For controller users - I've found a MASSIVE change for the better when setting the controller sensitivity from Default to Max.... wow its a different game! Oversteer is MUCH easier to countersteer into without yeeting me into outerspace.

*inb4 all the wheel users start hating, I have a trusty G27 on my PC rig that is due for upgrade, I just haven't found the spare cash to upgrade to a Fanatec DD yet.
Interesting, will try tonight. So far I've managed to counter oversteer on most cars but we'll see.

Bought the Toyota Supra 3.0 GT turbo. The car indeed feel a bit weird. I don't really have trouble to keep it on track but it feels super snappy for some reason. On comfort tyres, I feel like it should be more "lazy" ? I'm driving it like a Gr3 car in GT sport ! Correcting all the time and giving many steering inputs.

I also feel like there is much less "filtering" in the steerring (I play with DualSense). Very small inputs can make the car turn a lot more than in GT Sport. I think the physics have changed, but also the controls, it's a bit weird. I don't know how other players feel about this.

This helps a lot with catching the slide. thanks.

No change here, I use maximum since first run. You don't want slow response. GTS was the same.

Yeah, I set to -2 after someone on here mentioned may help with snap rwd oversteer, but aftter watching some youtube clips recently I've gone to the max and much prefer immediate response. Basically removes 'dead zon' when moving the thumbstick.

That's strange thing on GT, you set max and it's still too slow. :D It would be nice to have better settings because current physics deserves it.

Some racing cars have too sensitive brakes which could be solved but lowering brake pressure and that's not possible. Linearity tuning for pedals would help too.

If I don't play other games, I rather like current gamepad status. Much better feeling than in GTS but probably mostly because of physics.

Overall much better than I thought. My current problem is broken economy and no races and it's easily fixable.

Agree mate. I love the handling, physics, wouldn;t have any qualms about game if economy, number of races was improved.

I didn't have time to try CS, looking forward to that.
I tried CS on GR86 and it was about as manageable as SH (pretty easy) just slower. Unfortunately oversteer still isn't easy enough to control to where I can have fun with it.. but at this point it might just be my rusty drifting skills.

I ran the 997 GT3 around Deepforest on SH and it's actually a lot of fun except for the last turn. I'm not sure how the game wants you to go through that turn, but I was unable to figure it out. Even coasting with low lateral G's you'll get loose like it's hydroplaning.

I need to retest all older 911. On gamepad they were very bad in GTS (too much help). In real, rear-heavy car should be a bit tricky. You can't steer it the same as other cars so maybe it's not off.

I really don't like AC's road cars. There's no Evo in there to compare, but driving the GTR Nismo, it's horribly stiff and mad understeers. The Evo's S-AWC AYC allows induced oversteer on low speed corners on throttle. The ATTESA E-TS in the GTR is suppose to torque split the same way the Evo does between the left and right rear wheels, but the steering response feels like an open diff AWD. I feel like with AC to achieve real world lap times, the brakes are really strong that allows you to late brake and turn in, but the cars don't flow well around corners.
The two cars are not exactly the same between AC and GT7, the one in AC is a '14 and the one in GT7 is a '17, the '14 has a stiffer suspension set-up than the '17 (which in turn has a stiffer set-up than the '20).

I've just taken one for a drive around Brands in AC, and the only way to get 'mad understeer' was to go into corners far too hot (which is easy to do, as it's stupidly quick for a road car), getting the rear active on 2 gear corners wasn't an issue either, and certainly not like an open diff, which would have seen power spinning away, and I found it flows perfectly well, in fact for a car of it's weight it's stupidly agile.

Edited to Add:

Stock car and track, no mods for either. TCS is either off or at its lowest setting, ABS, but no Stability Control. I even left the tyre pressures stock.

GTS was the first GT game I skipped, infact the PS4 was the first Sony console I skipped too, so I'm not able to carry any knowledge over from GTS.

I figured the default controller setting would be fine, obviously not!

Oh, that must be it. I played GT5 and 6 on a wheel but I think it was there too. They don't change much.

Great. It's first thing I do and didn't know it's so hidden. Default feels rather slow. It's good you find it better too.

That's how I feel too, 7 sensitivity feels like 3 sensitivity in terms of initial response. I find that turning it down to -2 gives me the same response as 7, but changes the sensitivity of countersteering. It's really weird 😂😂

S-10 drove me crazy last night. I haven't had as hard of a time since Mission 34.

