Already some possibly wonky physics confirmed thanks to Team VVV. Go to about 7'05" for the 130R w/o TC commentary.

What the heck is wonky about him putting the car on the painted area with less grip and spinning while the car was losing a little bit of traction after going over the bump full throttle?

👍

I agree. May have turned out differently if all four tires on the racing surface. It is well known that the rumble strips and the green astro turf stuff(think thats what it is, I don't know:)) can be slick at very high speeds. Not to mention upset the balance of the car.:tup:Me too.

^Agree with both of you, and also he said he needed to work with set up further, so I think he did lack the downforce for TCS off. Also TCS off seems realistic especially from the onboards I've seen during races. 👍👍👍

Picked it up at midnight. So far it is amazing! The physics are FAR better than '10. My only complaint at this time is the graphics on PS3 seem worse than 2010.

Just loading it up now. Since I've been playing F1 CE lately maybe I won't notice the graphics. :dopey:

Still waiting on these stupid updates before the game will load... :banghead:

He may mean updates to the PS3 itself, not the game. And he did say "updates", not "patch".

Granted but he said he's been playing F1CE lately, so chances are his PS3 was online nonetheless.

We'll get to know sooner or later.

Sorry to say guys, graphics are indeed worse, and unless I can get this sorted out I have to say that the FFB is horrendous. There is this clip if you make a turn at a certain angle where the wheel weight just gives and it feels like you're in a front wheel slide, even if you aren't.

And yes, I did download a PS3 update, but I also downloaded the "latest software found for this game, version 1.1".

For those of you thinking your only options for joining a team are the same as in 2010 you're in for quite the surprise.

With regards to the Team VVV video that shows the car spinning out on 130R with traction control off, I'm pretty sure 130R was tightened a few years ago. It can't be taken flat out.

Just a warning everyone. Just picked up the game at Gamestop tonight. Upon turning on my PS3 a prompt for update 3.72 came up. (PS3 firmware) I loaded it. Now my Logitech G25 isn't recognized by the PS3. Anyone who has a G25 knows that as soon as you plug the G25 in it auto calibrates. After 3.72 nothing!👎
You've been warned. What a complete let down.

If it's happened to anyone else let me know.

Oh no. Seriously.

Every single racing game I own will be buggered then!

WTF.

Edit G27 working ok, hmm.

Did the poster with problems have his power supply in? G25/27 are basically the same thing.

There seems to be a work around. FYI with the new 3.72 update if your regular controller isn't turned on it asks you to do so.
The work around is hit the PS button on the controller, then turn it off again. Then connect your G25 and the PS3 recognizes it.
Before update 3.72 you could turn on your PS3 with the main button without having to turn on the standard controller. Why this changed is beyond me.

I got it working. Just very weird that I have to first turn on the standard controller then turn it off again for the wheel to be seen. Now let's see what this game does :)

There's a guy in Finland who has shown a video of a safety car glitch. If, in the result of an accident demanding a safety car, you are caught behind a car that is immobilised on the circuit but does not retire, you will not be able to pass the immobilised car and so will be stuck on the circuit.

However, the video is cut oddly - he deliberately causes an accident at Abu Dhabi and then does a lap with heavy damage. This is cut with footage of the car being unable to pass an immobilised Force India, which appears to be from a separate incident (because he gets through cleanly the first time). The Force India is oddly positioned, too; it's parked on the left of the circuit between the first two corners, looking back the wrong way (which is a very weird place to be). It's also at an angle, which make me suspect it's clipping; the rear right might be stuck in the inside wall. The car isn't damaged enough for the game to recognise that it has retired, but because of the clipping, the car can't actually move. Because that wall separates the circuit from the pit exit, I'd actually be very interested to see what happens if the player kept filming it since the wall ends, which would free up the Force India. But he cuts back to his full lap before this happens.

Monaco is crazy with KERS and DRS. :scared: Would not be surprised to see some really crazy times this year on the leader boards.

After playing for a few more hours, the graphics do look better on a monitor. The AI is beyond harder in this release too. I can't seem to qualify better than 24:/ I chose Virgin for my team. I know that you start with a lower power car and such, but I played 2010 recently to get ready for 2011 and in Melbourne I qualified 16th comfortably. So either my tunes are bad, my use of DRS is bad, or the AI/Mechanics are much more realistic and 16th isn't realistic.

Anyone else finding the same thing? AI is on legend.

Haven't tried it yet, but I think you may be able to use KERS in qualifying as well. If so, that could be your problem. Use both at the same time when you can.

It says that KERS and DRS can be used in qualifying but I try pressing the KERS button and nothing happens, so not sure on that issue.

I don't understand how the graphics and ffb could be worse than 2010. Are they really? Is everyone generally happy with F1 2011 so far? Getting my copy today.
