Gran Turismo 6 coming to PS3

Quote~
Speaking at today’s Gran Turismo 15th Anniversary event at Silverstone racetrack in England, Yamauchi told IGN, “We actually do have a PlayStation 4 version in mind, but for this holiday season, we thought it would be best for users to release on PS3 for now.”

Players eager to race around the world’s most iconic stadiums in all their next generation glory may want to put their brakes on though. Yamauchi adds, “I thought the best scenario would be to have the game come out, then to have new scenarios, new DLC and other updates. Once the players have thoroughly played out the system, if the PlayStation 4 version came out naturally, as part of that process, I think that would be the best scenario.”

I'm not seeing your "It's safe to say" reasoning. All I'm getting is the usual ambiguity.
Translated, we need to earn some money first then we relase it on the ps4 and earn some more. Why not if it works.

Well there's that to it I suppose.

I'm a bit narked that their talking about ports for a console not yet released. Crikey.

Well they may call it GT7 but the engine will be same as it seems. If they have calculations right on physics then they can just add more content, Graphics, weather, sound, and so on (+ cars, tracks). This is enough and with the better connectivity and starting speed of the ps4 it just makes it more fun to play. But i see the Point in a ps3 release too but i dont see it hinder a ps4 version either rather the opposite.

I'm not saying anything about the PS3 release hindering the PS4 release. All I'm saying is that if there is to be a GT on the PS4 in late 2014 or later, it better be GT7 not GT6. In other words, different physics, different menu layout, different A.I., more features, different A-Spec career, and whatever else that would justify it into calling it GT7 rather than GT6.

For it to be GT6, it would have to have the same content and feel as the PS3 version, only better in visuals, except I don't want to have to go through the same thing by then. By that time, I'd be playing GT6 on the PS3 to death, so I don't need or want to see a simple PS4 version of it by late 2014 or later.

Thanks. It was interesting to watch.

Definitley some cool new features to come. I`m excited by the customzation and driving physics.
I just hope that they also have been focused on make GTmode/A-spec much better than it was in GT5.
The standard/premium dosen`t bother me that much, though I would not mind that all of them was premium.

I`m looking forward to GT6

This is likely to be the first GT title I won't get, simply because it will be a PS3 title. I don't see the point in buying a game that will be old just a couple of months after it's released.

Kinda like GTA5 and The Last Of Us and Beyond: Two Souls?

Seriously, stop with this foolishness.

The only difference between those 3 titles and GT6 is that GT6 got announced after the PS4 got announced. Had GT6 been announced last year, these "Why is it on PS3?!" crap would've not even popped up.

That just makes no sense to me. You could miss out on Battlefield 4, Gran Theft Auto 5 and Gran Turismo 6 to name a few. I can't see these games suddenly becoming old with poor gameplay just because its on a PS3. However, your choice and in my opinion, your loss.

Even though GT6 could move PS4 sales up, it's not like they can't wait it out to move systems later, i.e. a bundle with a new price drop. Seeing as Drive Club is launching, Sony will probably have PD wait so that they can get this new IP out. Basically saying you guys keep the current PS3 fans satisfied and we'll let Drive Club test out the new platform. Surely not doing a PS3 version would be shooting themselves in the foot. 0 PS4s sold (I know it isn't out yet), 70 million PS3s, do the math. This is why the new Call of Duty, Battlefield, and other AAA titles are still going to give a decent port to current gen consoles because they are money givers. Now, this strategy is just business, of course it's all about money, you develop a game for 2+ years you expect something in return! From what PD listed they have been working insanely hard the past 2 and a half years since GT5 launched. Nothing wrong with the PS3 version, in my opinion GT5 looks astounding as racing games always look better. Back to my original point, looking at the Wii U sales as the previous Wii led this gen, people aren't going to jump right away. Selling GT6 for PS4 a year down the road could still push out consoles. You could think of it as an HD remake with extra features, and the PS4 version with just native 1080p could probably push 64 cars on screen at once (or more!), and more features. I'd buy it again for that, just not another $60, probably $30 giving me all the DLC I purchased.

Ok, since the real image is on an imageboard i pulled up the car elsewhere.

The guy who called that car ugly must have been crazy.

But now they have done it so. What im afraid of is that all the talk today abut features are just words for the ps3. As soon as the PS4 hits the street they will need to announce a ps4 version sooner than later.

It won't be any older than any other game that's a few months old ;).

Let's see, I'm going to break down my reactions to the presentation:

Acura NSX ’91, *Alfa Romeo TZ3 Stradale ’11, *Alpine A110 1600S ’68, *Audi Sport quattro S1 Rally Car ’86, Ferrari 458 Italia ’09, *Ferrari Dino 246 GT ’71, Ford GT ’06, *KTM X-BOW R ’12, Lamborghini Countach LP400 ’74, *Light Car Company Rocket ’07, McLaren MP4-12C ’10, *Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 ’11, Nissan 370Z (Z34) (GT Academy Version) ’08, Nissan 370Z Tuned Car (GT Academy , Version) ’08, Nissan GT-R Black edition (GT Academy Version) ’12, *Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 N24 Schulze Motorsport, Nissan Leaf G (GT Academy Version), *Tesla Motors Model S Signature Performance ’12, Toyota 86 GT ‘12

The KTM, Rocket, and Tesla interest me; the others, besides the Schulze GT-R, I already have access to in other games 👍

Summary of new Gran Turismo 6 features announced by Kazunori Yamauchi:

New Game Engine

Call me skeptical about what defines "new"; it hasn't been very long. I'm fine with heavily massaged, though!

