Formula 1 Gran Premio de España Santander 2012

Shows how prepared the teams are for something like this though when you see the teams fighting the flames.

Just hoping that it wasn't an attack on them.

Hope the video finds its way online. How bad was it really?

Massive fire at the back of the williams garage. Every mechanic from all the teams came running down with extinguishers, it looks absolute carnage. You cant see anything, The garage looks ruined.

Well, the KERS package is just underneath the fuel tank. KERS may have shorted causing sparks which in turn may have lit the fuel. Reports believe it was Senna's car since Maldonado's was in Parc Ferme.

So it would seem it was a Fuel fire. And you couldn't see flames from outside the garage as the smoke was too thick too see through

Bruno will need a new car for next week though.

BBC have ended there coverage. Maybe early but I think it was a scheduled end.

Picture a massive fire that took hold in a f1 garage, that is what happened. It has been put out now, but the garage is blackened, with everyone covered in extinguisher powder, smoke and water.
Carnage.

Confirmed that it is Senna's car but no confirmation of casulties.

Again unfortunately injuries confirmed, let's just hope it's only injuries and no more then that.

Shame for this to put a dark cloud over Maldonado's day.

BBC said injuries have been reported or words to that extent, whether that's true or not I don't know.

Just look on twitter for pictures, lots of smoke.

Yikes, here's a picture of the fire:

That's from the front.

Same effect from the back so the seriousness of this is much more then I initially thought.

Will be expensive for Williams. Hopefully all injuries are minor.

Also the amount of fuel in the garages mean this could be more catastrophic then it already is. Hopefully they can keep in isolated.

The fire services took their time.

Agreed, if it wasn't for all the teams helping to put it out it would have been much worse. Praise has to go to the amount of training and preparation the teams go through to prepare for these situations.

Does anyone know how many injuries there are? That looks horrendous. And as Matty said, with all of the fuel in the garages, this could be one of the worst pit disasters in F1.

I feel sorry for Williams. Hopefully they can get everything back on before Monaco and by the looks of it, the equipments may have all damaged from the fire. Now they've just lost Senna's car completely. Hoping for no casualty.

Jesus. That looks really bad. Hope everyone's okay. A real shame for Williams, after such a great day.

Couple of pictures off Heikki's and Natalie Pinkham's twitter. Can't see much but there's a hell of a lot of smoke.

Sky have said one Force India mechanic, with smoke inhalation, he is being checked in the in course clinic but nothing serious.

If it wasn't for all the mechanics steaming down the pit lane with extinguishers, it would have been worse.

Reports when I last heard said few. Including as Tom said a Force India member and a few Williams I believe.

Hopefully it's all under control.
