I read on the BoS forums that all the DLC so far are just unlock keys and the actual data are already on the disc...
Someone who has bought it who can confirm?

Am really tempted to buy Battle of Britain and Stalingrad, but if more is coming I might get more picky ;)

The p47 was but is DLC due to licence requirements I think I remember being said. The rest is not on disc IIRC.

When I play the portion of the game that allows you to score credits (dynamic campaign offline I think its called) for purchasing planes; how do you get to choose the plane? It seems you can only choose the year and hope for the plane from your hanger  Seems to depend on mission too (of course bombing requires non-fighter plane.

And online aspects (only tried a few times when I had few planes) confusing to me too-been awhile since I tried it out, so I'll give it a go again this weekend.

Tally ho!

Thanks for clearing that out. Then they were just some trolls on the BoS forum spreading false rumors :)

I've been wondering about the same. Although it seems that when you purchase a new plane, the planes for some type of missions change to that one.

Haven't played that much online yet because of the lag I was experiencing. Never could hit enemy planes unless they were bots. Maybe it improved now though.

Online play is the fastest way to earn war points and buy new planes (and repair any damages incurred.) Planes automatically repair for free after six hours, so if you want to avoid spending, you just select another aircraft - apparently that's just to encourage you to use different planes instead of sticking with the same one.

The lag I haven't seen too much of, but I hear it depends on connection issues from certain areas, notably Japan although there may be others too. That is not a dig against Japanese players, just when a few are in the room, the lag appears to be at its worst.

The patch hopefully will stop all of that.

Couldn't resist and bought the Stalingrad map pack yesterday. Really cool maps and difficult missions, althought the latter may be due to the fact that I didn't play the game since May ;)

Hey there was an update of about 30 MB; any news on what? - I learned mostly to improve online play 👍

And I finally landed the Catalina! Trick was to land farther out and taxi gingerly in

I will have to try online again this weekend.

Tally ho!

Enjoying online play (before F1 2012 comes out), except lag sometimes makes for an impossible task of tracking your 'prey' to shoot

I lost all my planes and level 20 after I stupidly said yes for more 'prestige':ouch: :yuck::dunce:

Back to square 1 :grumpy:

How do you improve your pilot rank (from private to Air Marshall)?

Don't you get so many war points for getting prestige in the first place that you can buy them all back again - leastways that is what I read on the Gaijin forum from a few of the regulars.

Rank, I'm not entirely sure of. I think some of it relates to advancing through the SP but also achievements in MP have earned me a promotion or two. Like I say though, I'm not entirely sure.

Yes; less of a hassle than I realized; I was at least I was able to buy back all my planes and now I am moving up in rank.

Really enjoy the game; playing more and more using 'simulator' mode

Anyone who is playing the game with a stick?
I've been on the verge to buy a Thrustmaster Hotas X, but I've seen mixed experiences on other forums...

Thanks, but I'm not sure if the sticks react the same on Birds of Steel or not.
Resourceful forum on BoP though :)

No worries - I have seen threads where BoP players and earlier have found ways to adapt their peripherals to other Sturmovik games. Hopefully there might be some advice about the compatability of the Hotas X in there.

It is a lot of wading through stuff, but you're right, it's a good resource and that time is rarely wasted.

Just bought this game.

Im lovin' it, this was the game that i needed to have a "complete" collection of games on the ps3. (a cars game, FPS and WWII planes game).

It's really fun, and the history videos are good too.

Do you still play it while there's War Thunder? ;)
What things does BoS have which WT doesn't?
Well, as I don't have a gaming PC I am still playing BoS :sly: I actually didn't play much of it for almost a year, just catching back up with things recently while waiting for E3 and avoiding coming on here.

As far as I'm aware, there are still core players meeting online. When War Thunder lands on the PS4 I'll certainly migrate.

I think I'm a few short of it - one in particular is proving quite challenging - hitting five vehicles on simulator difficulty during a particular mission. A bit of perseverence is called for I think. I did manage to do all of the training on sim and a few of the missions, but I'm in no hurry as I just got two of the DLC packs :)

Why is it that no screenshot ever got posted up here? I have over seven hundred shots from the missions and dynamic campaign - surely one of the best features of the game was the beauty of it.

No one interested? Then how about a few more action shots?

What with War Thunder approaching full release in the summer and the coming PS4 update allowing for more expanded capture options, such as replays and screen-shots, I thought I might fire up a thread for screenies from any of the Gaijin flight games.

But I'm thinking now that there wouldn't be much point if there was no interest...

Those shots make me want to fire up BoS again :)
Thanks - I like that War Thunder uses the same maps and structure as BoS so I'm focusing more on that right now. Essentially for anyone who hasn't played it, you can get BoS for free by playing WT with some extra planes thrown in (as well as tanks and ships...eventually.)

I don't have a PS4 or a PC that's man enough to run WT properly, so I'm stuck with BoS on my PS3 for the moment.

Well, it hasn't fully released yet, I think that's a TBA for the summer according to the PS Blog, so you'll have plenty of time. How are you enjoying the Dynamic Campaigns - that's where I got most of my photos. Some nice atmospheric maps that can change weather and time of day each time you play them.

The dynamic campaigns are great. As there are so many options, you get something fresh each time around. They don't beat some of the fixed single player missions though.

By the way, do all planes have a cockpit view in WT? In BoS most big bombers didn't have it.

Not yet. It is still in open beta though and getting updated constantly.
