Alan off VVV gamer should be banging up a video soon.

He's about the best IMHO.

ISR are alright but probably have to wait a few months for them.

From the Eurogamer review:
Racing itself is enhanced by AI that's more consistent than before, and it passes the Retifilio challenge - the racing genre's equivalent to the Turing Test - well enough. Pile into Monza's first corner and the 24 cars will maintain a respectable speed, dodging each other and not coming to a standstill like they so often do in the genre.
I guess Tonio Liuzzi failed it, though ...

It's good that they've got the Safety Car now, but I must wonder how often it will actually turn up. Usually the only way to have crashes that require it are to start them yourself. Unless of course it will appear every time there are heavy rain conditions.

Yeah, I actually really enjoyed the parade lap feature. I started to realise it was important the first time I raced Suzuka, made no effort to warm up the tyres, then span out at the first bend. Taking out Albers.

Needs to have a 'disable' option though.

In Monaco it was critical. Even on softs I found it was hard to build heat into the fronts unless I had warmed them properly during parade lap. And that meant significanly worse grip.
The method was however quite questionable. For the fronts to become green on some short, windy tracks (Monaco f ex) you had to use one brake balance option of maximum to the front and then while accelerating and swerving also pump-braking hard. That poor engine :)

Almost as good as this, warning, this video will make you REALLY want to play F1.

That is epic:tup:

Gamespot UK gave a 8/10. The only cons for the game are: steep learning curve, F1 knowledge, and possibly a FFB wheel to master the handling. Perfect. Sounds exactly what we are looking for. Thought this was a good review. Usually when racing games are too hard or more sim natured, reviewers for some reason give low ratings. Seems this reviewer knows what he/she is talking about.

Agree 100%! That's exactly what I want to hear. I cannot wait for this game. Here's a great interview with Stephen Hood, the developer. Seems like a guy trying to make a name for himself, so he's motivated. He even says in the interview, "I certainly have every reason to make the game as good as possible... (paraphrased)", after they were asking about his developing future and the future of the F1 game.

Well considering in 2010 AI crashed on their own, I'm thinking they will in this one lol

I am debating on getting this game or not. I have F1 2010 and play it sparingly but most of the videos of the 2011 version look great. I'm bored of GT5 so maybe this new game will be the ticket to getting my wheel out more often.

Gamespot video review, best quality gameplay footages so far. Probably a bit too ignoring the flaws, we'll have to find out by ourselves, but again, great graphics here.

Wish I had a top end gaming PC. This game deserves better than a choppy framerate.

Bah. One day I'll have my rig.

It would've been nice to hear more about Gamespot's reason for giving it an 8.0. They were talking so much about the positive side that I haven't really heard the flaws that pulled it down to an 8.0.

Can't wait to see what the modders will do with the graphics. I still think the sepia tint is too high, and it's lacking just a tad of contrast to it. It will look fantastic when the modders come out with their version of F1 2011's lighting mod.

They said it was too hard for newcomers which IMO is a good thing as it means realistic racing.

I'm a newcomer LOL. I'm not buying 2010 i would rather just wait and get the new one with all the new stuff, but I don't think they said it will be too hard for newcomers. They did say if your not really and F1 fan it could be hard to understand some elements of the game and if you don't have a FFB wheel then it will be very hard to race on more realistic settings. I think it will maybe take me longer to get used to the game compared to someone who has played 2010 but thats the same with any game.

Anyone one else notice what was said in the review? You don't have full control of car during safety car. The reviewer gives the impression that maybe we can only control steering and car adjustments during the safety car. No big deal, just pointing it out.

I think main reason it only got 8/10 is because its not beginner friendly from the sounds of it. I get tired of all these people wanting all games to be accessible for everyone to play. Theres a fine line to catering to newbs and keeping the general fans happy. F1 is a niche title and most likely won't attract too many new people to it no matter what they do.

I stay away from FPS games cause I'm terrible at them. Theres nothing a FPS developer can do to make me buy one, period. Unless they put a racecar in it with crazy machine guns and rocket launchers so I can race it around shooting everything that moves.:sly: Yup, that won't happen.

I stick to racing cause I'm decent at it. Its just annoying that if a few people can't play a game, developers go back and "dumb down" the game. Don't do that Codies.

I'm sure there is a few bugs in it. They probably won't pop up till we all start playing next week. I just wonder how much these reviewers actually play the game their reviewing sometimes. Do they do 2 hours, a day, a week? Interested in how much time they put in to come up with the score and conclusion they got.

That's been known ever since it was announced that the safety car was in. Top speed is limited, no doubt to stop people from passing the safety car (or the cars in front) to build a lead up.

I think it be that you have a certain type of distance window between yourself and the other cars to work with. There is an interview with the developer where he says that you will be able to both weave AND do burnouts during safety car sessions to get temperature into your tires.
