Every race this season has panned out the same in regard to Lotus. They start further back and make up so much ground but not to the leaders.

finally they start near the front. YOu expect them to use there tire advantage to get ahead etc. Yeah we dont know how it oculd have panned out but tha tdoes not change the fact that we saw the least amount of DRS passes for position than any other track except maybe Monaco so far. Not many positional passes at the front in general

Doesn't ability to pass affect the racing?

Unless it's wet... We didn't get to see any real DRS action either - something like a Ferrari or a McLaren on a Red Bull. They've got a 20mph straightline advantage in DRS over the RB8 - the RB8 with DRS is only just equal to those two without it!

It's an intensely strange sentiment though. The track is what they're driving on - it determines the setup, the gearing, the tyre wear... if it wasn't for the track, Hamilton wouldn't have been where he was, nor would Raikkonen have been where he was...

It never is though.

Another points finish for Senna, another penalty for Badgift. With all the talk around Valteri Bottas, it's not Senna that needs to be concerned about his place.

I find it odd how some people would've been here already posting a replay of Senna crashing (had he) just keep quiet when things don't go the way they want.

Probably just going through statistics and YouTube to find excuses for Pastor...

Raikkonen is always up there in the end though.. Look at all his races. Look at his fast laps. Always catching up the leaders in a hurry except for maybe 1 or 2 tracks. Hamilton would be the question mark. The Lotus has always had the impressive tire wear. Raikkonen did like 20-30 laps on those soft tires and was stilling posting fast lap at the end of the stint.

Too bad there was no safety car near the end. Vettel would have swept to the front

Great racing from Raikkonen, to get 2nd from 5th... His 2nd stint on softs was crazy fast.

If not for his faulty KERS unit, he may have easily had a better chance for that win...

Nevertheless, still a good result for Lotus (and great job from Hamilton to hold onto that lead)

Oh well there's still spa, Gooo Iceman :D

Monaco is yeah a better passing track. There are atleast 3 good spots. into the Hairpin, Nouvelle chicane, mirabeau, T1.

Hungary the track isnt even wide enough half the time . The guy in front can just sit in the middle of the track and be the ultimate blocker.

One of these days, Lotus will take a win.

The minute F1 ended and Nascar raceday came one. I just went

Didn't even show post-race interviews either. :grumpy:

Can't help thinking if the pitting on Grosjean had been as good a Kimi's...

Anyway. Hard earned and deserved win from Hamilton. Very well done. As Kimi.

Webber did well to, and Senna for once showing pace and brains.

Mercs and Schumi in particular very bad.

I'm sorry, I should have been more clear. Track characteristics of Hungary make it incredibly difficult to overtake on, which is probably the only thing that saved Hamilton from Raikkonen's late charge.

Unfortunately for Kimi, he seems to only manage these late charges at tracks that are already hard to pass on.(Barhain, Catalunya, Budapest)

Are teams allowed to work on pit stops in the of season? Because certain teams *cough* Lotus*cough* had terrible stops most of the race. Had GRosjeans stop been a 2.8 with hammys at over 4 seconds. He might have gotten the lead and never looked back!

What? Budapest is far, far wider than Monaco, and none of your 4 overtaking spots you list are anywhere near "good".

As far as I know, they're not allowed to work. They shut the "factory" down.

2 of the next 3 ( I think its 3?) week break the factories have to be shut down.

Late to reply as I went out after race ended...

Fantastic result for Hamilton and the Loti, so glad Hamilton won.

Does anyone know how many passes there were during today's race that weren't made in the pit stops. The race was the dullest of the season so far as far as I am concerned. The layout of the track doesn't give many opportunities to overtake.

I saw two real on track passes, Kobayashi on the HRT's. Other than the 1st lap, that is.

And Senna around the outside of Perez.

Although Hamilton dominated on Saturday and won today it looks as though the Lotus will be pretty much unbeatable in the next few races. They were clearly faster than Lewis today and they supposedly have a huge upgrade to come which will make them much faster on the straights.

The upgrade will only work with DRS, like the Mercedes one.

Lotus? They are prepping a major upgrade that will improve their performance at low downforce circuits. The F-Duct DRS is going to be included in that package. With their car already pretty good in the mid-high speed corners, they are looking very strong for Spa.

The next 2 races are at Spa and Monza so I expect them to be very competitive in qualifying and if the car works as good as it does now in the race then they should win at least 1 of those races.

If there is one thing I've learned from 4 seasons of watching F1 is, even if it's boiling track temperature on a sunny day, don't take anything for granted at Spa.

That being said I'd love a Lotus win at Spa.:embarrassed:

Another build up to very-little race at the Hungaro-tease. Not surprised.

Not the most exciting of GPs, but improved towards the end with a bit of suspense.

Hamilton - Great driving all weekend. Even with Kimi's charge, never really looked under too much danger from anyone

Kimi - GO ICEMAN! I get a real buzz from seeing Kimi race. He just has "it" still. Was actually willing him to win this race. He doesn't really have anything to prove as a champion, so I want to see him do well for his own sake.

Grosjean - Solid race all the way through. Lotus have really got a couple of top drivers at the moment.

Vettel - Another solid drive. Searing pace towards the end of the race, but fairly anonymous for the rest of it. He'll need a real step up to beat Alonso this year.

Alonso - Another solid drive. If he can keep doing this - minimising his bad races rather than really having awful runs - he's still a dead cert for this year.

Button - Hampered by strategy today. Could have been a podium, but bad team calls. Cracking pitstops again though.

Others

Maldonado - Drive-through is a mere slap on the wrist. Is it just me, or is he doing something either dangerous, stupid, or both at every GP at the moment? Once again, bumping di Resta off was a moment of pure brain-fade.

Kobayashi - Appeared to have good pace. Another driver I enjoy watching, as he seems to be one of the more accomplished passers, provided he finishes races.

Schumacher - Bad luck strikes again. When he actually competes in a race his talent is still undeniable - but he's being given the opportunity to genuinely compete far too infrequently.

I think, if everything goes to plan, this one is Hamiltons. I really want the Loti to round off the podium, or maybe JB up there too, just as long as Alonso is having a bad race. Unfortunatly, he's good at damage limitation. :grumpy:

I am happy tonight. :)

Just gonna leave these numbers here.

#18 -> 0 - 0 - 4 - 0 -25- 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 = 29
#19 -> 0 - 8 - 6 - 0 - 0 - 1 - 0 - 1 - 2 - 0 - 6 = 24
