What. The. 🤬?

I sincerely believe the Nurb GP track is bugged. You absolutely cannot get on to Turn 15 without invalidating your lap for whatever reason.

With regards to the Team VVV video that shows the car spinning out on 130R with traction control off, I'm pretty sure 130R was tightened a few years ago. It can't be taken flat out.

Mr Vettel disagrees with you :P

On that Estonian guy, he is making people at the CM forums quite unhappy with his apparently deliberate attempts to break the safety car, naturally glitches will happen if you repeatedly force them. His Monaco SC video was the icing on the cake though. Claiming 3 huge issues which will make it unplayable and actually 2 things we knew about (auto brake for going to fast behind AI and being given full control at the SC line) and 1 thing which he caused by shoddy driving (being overtaken under SC conditions after hitting 2 walls, equivalent to going off track just at Monaco). It just seems unfortunatly that a troll got hold of a review copy. The key thing people are saying, is completely correct, play the game as it is meant to be played and it wont have any issues with the SC.
He also claims Codemasters have tried to silence him, again, rubbish due to the embargo being lifted and has no proof and CM have no reason.

[/RANT]

So far I find the driving good. Takes a little to get used to. I have a 46 XBR Sony TV and I thought 2010 looked amazing. 2011 looks bright that's for sure. Maybe too bright, but I know there were those who didn't care for the filter effect from last year. I liked it. Frame rate seems better, but to me they lowered the poly count to accomplish this. Either way...new...fun...challenging and thank goodness I took Tuesday off.
BTW: Whatever G25 setting you had in 2010 forget about them working in 2011. Totally different animal, but in a good way.

Yeah...scratch this. I was taking the old turn 14 and 15.

It says that KERS and DRS can be used in qualifying but I try pressing the KERS button and nothing happens, so not sure on that issue.

Don't think virgin has Kers.

Don't think virgin has Kers.

IRL Virgin, Team Lotus and HRT don't have KERS which is why they don't have it in the game.

IIRC Codemasters said that if they finish 8th or better in the constructors in career mode then they will get KERS.

Those are actual rules. The speed is limited under the safety car, and racing resumes from the control line. How else is Codemasters supposed to simpluate those rules?

Thats what I mean, those are things he is complaiing about in his Monaco video. Just baffles me really.

Anyways, I envy all you who get it first!

Damn you all for playing this before me, but mainly for talking about it and making me want to play it more (somehow!) :D

I should be getting mine on Thursday (website I use consistently delivers a day early) but won't be playing until Friday. I have the day off though :)

Can anyone using a DS3 give a brief handling update? I know the game feels more accomplished with a wheel, but I can't use one and therefore want to know how badly handicapped DS3 users are? Also, what are the buttons for KERS and DRS (default, I'm guessing and hoping they can be customised).

Totally agree. I have been very vocal in that thread in regard to his claims. At the end of the day, if you drive like a chump behind the safety car then expect the game to punish you for it.

Shopto by any chance?

If so they have just charged my card so will almost definitely have it early (again)!

Some cars dont have kers, in the game its the same, thats probably why.

it's the opposite, it's been straightened.

if Team VVV (dunno his name) has a more precise and gentle turn in, and some tuning work (he's quite ham fisted with the wheel usually) it is flat with some margin to spare.

And guys...where are you getting all these early copies?

I would like to see you race in a full wet monaco with a broken front wing...
Thanks to you guys Ive just seen his video and he is right about one thing if you cant overtake under yellow flags (let alone safety car) why the hell was he overtaken by the AI?

You are so quick to jump the gun and defend the game develpers...

Because you are allowed to "overtake" in Formula 1 under certain conditions when the yellow flags are out. If I'm following you behind the safety car and you spin out, I can keep driving on the circuit without penalty. If you start travelling along at 20km/h for no immediately-apparent, I can pass you, again without penalty. Basically, if one car is visibly travelling much more slowly than the cars immediately around it, it can be passed without a problem. After all, that car might have a mechanical problem that means it cannot travel any faster. And if one car is clearly slowing everyone down, what is everyone else supposed to do? Burble along at 20km/h until the driver of the slow car wakes up?

