Gran Turismo 6 coming to PS3

Somehow I don't think the actual box art is going to be aped from Acura/Honda promotional art from over a decade ago.

Btw, if we're not getting any more DLCs, then the revealed tracks we saw from the latest Acura and Corvette trailer would pretty much indicate that it may very well be for GT6... on PS3. Funny thing is that we don't even have confirmation on whether or not we'll be getting any more DLC at all. It's like they're toying with our head, and I'm not sure I'm too fond of it.

It's an interesting point because most of that trailer certainly didn't look PS4 quality, not the two old original GT tracks anyway. However at that stage PS4 wasn't revealed so they could have just thrown in old/early versions of the tracks in the video as they weren't allowed to show anything new.

I'm still going to be amazed if they announce and release a GT game within 6 months.

They could surely use those tracks and cars for a PS4 version of GT.

That's pretty weird to me though. You can't really say "old/early" version if they're PS3 quality. If they don't want to show "old/early" versions of new tracks, then they might as well not show any new tracks (and location) at all. The fact that they showed us those new tracks, in PS3 quality, is either an indication of GT5 DLC or GT6 PS3. It can't be a downgraded PS4 teaser, I don't think.

It is but perhaps they were from a time it was going to be a PS3 game or DLC and they started upscaling the old PS2 tracks which is what we saw but they've since gone back and done more work for them again for PS4. It's certainly plausible I think, Motegi wasn't much more than an upscaled PS2 port and these tracks could have been intended to be released as well.

The premium cars are "PS3 Quality" too and I'm very sure they're not going to increase the amount of details for a PS4 GT title. Actually the cars change to low qualitly models when we use them on track, you only see the full ones in photomode.
The tracks can easily be "downsized" for PS3 uses, it's not such a big deal to have higher quality builds for a PS4 GT.

Well, for what purpose would they show us those new tracks and location then? The two trailers was released just last year, and it'd be funny to me if it's true on the fact that they simply decide to show us the new tracks and location that we won't see until the PS4 version of GT6.

I mean if those tracks are cancelled for the PS3 version, then why bother showing it to us? It's not like they don't have enough tracks from GT5's current state to make a trailer.

Like above, I understand all that. I'm just trying to point out (what purpose) on why they would do such a thing as to show us those new tracks or location in PS3 quality at all.

You're aware of PD, right? Who knows why they do a lot of the things they do.

You're right, I fold. And actually, they are a group that seem to change their minds (and plans) quiet a bit. Nothing is ever solid, so perhaps that's why they're silent as is, because even they don't know what they're planning and sticking with in the long run. The start of this generation was a messy one for GT since the start of GTHD. They probably had a really, really hard time in deciding whether to make GT6 for PS3 or PS4. Scratch that, they probably still can't decide lol.

Ugh, E3 can't come soon enough. I want to put an end to this.

Yep, all this back and forth really is getting tiresome. We need something concrete and E3 is hopefully the time. Then we can look forward to the "It should have been on X console, I'm not buying it now" posts instead.

I remember the consensus around here when the GT 5 disc was shown. Everyone said it was fake because it looked poor, even the wheel was off centre on the printed disc. PD would never produce such an amateur looking product etc.

They did though.

That's because they based their judgement of good quality on "is it centered or not". That Porsche/Ruf cover has a resolution worse than the screen on my radio. One does simply not produce such poor material.

I've certainly seen worse mock ups and fan creations for box art than that one but yes, still blatantly not a PD product.

I hope, we'll see a new GT Academy in May. Could be a separate game (as last year), but based on GT6 without us knowing it. And right on E3 they say: "Final rounds of GT Academy soon ... btw: you're basically playing GT6". Boom! Official release in October/November right before PS4, but on PS3.

I think Grand Theft Auto V and Gran Turismo 6 are in the same boat; both were developed before PS4 developer kits were available. And their finished products will come just before the launch of a new generation (at least Sony's next gen).

Business is about making money now. How can Sony make money now? It's clear with 70 million PS3's on the market that a PS3 GT6 could sell well (though I believe it might be the worst selling GT ever).

Now, if we ignore the signs around us from online retailers and the Sony executive talking about a PS3 GT6, then maaaaaaaaaybe we could see a PS4 GT6 next year. My money's still on the PS3, though.

I get your point but do not forget the article mentioning that PD were instrumental in the PS4's design. I think therefore that they have had the dev kit longer than others who have not helped with this, so more than two years.

Ok PD/Sony we need just one more bit of info... a lot of days without nothing to talk about.

It's getting annoying. Damn. :(

Amar said on some other forum that these next weeks are going to be exciting for GT fans.

Can't
Freaking
Wait. :scared::scared::scared:

Yea with a platform that makes game development easier. And with a budget like PD's with the amount of groundwork PD has put in the past 15 years there is no reason not to produce a fine product bi-yearly! Especially one that does not need a story-line!

Pretty much how I see it too - here's hoping :)

I hope Amar hasn't forsaken GTP due to the silly quibbling and in-fighting going on. I quite enjoyed his posts.
