You can go free practice before going into the invitationals...But then again I also think if you start the first session of the invitational, like free practice, and don't finish it, i.e. quit before the session is over, I think you can still skip it.
Yep, you can. Also, even if you do get to the end of the first session, on the final timing screen you can exit there too - as long as you click "No" when it asks if you want to save your progress, you shouldn't be committed to the series.

:cheers Thanks, I thought so. So I really don't see the problem of the way it is now, since the game knows that you participated and assumes that you want to complete the invitational. Plus last resort you can retire each race and be done with it in less than 5 minutes. And the results aren't tallied anyways and you can always redo the invitational the year after or next.

i just finished my 19º season; I did everything from karts to LMP1, Touring to LMP1 and Prototypes to LMP1 again.
My next task is completing all acollades and unlock every single invitational event, hopefully SMS can continue to expand this using the DLC cars and tracks aswell.

I've just lost everything due to a corrupt save. Approximately 9 seasons in. I thought corrupt saves were the kind of thing you would encounter on a PS1. for ****'s sake. !!!!!!!!!1

I was hoping to get a contract offer to use the Bentley GT3 next season from the DLC i recently bought.

For my career I started in Touring class, and making my way up the same tier, currently in GT3. Probably going to do defending champ first. When I want to do Zero to Hero, can I use the same career and just start in karting and make my way up? Or do I need to start a brand new career and start from karts from the very get go?

Yowza, is the AI fast at Watkins Glen! After jumping in GT3 I bumped the difficulty up to 90 and won by 15 seconds at Laguna. At Watkins Glen I only qualified for 12th and during the race worked my way up to 8th. I steadily started to fall back as my tires started to go. I was in 10th place on the last lap when I over shot my exit on the fourth to last corner because I was thinking about fuel. The AI clipped my rear and set me into the wall. As a result I ultimately finished 14th. Still damn fun though.

Although, the AI did seem impossibly fast through the sweeping right hander after the chicane on the straight. Everywhere else I was able to at least come close to their pace.

Just finished race 1 at Brno in the GT3 Euro Championship. Led for 6 laps (out of 19), got passed, then was able to repass the next lap to take the lead again, which I held until the last lap. First time ever racing using manual tranny, but still fared pretty well aside from redlining before shifting several times. The gap between second place and I was never greater than 2 seconds. Start of the last lap it was about a second. Going into turn 12/13 messed up my shifts and shifted into 1st on accident, killing my line and my drive out of 13, losing the race (2nd place). Infuriating!!!

Had a brilliant season in GT4 in the Ginetta on 80%....narrowly missed out on the Asia cup, coming 2nd...last race Bathurst in the rain was a real tough one!

Then i won the Euro cup by 18 points in some really close battles...had some of my best racing in that series.

On to GT3 in the Ginetta...ready for that engine noise!!

Ive got to say the Oschersleben track was great to drive on..some lovely flowing corners and chicanes.

Just done my first career race with the Clio .Two race ,16 lap and difficulty at 100% at Donnington .First race starting from 11 place to end up 14 place . Second race (with pit to stop)started 5 place to end the race 4 place .Big fun those lion's .Now to Snetterstone 200 .:-)

Had a chance to squeeze in a practice session at Road America. I had the second fastest time, I left a second or two out there but I'm not sure I can out pace the first place AI. Is the some kind of attack helicopter that Mercedes Benz makes? Ha ha ha.

Same thing happened me during a practice session at Brno. I set a fairly decent time of 2.01.4**, I didn't skip to end of session but waited out the rest of the session in the pits as there wasn't enough time to get an out lap and timed lap finished in time. Next thing I notice one of the AI does a lap in the 1.30's. Wish I had that guys tune lol.

Yeah, pretty much the same for me; I played the entire practice session. I'd set the fastest times before and then skipped to end of session, only to have the AI best me by a few seconds. But never by 30.

Probably a "flying lap" bug. Possible in the attempt to correct the AI Qualifying lap times when fast forwarding, they introduced a new one.

I managed two wins from two races in the UK GT3 championship at Donington, but I almost lost the first race. I lost the rear end of my Mclaren on the second last lap but the Merc behind me went into my door stopping the slide. I managed to overtake the Merc on the last lap on the final corner, but not without forcing him wide. The second race was interesting because a BMW was hassling me in the last 10 laps but thanks to lapped traffic he stayed behind me. It's the kind of experience I want GT7 to give.

