Gran Turismo 6 coming to PS3

I hope there will be leaves and debris on the racing surface, not just the borders like in the pics. I do like that you can see grass blades along both walls so it doesn't feel so sterile. Changes look good so far.

But like others have mentioned, I'd wait until maybe August or something to pre-order. They'll probably have a similar pre-order bonanza like in GT5 where Gamestop, Amazon, Bestbuy, Wal-Mart, etc. will all have different pre-order bonuses

This is not a good thing for "us", it is for them though.

Amazon is fantastic, been a Prime member since '08. Have a nice library of free instant streaming on various devices is a nice perk. Being able to cancel a preorder whenever you like because they don't bill you until they ship, is a nice bonus.

Having region specific AND store specific elusive (exclusive) DLC will do nothing more than PISS PEOPLE OFF!!!! Having a trinket is cool, but not being able to get a car and enjoy the FULL game? Seriously, gamers "like" this? The game publishers seem to think so.

Leaves on the track eh? I can already see people using X2011/12's as leaf blowers before the race starts in online lobbies.

Let's say PD has modeled over 100 premiums (which is really stretching it), taking out the standards altogether would give 400-500 cars? Which is of course plenty enough. Then again why not have those 400-500 cars, PLUS 800 more for those that want to drive them. Similarly GT5 would only have 200 cars. Standards are easily something they can just leave out, but if it adds hundred more for me to drive I don't see why not. If you're really bothered by the standards, just pretend they don't exist, and enjoy those 400-500 premiums. And we're talking about GT6 here, not GT5 so don't bring up trucks.

And this is to say we don't exactly know how those standards from GT5 translate to GT6, so let's not assume incompatibility with cockpit or photo mode yet, even if they're likely true. That's beside my point anyway.
Nicely said. I'm also glad there are a few who are taking a step back to see the positivies. I know that I am easily pleased, but really, reading all of the earlier negativity around here made me wonder what the hell a lot of the complainers were expecting?

Seriously, we will be getting a lot more than I expected.

I went on Autumn Ring to compare the visuals/quality.

Looks like Autumn Ring is boasting day/night. I think they will push for more day/night and weather. You can also tell the higher HDR is really boasting better visuals overall but I know day/night does too.
Likewise, a comparison we can see rather than relying on our highly subjective memories...

Thank you aronh 👍

I meant more outside the racing groove but still on the track. It would be nice to see rubber bead build up as races go on.

Hey man, I'm quite hard to impress. I've been very disappointed at gaming lately. But that said, I'm impressed by what's been said by PD about GT6. A company that is taking their game and revamping most areas instead of only adding new tracks and cars. I always remember that just 10 years ago I was playing games that are nothing compared to these. Helps me appreciate what I have my hands on today.

This has probably already been posted, but, there are a ton of threads and posts, so, just in case...

Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi has revealed that the upcoming sixth entry in the racing simulator series is also being considered for release on PlayStation 4.

Speaking at today’s Gran Turismo 15th Anniversary event at Silverstone racetrack in England, Yamauchi told IGN, “We actually do have a PlayStation 4 version in mind, but for this holiday season, we thought it would be best for users to release on PS3 for now.”

So Fictional tracks are now given day/night option? Could someone confirm this?

Just got up this morning! :)

Can't wait for GT6!

Anyone notice those lap times on these screen shots? No Nissan Z nor GTR are doing 1:12s and 1:13s on the full Silverstone circuit, this proves a different layout was what is being ran! Which one?

:) yeah, I always think back like that too - worlds apart and almost inconceivable back then.

One wonders for how long, or how frequently. But kudos for PD realizing a strong DLC approach is a good thing.

I'm in two minds about this. While having new DLC released consistently from when it's released, to well after the game was released is great, providing us with lots of new content so it's not just a case of what we buy is the be all and end all, I'd much rather more would be included from the off.

DLC is good until a point where you end up spending more than it cost you for the game itself. I'd like there to be a well thought out and consistent flow of DLC that provides us with a whole host of new stuff, rather than tiny little bits at a time.

So, Willow Springs, Silverstone, and we can assume Mount Panorama, no? What does that leave us...?

Seattle, possibly? I recall there were screenshots released that took place there.

Sorry for quoting this image, as many others have. I'd just like to say that I was very happy when I noticed the possible inclusion of Time Change on a circuit that currently doesn't have it. It put a smile on my face that we may possibly, just possibly, get this on many of the current tracks. It would be a big plus for sure, it's something I've hoped would happen more so than most things.

Have a look at file names here around Silverstone pictures. They are from the Press kit:

It appears there will be the GP, International and National layouts, judging by them. It makes sense since the latter two are made by closing parts of the full layout.

The International would be the Southern one.

Me too, and it shouldn't be too hard to pull off. They don't have to have weather too, but it would be nice.

Wonder how PD will do DLC:
Will they have the Season Pass like Forza?
5 Car DLC A month?
DLC Based on current cars? (Like the first DLC pack for GT5 with the TC)
10 Cars a month?
Mostly Japanese cars?
Themed DLC? (Hypercar pack, LMP Pack, Classic pack .etc)
???

Late but needs to be said:

Guys this game is coming for Play Station 3 AND Play Station 4...

The official Sony You Tube Channel says this in their description:

"The wait is over, Gran Turismo 6 is finally coming... soon !

Gran Turismo 6 Official Trailer (PS4) HD. Release date : 2013 - 2014 for PS3 - PS4. Subscribe now to get the best PlayStation 3 (PS3), PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Playstation Games trailers, gameplay teasers, videogame walkthrough and ingame videos ! Gran Turismo 6 Trailer."

That is NOT the Official Sony channel, that's the "PlaystationTrailers" Channel (which ironically also has trailers for games on the 260 and the Wii-U, making it even less "official").

I get the feeling this has more to do with the Stores that sell these games then the actual developers/publishers making the game. Think about it: It doesn't matter where you pre-order your game, your money is still going to the Developer/publisher. However, Best Buy will not get your money if you pre-order from gamestop. Likewise, Amazon won't get your money if you pre-order from Target's.

I'm very interested in the GPS feature. I'm likely getting my own hopes up, but if I could record a lap at a local road course or auto cross (similar to the running apps like Nike's) I could download it on my ps3 and race it virtually as well.

That's what I'm hoping, I would love to make a track out of Laurel or Olney out here in Maryland.

It might be something like Uncharted 3 where you buy a pass at the start for 20 or 30 euro and get discounts on all the DLC that they release over the year.
