selector, when on my car I have to pull up on a sleeve and put it by 1st gear.

I spent a few hours maxing out my 64 GTO and testing all the settings because i love that car. I couldn't for the life of me figure out why it wasn't oversteering more even with TC all the way off. I happened to look behind mid corner and noticed that a wall of smoke was coming off one tire. I had every tuning part except the limited slip diff! It was peg legging half way around the lap. lol.

gt4 - half way through endurance race yanked controler ps2 fell off stand and set on fire. 11 years i had it. lol i sold all 26 games for a tenner =)

gt5- letting bob loose in a hard race when he was level 1 lol