Having seen the video of the Estonian guy, it's pretty safe to say that he's just coasting along when the AI pass him.

Ok fair enough... he definitly was having some trouble in controling the car thats for sure... I would call it coasting along though... but he was also only passed by schumacker wich makes the game very realistic being him the only driver I know that did that IRL...

Im buying the PS3 version but Im getting concerned about the reports on huge frame rate drop in singapore... so if anyone here from America gets the PS3 version can you please check out singapore in race and report back?

All competing cars must reduce speed and form up in line behind the safety car no more than ten car
lengths apart. In order to ensure that drivers reduce speed sufficiently, from the time at which the “SAFETY
CAR DEPLOYED” message is shown on the timing monitors until the time that each car crosses the first
safety car line for the second time, drivers must stay above the minimum time set by the FIA ECU.
With the following exceptions, no car may overtake until it has passed the first safety car line for the first
time when the safety car is returning to the pits. However, if the safety car is still deployed at the beginning
of the last lap, or is deployed during the last lap, Article 40.13 will apply.
- If a car is signalled to do so from the safety car.
- Under 40.14 below.
- When entering the pits any car may pass another car remaining on the track, including the safety car,
after it has crossed the first safety car line.
- When leaving the pits any car, including the safety car, may overtake, or be overtaken by, another
car on the track before it crosses the second safety car line.
- When the safety car is returning to the pits it may be overtaken by cars on the track once it has
crossed the first safety car line.
- Any car stopping in its designated garage area whilst the safety car is using the pit lane (see 40.10
below) may be overtaken.
- If any car slows with an obvious problem.

You are allowed to overtake under the safety car. And does this guy with a broken front wing crashing three times into the barriers not constitute a 'car slowing with an obvious problem'? You are so quick to jump the gun and defend someone you have never met without checking your facts.

Here's a vid from VVV showing the corner in particular that clackers from the codies forums was talking about. 1:16 onwards in the top right.

Don't see any frame rate drops in it.

But thats in TT and he is the only car on track he reported the issue happened on race trim only...

I really hope is wrong but that was one of the tracks I had problems getting in to rithm and if it has FRS issues....

Yeah I know, I'm afraid it's a wait and see until more vids pop up.

So the official forums are down for maintenance.

Bad timing don't you think? Or maybe good timing, depending on point of view.

;^(

Its out in North America. đź‘Ť

In regards to the game, definite improvement over last year. The driving feels amazing, the timing gui is much better and expert mode is actually difficult.

I did notice the models were "possibly" lower poly count models (barely noticable at all) but the trade off is a more steady frame rate

I can check singapore rain in a race later today (I'm on ps3)

Please.... especialy the Sling corner... I will be very thankfull if you report back on that...

Ok so on this 130R spin with TC off in this video I posted yesterday.

JIC for reference once again as it was 2 pages ago now.

Clearly the actual "spin" had to do with the car pushing wide onto the curb and astro turf. However I think what the driver was getting it was that with TC on he took the same corner flat out, no problem (see the vid at 4:35). Then after only turning TC off he takes the same corner in the same manner and now all of a sudden the car drifts wide which leads to the spin.

So the question is, if TC in the game really is the culprit, why would the TC setting affect the car's aerodynamic grip in 7th gear and full throttle to such a significant extent?

Edit...

And here is a follow up vid demonstrating several attempts at 130R with TC off (see 4:42).

Does anyone else think it's unfair that North America seem to get everything 1st in terms of new games. Is F1's fan base not mostly in Europe ?......... WTF , We should get a game released 1st here in Europe for once or better idea just release it everywhere on the same day. Is there a good reasons why they do this ? have I missed something ? or are they just trying to piss people off who don't live in North America. :(