Refactoring
Compact, nimble operation
Flexible expandability
A new rendering engine that pushes the limits of the PS3
New Physics Engine

Well, they wouldn't tell us it doesn't push the limits. A new physics engine has me curious...

New suspension and kinematics model
New tyre model
New aerodynamics model
Technical partnership with Yokohama Rubber and KW Automotive
1,200 Cars, abundant custom parts, and on-going DLC

This is where it can make great strides, or disappoint. A new suspension model and (especially) kinematics model is important, but even more so than that: finally, the potential for a real tire model! I trust Yokohama to guide PD in the right direction.

1,200 cars has me very curious how many new-to-the-series cars we'll actually see. We've already seen 9 just today. It also begs the question; how many are Premiums? I assume not all of them; you know PD would be (rightly) crowing from the rooftops if that were the case.

From historic cars to the latest racing cars, the game contains a total of 1200 cars.

Up not even 100 from the current game... :nervous:

Multiple aerodynamic parts and custom wheels will be available for almost all cars.

Technically, you could say that of GT5 already :P

Players can create their own personalised custom car in the game.

This vague sentence could cause as much consternation as GT5's "interior view" wording about Standards. Remember how long some people argued it meant we'd get a cockpit view? This could mean a livery editor... it could also, technically, mean the exact same level of customization we currently have.

Cars will be continually added online

One wonders for how long, or how frequently. But kudos for PD realizing a strong DLC approach is a good thing.

33 locations, 71 layouts

33 Locations and 71 layouts will be provided from day1 (7 more locations and 19 more layouts than GT5).

So, Willow Springs, Silverstone, and we can assume Mount Panorama, no? What does that leave us...?
More new tracks will continue to be provided online

Potentially awesome 👍
New Course Maker

Massive scenery spanning several tens of square kilometers
A new course generation algorithm

If it's more realistic; noice!
Community/Club/Race Organizer

Players can form their own communities
Various community levels from local and domestic to global
Players themselves can create and manage their own online events

Technically, we could do that last one already. I'm very curious about the integration of these features; it'll put an end to the unfortunateness of some people having to change their username every time they join a new group!

New User Interface

Balancing directional key operation and touch operation
Quick response
Shortening of loading times

That last bullet point should be the first, in importance. So long as the menus are speedy, I'm happy. GT5 has some of the worst menus I've had to deal with in games period, nevermind the franchise.
Multi Device Compatibility

Playstation
Smart Phone
Tablet
PC

Curiouser and curiouser...

Really excited after coming home and seeing the plethora of GT info all over. I have to admit, it certainly looks like GT5.5 in some respects, but what I am expecting is polish and consistency. If PD can pull that off, meaning no more PS2-esque standards with sketched doors and blacked out interiors , jaggies, graphical glitches/bugs, etc., it will be indeed worthy of the title GT6.

A few more cars and tracks don't bother me that much either. I'm extremely happy the Model S, the Quattro S1, and the Countach (looks very well modeled) are there, and the addition of Silverstone, Bathurst, good ol' classic GT tracks, and potentially Pikes Peak (:D) is more than enough for me. If the sounds are at least decent (replicate the S1's signature sound, please Polyphony!) and the cars behave like they should, this should be the best GT yet.

If PD can push the PS3 even more but with consistency and improvements in cars, graphics, sound, and content...we are in for a treat.

Roll on E3 and again, cheers to 15 years of The Real Driving Simulator

What? Just because PS4 is coming out doesn't mean PS3 games will cease to exist. God Of War 2 on PS2 came out after the PS3 got released. So did Persona 3. Those 2 came out for the PS2 the same year Uncharted 1 came out for PS3.

Nice to see that more tracks are coming with new cars.
Bit of a let down that it "will be released in Holiday, 2013" though.
I am interpreting Jordan's comment as end-of-the-year Xmas and New Years.
I am assuming that means no forthcoming track or cars DLC for GT5.

Did anyone else notice when they said GT6 will be on PS3, the room was silent during allotted pause for applause? I think that is confirmation for Kaz push for a dual release or release GT6vPS4 in Q1 2014. In contrast, when GT6 was announced just prior, the room erupted. I have no problem buying GT6v3 in November and then buy my PS4 (with GT6v4) in Feb, as planned, when we get our tax refund.

He is, all I see is beauty

Assuming it's in, I can imagine that it would be faster than the XJR-9.

Also, does anyone remember when Sorg found the Premium codes??? for the R92 and Bentley Speed 8?

Maybe PD saved them for GT6.
Won't mind having more Group C cars.

It all looks good, it seems like a near across-the-board improvement, but until the full version is released(I don't trust demos) I will reserve judgement.

I will say this, if they did clean up the GUI and cut loading times, I can probably deal with anything else.

Even though GT6 is on the PS3, i will still probably buy it to play online with my friends. Would have rather had it on the PS4, but will still buy what ever version of Gran Turismo that shows up on the PS4.

Since GT6 is going to have realistic physics, time for some torque steer. :D

Can't wait to make a car club with friends in it. 👍

Can't wait to spend 20 minutes in dat big wheel collection. I liked the word "unlimited"... I feel like GT4 wheel shop will be back. I love that.

A lovely video with pictures from GT6

Awesome video

Seeing some of those screesn it seems that Autumn ring has been improved and Silverstone have Day to night transition and Weather (some pics has different illumination and cars' beams are ON, also you can see some of the silverstone pics have clouds an others not) mmm

EDIT: Also Autumn Ring seems to have different light conditions in every screenshot
