But how would they work out how to use the wheel gun?
To me, to you, to me, to you... It would be mayhem!

Names and dates would be nice to back up your statement. Can't believe it, so many times I've seen other driver's blatantly pull over to avoid running out of fuel but I have never seen them penalised.

That's after the race though. We're talking about qualifying here.I remember at the nurburgring last year, I think it was Webber who gave Alonso a ride back to the pits. That's just off the top of my head but I know there's been more, my dad was watching with me and at the time he said in the last race Vettel and Button ran out of fuel before they got to the pits or at least pulled over to prevent running out of fuel.
It is not acceptable for drivers to stop early simply to save petrol for the sample - because that would give them a competitive advantage as they could run with less fuel, and therefore less weight, during their qualifying lap.
Following a directive issued at the 2010 Canadian Grand Prix, after Lewis Hamilton and McLaren were given a reprimand and a $10,000 fine for stopping deliberately on a slowing down lap after qualifying to save fuel, the FIA has made it clear that only genuine technical problems would be acceptable.

They had over 1 liter of fuel to test with how in the world is that not enough?
Does this mean Hamilton gets penalised?
XRFalconI wrote this back on page 7 before there was any hint that Hamilton could get excluded and nobody paid much attention to it. I don't want to sound like a smart alek but...![]()
I know how you feel I guessed that Maldonado would get pole before Q3 and I can't help but be a bit smug cos of this
Starting from 1st =/= Getting pole.
Hamilton got pole. Maldonado starts 1st because of a subsequant penalty for Hamilton.
Alonso is a brave man lining up alongside Ginsters Maldonado going into turn one...
Hamilton originally qualified on pole, but was excluded for failing to return to the pits under his own power and supply a fuel sample.
Pagey279Well thats a tad unfortunate for Hamilton.............PAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA YES!!!!!!![]()
According to the link below he had a sufficient amount of fuel to be sampled but was penalised because the car didn't return to the pits under its own power.

No. Hamilton is completely excluded from qualifying, so Maldonado got pole.

He had sufficient amount of fuel to be sampled because he stopped on the track. If he returned to the pits under his own power, he would have less than one liter to sample.
Yes I understand that but they are penalising because he didn't make it to the pits which I thought was fine.
