I am gonna pre order my copy of GT5 in GAME, as I do not want to have to wait any longer for GT5 once it has been released as I am certain that they will fly off the shelves!!

I'm surprised at some of the hate that Play is getting...I've ordered about 50 odd items from them and never ever once had a problem, be they large or small items.

They're the most reliable online retailer I know.

Haha, I can't believe how the gaming culture must be on the continent. Well, I live in a quite small town (around 100K people), but still. I went to a game store on the day GT4 was released, and guess what, I was alone in the store. I really think I'm the only GT fan in this town, or even this province!

A trusted friend who has a contact in the portuguese branch of Sony, asked today about GT5 release date and got the following information:

Apparently they have had several release dates: Sep 2009, then Dec 2009, then back to Nov 2009 and recently changed to Mar 2010 :nervous: .This last date came shortly after the announcement of PSP Go and GT PSP. Speculation in the office was so that it would not clash with the Oct launch of PSP Go and GT PSP

I know it's just hearsay but anyway wanted to share it with you guys

Personally I am in the camp that says Sony and PD themselves do not know when to release GT5. We know they can release it whenever they want but Sony has to be smart about when in order to get maximum sales.

Releasing this fall may hurt GTPSP sales. It may also hurt sales of other major PS3 titles such as Uncharted 2 and MAG and have to compete with major titles like Modern Warfare 2, Bioshock 2 and Assassins Creed 2. About the only thing it would do is take Forza 3's thunder. To me this is risky. Buyers wallets are going to be stretched this fall/holiday season and releasing GT5 may not be the best idea. Then there is the winter time frame. There are less titles coming out in December on onward but a lot of people will be buying the titles that came out before(fall). Overall this is a decent time to launch GT5. Then there is spring 2010. But Spring is also loaded with tons of titles such as Heavy Rain and the big elephant in the room GOWIII as well as other titles from third parties.

But then again all of this changes when Sony plans to do a price drop (or PS3slim with a lower price). If Sony plans to do a price drop around November then that could create a lot of buzz and move some of the attention away from the other platforms titles. They could use GT5 to further sell the price drop. But to be honest I think a December price drop with GT5 is the best plan. The most anticipated PS game + a price drop will speak very well to buyers. But... Sony may not be ready for a price drop thus making the release of GT5 up in the air (most likely scenario). If they release GT5 with a price drop when the PS3 turns a net loss then they will loose a ton of money from the increased PS3 sales. They may have to decide whether they wait until they can do a price drop or take advantage of the "holidays" to get the most sales out of GT5. Its a tough call.

GT5 is not just a game it is THE Sony franchise. It is one of those series that has the MGS, Halo, SSB effect. It moves boat loads of systems. This is really important to Sony in a time when they are not moving as many system as they would like.

I hope that isnt interily true... at least the march 2010 part :nervous:!

EDIT: My GT5 is reserved since november or december of 2008... not sure what for... im tired of all this circus around the realese date! PD should have more respect for the fans, instead of throwing dozens os realease dates...

PD didnt do anything. Yamauchi just laughed when he was asked about a 2010 release. Anyway that was in october/november, maybe things have changed.

This is not official but the biggest chain of (gaming) stores, game mania, has set the release date for GT5 at Q4 2009. This date timeframe can and will probably change but it's looking good so far.

If GT5 doesn't come out this year it's obvious that they (PD) have underestimated the competition and are having to go back and try harder.

But I don't think this is the case and it will come out in q4 of this year - I can't also see the problem with it being released around the same time as the PSP versions as I can't see them having a negative effect on each others sales figures.

I mean if you are into cars and love GT5 you will have the game what ever console you have.

To me PSP's are for people who need something to play with whilst outside sitting at the bus stop or on the bus so that you don't have to talk/acknowledge the tramp who's just happened to sit down next to you.

People who have to use public transport or Children use PSP's other wise when you are at home everyone would rather have a PS3 to play on.*

* or because they can't stretch financially to a PS3 - but then again if they wanted a bigger experience as in screen size they could buy a 360 for the same kid of cash.

Lets look forward to the preview in the next OPM so then we will have a better idea. I personally would be horrified to hear the game was not coming out until march 2010 - Oh how the Forza fans will mock - and lets be honest rightfully so.

Fingers crossed.
x

OPM is more likely to include a rough timeframe for release, like Q1,2 etc, rather than an actual release date.

Q4 is still the most likely.

Well, if this guy is right, PD can say good bye. Both Turn 10 and the Forza fans are litterly gonna freak our brains out with their: "Hahahahahaha, GT is never coming out! Forza is the definitive, GT5 sucks, GT5 doesn't exist, PD and KY can start to cry along with you GT fans! Hahahahaha, this is too good to be true! I'm so proud to be a Forza fanboy! Hahahaha".

And you know what? I'll laugh at PD and KY too...

he claims to know alot about sony's stuff. but another guy (on my pps3 friends list) said late 2010. He was right about many other things.
Hmm, well I'm sceptical. For a start Polyphony are very secretive about this sort of thing. I mean when was the last time you ever heard of news leaked from them? And secondly, it would be completely unreasonable for them to release late 2010. They need to be out to compete with Games like Forza and to increase sales of the PS3. And thirdly, with Polyphony/Sony saying things like 'we can release at any time', and that they're just 'polishing' the game, I find it hard to believe in a late 2010 release.

What is it with Forza fans and claiming that GT fans are apparently always 'crying' over the game? it makes no sense?!?

sony has actually found a way to **** this one up too. sony needs to know the term GOOD ENOUGH. DLC is an option any ways.

the same reason sony let gta, mgs, tekken. final fantasy and any decent 3rd party game go, they will have no problem moving aside and allowing M$ take the tittle as THE REAL DRIVING SIMULATOR, or should i say the ONLY DRIVING SIMULATOR

Hang on... This isn't even close to solid proof. It's just some guy on twitter who is most likely speculating. If not, things could easily have got lost in translation.

I'm pretty sure Sony aren't that dumb! :embarrassed: I hope not anyway...

I dont see MGS4 on 360, not to mention that MGS2 Substance and all other GTAs were multiplatform too.

EDIT:
Random Twitter Guy
GT5 on PS3 will get a launch date soon, but don't be happy: it's for the end of 2010.
The end of 2010 after PD told everyone they could release the game anytime just waiting for the right moment?

I'm losing my respect for Yamauchi. He is a jerk, really.

Isn't he aware of the excitement he is caused by saying "We can release it at any time"!? Srew him. Of course, he doesn't care the least about us, with all the sports cars he has got, trackdays and what not!

2010 in my ***! I rather get a crapbox with the less impressive Forza 3. At least you don't have to wait 'til your grand children grow old for Turn 10's releases...

EDIT: Oh, I think it might be time to change my avatar as well.

i don't think its Yamauchi job to releaase the game its the brains @ sony's job.

the next major mgs is going to be on 360.

he also said alot of things that aren't right, also he said that months ago, sony probably changed their minds. im starting to think the guy in charge of ps3 are 360 fanboys, i mean a company can't be that dumb can they?

A jerk huh? he brought us GT1/2/3 and 4 (which surely you enjoyed, otherwise you wouldn't be here) and is trying his very best to bring us GT5 as quickly as possible. Sometimes things happen which are beyond peoples control, and I highly doubt Kaz would lie just to keep fans hopes up.

Secondly, you're acting as if GT5 has DEFINITELY been posponed until late 2010, when all we have in the way of evidence is some lonely bloke on Twitter.
