Birds of steel.

Just found out today about Birds of Steel coming soon, I enjoyed playing Birds of Prey up to a point where I wasn't able to finish some of the last missions and was regularly slaughtered online (me just being a terrible noob), if there was someone online at all that is.

Another thing that made me lose interest eventually was the fact cockpit view wasn't available for the axis-planes.
That I hope isn't the case with this latest title (does anyone know for sure?) and it does seem terrific value.
It would be a dead cert buy for me if I knew I wouldn't be completely crap at flight sims or at least would learn to use the whole sky without becoming disoriented (which happens to me a lot....). :ouch:

It surely is tempting considering its price and the extended amount of content on offer, even if it just means getting used to adopting the role of a sitting duck for me ;)

^ cockpits confirmed for all fightere axis too.

Dont know about bombers.

And I will happily teach you to fly well.

And we still play BOP often in the evening.
Some vids.

Good I will try and load that.

Cockpits Im sure are for all, have seen some new screenshots, Me 110 and Val. But not sure about heavy bombers.

I think I read in the ign review that all planes have cockpit view except the bigger bombers. idon't know if that means all bombers or just the really huge ones

^ I think just the really huge ones.

BTW more vids.
Wake Island mission

Carrier landing tutorial.

Thanks H.

Not liking the cutscenes, whereby they skip after take off to high altitude. Why? Can't believe IGN would miss out that little detail.

Other than that it looks superb.

Well a preview said you could fly all the way or skip it. Maybe this is a half way thing like realistic difficulty where you take off but it skips the flight.

Hope so mate. Some of these reviewers hardly look into the options. Seems a really strange way of doing it, Throttle,Pull back and raise gear then fast forward.

I mean surely when landing there not going to fast forward you to the moment just before touchdown.

In most of the poor reviews its quite clear they did not play the game much or care about the game.

A line from Ps mag

Does any phrase in the English language invoke more merriment and cheer than ‘historically and physically accurate flight sim’? Okay, millions of them. With such attention to detail on the rather dry subject matter of WW2’s Pacific conflict

I mean if that does not say I am only reviewing this because I get paid then what does.

I see your point.
We will find out for sure when our American cousins get it on Tuesday.

Still going to get it no matter, just would be a bit of a dissapointment if true.

Same.
BTW I think BOP was Gaijins first game. They are now russia's biggest game company and Anton only left Uni in 2003 and I think they deserve it every bit.

I think that's simply because this is a specialized game/sim, some people can't see that the real enjoyment stems from enthusiasm for the actual planes and flying them.
Same with games like GT5, it's cold and clinical if you don't like planes/cars and if it doesn't include bells and whistles to spice it up.
But then again, maybe it's deliberately written from a casual gamer perspective to a casual gamer perspective and their general expectations being taken into account.
It's always worthwhile to read more than one review written from more than one perspective anyway.

^ I think its someone who thinks if I need to spend longer than 5 minutes to learn how to fully enjoy the game then its a bad game.

Didnt even bother reviewing multiplayer if you look at the score.

Would like to know if you can still drop bombs when flying upside down.

Silly I know but I want to know.

The official BoS forum kind of looks like GTPlanet when GT5 came out :)
All these excited people that got the game versus the bunch that needs to wait a couple of days longer.

Apparently the controls need getting used too as they are more sensitive to BOP but after you learn its great.

The results of dislikes and likes of the BOS forum.

Dislikes 1
Likes the rest of the forum.

Status. Dispatching soon.

I'm fine. My arm is in Plaster anyhow. Happy painting cars in Forza lol.

Dispatched via city link. Due tomorrow.

Is it possible to set up a lobby with forced cockpit view etc?

Not a single store in my area that has the game.
I had pre-ordered it at Gamemania, who are usually quite good with having everything on release or the day before. But now they first changed 'release date' to March 16, and when I checked again today on the website says March 17...

Not happy with this... :(

I have the game.
And I have just done the tutorial.

And I love it its a great game and I have only done the tutorial.