All the problems with GT7's snap oversteer and the little margin for error, combined with a literal lack of a margin for error with the wet apexes and track outside the racing line, and you have a perfect storm for frustration. In about 2 hours and 200 miles of running I completed 3 clean laps, the 3rd being just enough for gold. There's time out there for sure but I don't care, it was 4AM.

Something that did disappoint me was the TCS though. I had seen someone mention that it kind of makes car control even worse because of how much response you lose, and I briefly tried to run TCS at 1, after seeing it used in the demonstration. Turned it off again almost immediately because it was only making it harder for me to manage the slip, and killing acceleration. Seemingly, this hasn't changed at all since GT5.

But let me just say that Porsche 917K is insane. Glad it's almost 20M so that I can likely never see it again. If it was so willing to swap ends on you in real life like that (most notably under braking and with any semblance of total lift), it probably wouldn't have been a WEC and Le Mans winner.

The Porsche 917K won Le Mans in 1970 my friend.

Edit: my bad I misread your post 😅😅.

I tried it with wheel and had the same experience. Then I tried it with controller, all assists and especially the contr steer assist. That one is incredibly powerful. I finished about 70 % of the attempts and got gold. Its an incredible eye opener.

This was made for controller with assists in mind. Once you see it you can not ignore it.

Though to be fair: GR 3 sport mode was good today. Of course with TCS 1.

This is very important. I hope it's not about gamepad only but assists in this game are crazy. I don't use any aids in any game. But some licenses felt very hard. It's not possible I am that bad. So I enabled everything and it was completely different game and gold was rather easy. There is no sense to me to seeing friends without checking assists. Forza has assists for TTs.

I can agree that AC's default setups leave much to be desired. They're so bland and boring. But once you tune a little, then the car comes to life

The physics for some cars feel nice, but the tuning can leave a lot to be desired, especially when tire and engine temps are simulated to some margin, but we have no means of measuring or adjusting tires besides jjust swapping out stuff.
At the same time. To get "improved" handling for some cars, it's really whacky, and something tells me it's off. Especially on the C4. Turn up rear ride height near max and look like a dragster but have amazing cornering ability at higher speeds. Honestly, I dunno how much I should trust these G numbers.
Also, please, PLEASE! Polyphony. That's nice you're fixing the physics on the lower end. But PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE just add proper tire slip mechanics. I shouldn't suddenly start oversteering out of nowhere. My car shouldn't go from "I have grip!" To "Wanna see how many spins I can do?"

The easiest way to see how the effect is. Take a RWD car (higher horsepower emphasizes the effect) and go on Willow Springs. On the long right hander, eventually apply more and more throttle. You'll go from gripping like sandpaper on a baby's skin all the way down to banana peel on ice and just spin out instantly.

I'm not quite sure what I'm looking at but this Supra doesn't seem to behave as a real car would when doing this kind of turning at over 160mph (part after the wheelie). Anyone ever see this in previous titles?

Oh man that's some advanced active aero! Keeps the car perfectly straight despite front wheel steering up and down the road!

There's a problem with applying too much steering input at high speed on a controller. It gets worse the lighter the car is and the stickier the tyre is. This is another area where they've gone backwards from GT Sport ffs.

I used to think that having less steering sensitivity was the way to go, but a few years ago I discovered that increased steering sensitivity made it easier for me to drive, not harder. It was this "eureka" moment that allowed me to improve my performance in Project Cars 2 and lead me back to Assetto Corsa after I sold my PS4 copy. I had low steering sensitivity in GT Sport because the damping at a higher sensitivity wasn't that good, however this is not the case in GT7. I don't remember but I think my sensitivity is at 6 and it works really well, similar to both versions of Assetto Corsa. Increasing the steering sensitivity is a way of compensating for the small range of movement with the stick. You need as much control as you can get when you don't have 520 degrees of rotation.

After doing the deep forest circuit experience I think the “snap oversteer” is rooted an extreme sensitivity of the steering input from the center. If you move the wheel at all going up the hill above a certain speed (off the throttle or on it) and you lose the back end.

I’m really enjoying the wheel spin in this game. Really have to focus on being in a straight line and having gentle throttle foot. Even using tc1 a bit.

Strange thing is I still have a feeling like it's scripted. 3 degrees or more with 25 % throttle or more = lose of grip. I don't know why but it feels a bit artificial. Still cool, I like the physics.

Has anyone already noticed that you drive with the old handling model from the release version at the licence tests. At the test IB-1 the difference is so apparently.
Could it be cold tires? I dunno, I did that test the weekend the game came out so it's been a while.
