Anyone know if the research and design bug has gone.

Whilst testing in free Practise, if you saved and come back to Practise two the R&D has just vanished.

Thanks if anyone knows this.

This was something the patch fixed I think, but I wouldn't quit before qualifying in case.

I think it was also missed (though in the videos) but safety car is included and sounds like they have implemented it well! Red flags as well, which i wasn't expecting. Both mean no more cars retiring and then almost instantly dissappearing back to the pits. PLUS the AI sounds really intelligent as well. Cannot wait, and I think I will need to book some holiday for a couple of weeks time....

Patch for 2010 didn't fix that error mate.

Hopefully all issues from 2010 have been addressed.

Mr. S
I'm actually praying to the developers that Monaco won't suffer from FPS drops yet again.

Be nice if developers allowed users to scale back on textures etc, like PC users.
Would allow better frame rate for folks who want it.

Indeed. It's kind of sad to see that one can have like -0.6 seconds compared to the AI at the end of sector 2 but has like +0.7 seconds at the finish line...simply because you haven't had luck and guessed well enough where your car would end up in the chicane. :/

Oh and yeah, I hope the pit crew isn't working against me anymore...I've been held up for like 14 seconds today even tho there was a lot of space in between a Red Bull and a Ferrari. Thanks for making me finish 3rd instead of 1st, team....

That was a glitch, one that Codemasters addressed with a patch. The game was supposed to hold you in the pit box if there was a car close by (thus avoiding a dangerous release), but the glitch meant that it waited until all the cars in pit lane had passed you. It won't be a problem in F1 2011 because they're eager to avoid a repeat of it.

^They most certainly did not address it fully in any patch, I still get held too long in the pits in 2010 if 2 or more cars pit roughly the same time.
If say we have Ferrari, Renault, McLaren, Mercedes all alongside each other and they all pit and I'm the Ferrari at the very end - I will be held in my pit box along with Renault and McLaren until after Mercedes has finished their stop..despite there being space. It stupidly stacks up the pit-releases, so Mercedes release then Macca then Renault then Ferrari (or whatever teams are adjacent to each other)...rather than being released when there is clear space.

It also sort of happens when leaving the garage in practice and qualifying but obviously its less damaging in these periods of gameplay.

This happened to me yesterday at Sao Paulo ( Brazil ? ) . I went from 9th to 13th in a matter of seconds because of this. I even got into the pits first lol. I couldn't make up any more places after that so I finished 13th in the race.

I mean, it's easy to avoid - but sometimes you just don't want to pit a lap early. :P

No warm up lap in 2011, as the devs said they wanted to get higher-priority things in first like the Safety Car and red flags.

I believe one of the devs said maybe in a future year, it's on their radar for sure.

Really, really hope the tyre temps will be more important, and harder to manage in F1 2011. The tyres in F1 2010 seemed to have an operational window of about 100 degrees. You could coast around in the wet and they'd still be fine, or you could do a loop of turn 8 at Istanbul repeatedly and they would not overheat.

...and once up to temperature you could stop the car and wait and the temperature wouldnt drop...👎

Well that's a shame, I'd have thought with the new tyres that the temp at the start of the race was important

I don't think I'll get it as soon as it comes out - I might wait a week or two, just in case there are bugs and glitches again.

And while I like the idea of an increased difficulty level, I'm not sure I'll have the time to commit to it.

How can safety car be more important than the warm up lap I wonder? I'm aware of the many years of gamers requesting safety cars in F1 games and it has finally resulted in one. For shame. Because I never thought and I still don't think that will bring extra fun into the game. It will be like be able to break the glass in NHL12. Fun to watch once and then just a shouldershrug or even annoying eventually. The warm-up lap is more important.

In F1:CE, it meant you could build up critical heat into the tyres - you then started with better tyre temperatures than if you start the race without a warm-up lap. It gave you quite the advantage if you made use of it in the first lap, and conversely, if you start the first lap with cold tyres it was a big disadvantage.

Totally agree with what your saying.
Maybe CM let you start with some temperature though.
Everyone is in the same boat temperature wise.

TBH if the safety car is implemented all they had to do was put Pole AI as the role of SC and bingo, warm up lap.
Shouldn't have been that hard to introduce really.

Yeah, I actually really enjoyed the parade lap feature. I started to realise it was important the first time I raced Suzuka, made no effort to warm up the tyres, then span out at the first bend. Taking out Albers.

Needs to have a 'disable' option though.

Very puzzling the game will lack the warm up lap. Granted I do skip the warm up laps in rFactor and such most of the time. But its a hint they're still leaning a bit more towards arcade which might displease the hardcore PC sim audience. Codemasters may not consider them their core audience obviously though. Very exciting this game is nonetheless with the Safety car addition

If they could, and its profitable, I am sure they will release a new game each year; maybe by download instead of physical disc?

As for warm up lap; as long as tyre temps are same for all competitors, no complaints here; I wonder how often safety car may get deployed ?
