TBH if the safety car is implemented all they had to do was put Pole AI as the role of SC and bingo, warm up lap.
Shouldn't have been that hard to introduce really.

Not really. You're forgetting that everyone would have to line up on the grid, wait for the grid to fill, then wait on the lights. That is significantly more than just making 1st place the safety car. Then there are other variables such as speed. For example, the cars will go faster down the straights on a warm up lap than they would under a safety car.

I just hope they integrated the safety car the right way. I don't want to have a safety car every 5-10 laps which obviously wouldn't be realistic. Just not wanting the safety car to be a gimmick. Would be nice if there was an option to turn on/off if you'd like.

I'm ready to try out the DRS and KERS. Its going to be very busy in the cockpit this year. Love that these two features are in the game. It's no longer just making laps. Really adds alot of strategy for every lap of the race.

Six more days.👍

Well last year I remebered being pretty busy changing the front wing angle twice a lap and engine mode few times over the race...

And the safety car is optional wich is great if not well implemented...

Its going to be difficult F12011, a lot more to do in the cockpit and improved AI is going to make for some mighty races and plenty of mistakes

Not long to go now though, can't wait :D

I never messed with my wing too much while in the car. Only if I had a small incident or something, then I'd add more downforce. Never did touch the engine while driving either. I don't know why, just never felt the need too.

That safety car news is good news. I like games with options. Might need it just in case. I think we'll be alright though.

I was just watching some of the videos and I love how the cars flex. They were so stiff in 2010. Looks very authentic with just enough body flex. AI is definitely looking good too. Man, this is going to be awesome. This thread will be buzzing by this time next week.

I'd have safety car over warm up lap any day. CM can replicate the warm up lap on the grid, but a safety car playing right into your strategy or erasing a nice lead you've built up is going to be good fun. And of course you will then need to keep tyres up to temperature for a number of laps.

They have to leave something for next year.
If they is s next year.

I saw an interview with the developer and he said that he expects to be on in 2012, but they will have to figure out something to keep it going after that.

PS Vita trailer, looks a bit crap TBH.

Codemasters gave it to another company to develope from what Ive heard...
In the meantime... Im still playing F1 CE... gave up on F1 2010 because of the handling and FFB... and found a few nice setups you made that help me tweek my own... :sly:

A shame for sure.

Rather them out lay the Vita version than try and do it all and screw everything up.

it is the same company. Same twitchy steering. Just HD graphics (not even close).

Shame really, if you look at what the Vita can do. Have a look at Wipeout 2048 or Uncharchted for Vita.

Probably i will buy Vita but not for F1, I've already have two ps3's. But Vita for Uncharted and Wipeout.

I noticed that on drivers list in F1 2011 there is no Kubica. Really like that idea 👍 Makes 2011 really realistic feature not just in simulation but also in what happen in outside world.

I believe the next development diary is due to be released in the next few hours.

Excellent, I read that its gonna be on the safety car. Hopefully it covers more than just that but it will be nice to see how much control you get behind it.

Here it is folks!

No, not really. Those kind of false improvements just spoils the fun you could have. Imagine yourself driving for 40 minutes, deserve to win and then suddenly someone crash and this stupid car goes in front of you, others close the gap and entire race starts from the start. They should focus only on driving model, add some new features like kers and moving wing. Security car is pointless.

But a real life occurance in real F1, and if the target of the developer is to "simulate" Formula 1, then the safety car is not pointless. The fact it can change races is exactly why its there in the first place.

There is an option to disable it V12.

Also you won't see it in under 20% races.

FANTASTIC !!! That is something i did not knew :) But in on-line races people would probably turn it on just to make game more realistic. That's why some of those races want to see game close to reality.

What is this should? They've been added & known about. :odd:

I don't care. All i want is to play on line with some clean racers who will not bash me out of the track. I'll hope F1 is much different than Shift 2 and GT5. This is what i expect from F1 2011.

Almost as good as this, warning, this video will make you REALLY want to play F1.

I only see text, do you have to log in to see the video or am I missing the link somewhere?

It seems that the hate for the safety car is a fear it may mean you can't win every race in a season at a canter, even if it is a more realistic experience... I can't wait, as they mention it may be a good chance to mix in a few outstanding results for the lesser teams with risky strategies!

Most of this is with the people playing it rather than the developers... I mean even if the system matches clean racers with clean racers, what is to stop me changing my mind after 1000 clean races and suddenly wiping out half the field? Don't for one second think I would, but no system in the world can be fool proof so you work around it. Find people online who are also after clean races, friend request them and then race them. I don't race online because its only ever people who quit if not winning at end of the first lap or will take you out to keep their position.

Don't hold your breath. All of the circuit-based racing in DIRT 3 tends to result in a first-corner pile-up as people decide to use the cars in front instead of the brake pedal to slow themselves down. All it takes is one person and your race is ruined.

Looks amazing of course, but guaranteed the game will not look that good unless played on a high-end PC. CM may say that they've taken those cut scenes from the xbox version (as they did before F1 2010) came out but I frankly don't believe them. We've seen the clips in the dev diaries and at all the build up at gamescom and so on, and that's what the game looks like.

Also what's with the ride heights of the cars? Why are they all so high, or should I say, why aren't any of them running any rake like IRL? It's almost more like 2005 with the very raised front wings. Great the way you can see the wings flexing though, it definitely looks like a big upgrade all round on F1 2010, which is all I really wanted.
