Gran Turismo 5 playable at "Festival du Jeu video" next friday

Yeah that can be true... the graphics are blowing me off everytime i see GT5(p) đź‘Ť
Blowing you away. Blowing you off indicates the graphics have little concern for your wants and needs.

"My wife asked me to buy some milk on my way home from work, but I blew her off." :)

Put the same damage model on ALL cars, model the interior of ALL cars, and people will stop whining. You need to listen to what people are whining about, and it's not really the quality of the damage model itself

I couldn't disagree more. Firstly: People will never stop whining :sly: and secondly, many are complaining about the model itself - including me.

My complaint is that the damage looks extremely scripted. In every video, roughly the same thing happens to the Subaru. Bumpers hang loose, doors come open, and then off. A door coming off should be a 1 in a 100 occurrence, caused by a freakishly severe and awkward crash. It should be "omfg the door came off!!>", rather than, "yeah yeah, of course I've lost both my doors, I had a bad lap". The damage is looking (extremely) repetitive after about a dozen plays.

However, the collision physics are improved, which, to me, is more important for the game. I'm waiting to see what visual damage we have in the real game, but no matter what it's like, I'll accept it for what it is and enjoy the rest of the experience.

Well... I wouldn't go that far, but it is something to behold. GRID does have a very nice damage build, and more of the trackside reacts to collisions, plus the car damage is remarkable.
The person you quoted explicitly mentioned he did not mean games like Burnout or GRID.
After all, GRID is not a sim, far from it.

Apparently, "blowing someone off" has a different meaning to all of you unamerican people. :P

As I said, when we say we blew someone off, it means we ignored their request. It's not like jerking them off. Actually, now that I think about it, if someone blows you off, you might say that they're jerking you around. Figure that one out! :D

I'm aware of that now, and I think I posted that when I was beginning to nod off. I was actually thinking kind of backwards, or sideways or something :P , that he was thinking of console sims rather than sims period. He's actually right, that I'm unaware of any racing sim that has this level of graphic damage.

As for looking scripted, the only games which look scripted the least are Codemaster games, and they fudge other areas in order to produce exceptional damage dynamics. Forza, the other king of damage around here, looks just as scripted, plus sometimes it looks downright ugly and unreal.

Unreal, like scratcing the paint off the TVR Tuscan to reveal bare sheet metal underneath. They didn't really do much research on that one.

But its still a negative, blowing you away is positive, ahaha.

Damage is nice looking, still waiting to see final build, but seems like after that first corner head on, even the physics damage would have made the car undriveable, but i think with "full" damage, we might start to see how fragile these cars actually are!

'Full' damage?

Has an option to choose the level of damage been confirmed, or is this just wishful thinking on your behalf?

That head-on collision was horrible. There would have been a net speed of about 400km/h in that collision, yet the hood doesn't even pop up and there is no crumpling at all.

I'm just hoping that there has been significant improvements on this apparently 'old' build.

Its the Gamescon Build, what did you expect? Besides, its TGS where we are looking for all the improvements.

After 4+ years I expected more at GC, but I suppose after 4+ years of development, the 2 months between GC and TGS will be where they make add in the other 70% of the damage modeling :sly:

And before anyone says GC was an old build, does anyone actually know that, or is it just a convenient and painless way to explain away an unpleasantry?

I think the old build story is a hope because the damage at GC was not so great.
But, let's be realistic, it was a recent build.

I know you hate to hear this, Deve, but most of us don't care. If that's all we get, maybe you could round up all 8 or 10 of your friends, raise some salad forks and light some candles in outrage. ;)

I shot two replays from the Paris Game Show.

HKS CT230R : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMf7VSCjn34
Nissan 370Z : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52hfqZLHB9c

lol, it says "Quitter". I hope you're not one :sly: Great videos:tup:

370 Z? I see a Subaru!

Did you even bother looking at the rest of the video? Its there.

Edit: Just noticed two things after watching it four times:

There are no spectators, apparently they are not impressed

At about 1:49, you can see the driver's hand on the Shifter

I think the demo showed at Cologne was an european version. It's exaclty the same but translated in french. There were five ps3 displaying GT5 and I even seen that one of them (at least) was in english.
