Huge congrats on Alonso's 400th. Massive achievement. Damn shame his race ended so early.

Solid race for Sainz. I thought Ferrari were on for another 1-2. Good job moving into 2nd in the WCC.

Good to see Lando make some gains in the WDC. Nice recovery from Piastri.

Nice scrap between Lewis and George.

Great results for Haas!

Glad to see Max facing some consequences.

Sometimes Sainz shows that he can be in the elite club too, this was one of those weekends. A team like Williams is lucky to have this guy next year.

Lewis watching how well Ferrari is doing at the end of the season.

Cooldown room could do with some soundproofing 😅

Edit: Colapinto received a 10 sec penalty for the collision with Lawson

Lewis taking over 10 laps to pass George with a damaged front wing tells me that the big upgrade package from Mercedes is probably not up to snuff since it looks like the old spec is faster. Not taking anything away from Russell because he defended well too but he definitely had much better pace without that front wing damage.

On another note, well done Carlos! That was a commending victory.

I think even without the penalties, Max would have probably still finished 6th looking at his pace. I recon both Mercs would have overtaken him.

Edit: Just wanted to add, Carlos really is an underrated driver. I feel like if he has more support from Ferrari, he probably would have achieved a lot more. I find him way more consistent than Charles and I'm betting he will be wiping the floor with Albon at Williams.

Max had it coming.

Max in an interview just now:

Interviewer: "Would you do anything different next time?"
Max: "Get a drink in the pits. Enough time with the penalty"

He doesn't even care

It seems that the stewards (this week not including Derek Warwick, unlike last week) have recalled "Document 44 - Infringement - Car 1 - Turn 8 Leaving the track and gaining an advantage" on the basis that "Further details to be included in Decision. Replacement document to follow."

It's such a shame this matters

Document 43 (the turn 4 incident) was also recalled and replaced.
The replacement includes penalty points which the original didn't.

Turns out they added two penalty points too, and weirdly removed a reference to "CCTV"...
Didn't Alonso get 3 points at the start of the season (Bahrain I believe) for a much milder "forcing another driver off track"? It's weird then how this is only 2

Looking at the replays, Max earnt those penalties. Not even Horner with a bookful of data can go against that, the man grows more insufferable by the day.
Waiting for Christian to put Ricciardo in a 3 year old Red Bull at Brands Hatch to show how Lando wasn't going to make the corner....

I think there was also a mention that Max probably would have won the race if he didn't take the position and hold him up in the early stages. Unrepentant and indifferent - such a lack of any character of sportsmanship.

He probably would have been 5th without the penalty, I think he would have held off one of the mercs - so he ended up 2 points worse to take 7 points off Lando - so it's net outcome is removing a 5 point swing in points to Lando. The USA race he gained 3pts and cost Lando 3pts so removed a 6 point swing toward Lando.

So despite all the drama and some penalties for the last two races the championship gap is at least 11 points better in his favour than it likely could have been.

But the Stewards can tick of 'placate' the britcentric press with some solid Max penalties (even though it ended up not actually being much of a penalty in the end)... we can return to usual service and there will be not further penalty against golden champion Max and thus all the whingers with "wrong expectations" of the sport can suffer in their jocks.

I don't think RB have any confidence in Yuki or see him as a potential replacement for Checo. At least that's the vibe I'm getting.

If I had to guess I'd say Liam replaces Checo for the rest of the season and Hadjar joins Yuki.

After watching the highlights it genuinely beggars belief why Max feels the need to throw in kamikaze moves like that, the 2nd violation being akin to the one at Sao Paulo vs Lewis. Never in a month of Mondays would you be able to pull that move off, hell if he was running a simulation of that in iRacing I doubt he would even consider it 99 times out of 100. More so if there were barriers close to the track limits e.g. Abu Dhabi S3.

"I was feeling compelled to do that because the pace wasn't there" doesn't fly, at that point it's just dangerous driving. If he's going to continue go for moves even Yuji Ide would've blanched at, the powers that be should should take heed and slap him with a race ban because at this point time penalties and/or grid penalties aren't getting through. Hell, one could argue it should've happened already.

If, instead of taking such a lesson onboard it hastens him to the exit door, well, good riddance.