I finally made it to LMP1:D And I'm off to a pretty decent start. The sprint race i did at nurbring gp was kinda intense. I was running 3rd majority of the race and then I finally started to gain on 2nd and passed him. So I was 2 seconds back from 1st with like 3 minutes to go in the race and caught him going into the last turn on the last lap (time was up) and was right behind him and he brake and brake of course and he brake some more for some reason and I ran into him and put him in the grass and went on to win:lol: Like we was down to 50 mph and then all the sudden he slows more and I didn't know he gonna do that. It was a little bump but he still went into the grass. I hate winning like that but I guess I can say that's payback for all the times the AI did me wrong:lol:

I'm currently tuning the Mclaren F1 for the 3hr Zolder race as that's as far as I've got through career. no rush though. I'm in the process of tuning a load of cars before committing to lots of MP as the stock set ups don't suit me that well and I want to at least give myself half a chance of competing with some of the guys out there
How did you get on with the tune m8? I'm about to start it and am looking for some tuning tips for this car.
I'm suffering with really bad under steer in the practise session.
Do you have any tips?

Well I thought I had a decent tune before I did that race. Drove the car on several tracks and it was handling ok. When I finally attempted that race it handled like crap. Was really strange, so I had to retune it but it wasn't going well at all.

I lowered the race time to 1hr, still was unhappy with the drive, then down to 30 mins as I thought I could handle it for that long but in the end retuned it again and it actually became driveable.

One thing I will say is that I skipped the practise sessions and quali because it took too long to warm the tyres, could barely complete a decent lap on cold ones. I went straight to the race, drove for a bit, quit and retuned until I was happy. Raced at 70%, won from the back of the grid. I'll try to send you a shot of my tune when I can.

Apart from the handling I gained several seconds by effectively getting rid of first gear as I lowered all gear sliders by one notch, allowing higher revs throughout the gears and could get more speed. Works really well for this car.

I was just enjoying one of my first career races. GT3 in an SLS at Laguna Seca, the sun's setting and I'm putting in some consistent laps. All's well. Seventh lap, and I pit for the mandatory tyre change, the team do their work and I go on my merry way. Fifty metres down the road... "What's that funny noise?" Bloody hell! The pit crew had sabotaged my wheels. They'd changed the tyres (I suppose) and forgotten to pump the tyres up. Or had they simply let the air out of all of my tyres? I don't know. I wasn't watching that closely.

Anyway I redid the race (restarted it, and also exited and reloaded it), and the same thing happened a couple more times. I'm stuck.

Is this a bug? Am I doing something wrong? Do I have to supervise the crew's work more closely? Perhaps the crew don't like me? Should I fire the whole crew? Can I hire a new crew? Is it a motivation problem? Should we go on a team-building session?

What can i do to avoid this re-occurring? Will it always happen at this particular race? Has anyone else had this problem at this race (GT3, first event, Laguna Seca, Race 2)?

Apparently this is a bug and the workaround is to edit your pit strategy when you enter the pits and change the tyre pressures by 0.01. Then save and you should be okay after the pit stop.

Just won the opening rounds of the Ginetta G40 UK Challenge at Oulton Park. The AI seem to be considerably slower in these cars - I was having good battles in the Clio at 90% but even at 100% they're a second and a half a lap slower than me?! Is it just the track- I know they take some corners far too slowly.

That being said, I enjoyed the main race as I started from last (forgot I had to do 2 quali laps!) and had some decent battles. The International layout is considerably more technical and fun to drive - the two chicanes are very hard to get right as the G40 is very unstable under braking. This meant I had to brake quite early whilst on the straight and line it up correctly. Spun there many times!

Edit - Just completed the Donington quali + race - 4 secs quicker on 100% in quali and won the sprint race by 25 secs? What is going on???
:irked:

Thanks a lot for the tip.
I'm new to Career events, so excuse my ignorance - how do I get to the interface to edit my pit strategy when i enter the pits? When I went into the pits, I don't remember there being any option menu come up.
Also, you say"change the tyre pressures by 0.01" - is that .01 more pressure, or less?

You should get a pit stop menu pop up when you enter the pits.
You can adjust the pressure up or down, apparently you just need to make a small change to get around the bug.

Yeah, great! That's it. I saw it; I hadn't noticed it (triple screens - too far on the left). It worked, I altered the pressures by as little as possible and left the pits with tyres intact

I got the game on Thursday and I'm really loving it, even if the karts are painful to drive -_-. I'm currently in Season 4 in the LMP3 Semi-pro Euro championship driving a lovely Gulf coloured Caterham. The only issue is that some of the opponents are in Radical SR8's, which are about 2 seconds a lap faster than the Caterham, meaning that myself and the other Caterhams can only finish around 8th or less. Kinda sucks that I'm gonna have to sit through an impossible championship, but hopefully I can still move up to LMP2 next season.

Just started a new career. Currently in 4th season gt3, but figured I'll start over to get the zero to hero and start in karts. Should have done that from the get go.

Pick a radical instead?

Round 3 qually 1 in the GT3 Euro championship driving the RUF GT3
at Spa , just put it on pole for race 1 setting a 2:22:563 on softs . How competitive is that lap ? I don't play online as I'd probably get my ass whooped but that lap felt pretty good . I'll probably screw up the race mind
