HDMI 2.1 (HDCP 2.3)

Thanks both of you - now can you test the GT7 HDR when its in 120hz mode , want to figure out if it will be 8bit like base PS5

The Honda S800 has a shiny black steering wheel horn, the reflection of this showing my helmet move around as I look and the city in the background at Tokyo is very smooth and not blocky.
So reflections great. There is still ghosting/bluriness alongside vehicles and trees if I look up, so thats still on as I guess we are still on standard code vr projection.

So is this a factor of GT7 not updating for pro yet or a playstation core process that will affect all VR content?

I'm really hoping for reprojection and bluriness fixes and will be disappointed if that doesn't happen.

Its up to PD to give us an option to have no reprojection. I hope they do. As the PSVR2 hardware doesnt have to do it. But they could add more detail if they left it running, thats why I hope we can choose. People playing on TV seem to have agood choice of modes these days. The panel itself can do 90hz or 120hz.
We dont have PSSR implemented yet I think so things could be good for us.

Good news on the reflexions and mirrors. Thanks! These seem to indeed be running at a variable/dynamic fps/resolution. The raw Pro power seems to boost these up to higher quality. PD are masters in optimalisation. I'm very positive. Probably picking up a Pro tomorrow. I expect we will get a very Nice VR upgrade/update.

Probably won't make a difference but have you selected boost mode to on?

The No Man's Sky devs have said that VR2 does not support PSSR yet. So if there are any improvements to GT in VR, they will likely already exist from just the extra power of the Pro rather than being in the patch:

For PlayStation VR2 owners, not all PS5 Pro improvements are available at launch since PSSR isn't currently enabled for the headset. Hello Games told UploadVR that PSSR isn't supported at launch for titles using foveated rendering and it's currently looking into this.

The studio also informed us that the Dynamic Resolution Scaling (DRS) range will jump from 1458P to 2160P on PS5 Pro, stating that foveated rendering "increases the effective resolution by 300%.""

Aha! So No Man's Sky has gotten a PS5 Pro update. Without PSSR VR Support for now. But they do point out that PSSR VR support could really give an additional big upgrade in combination with Foveated Rendering. GT7 did not get a PS5Pro update yet. Hopefully Kaz wants to also implement PSSR VR support with the 1st PRO update. And hopefully this issue with Forfeated rendering and PSSR is already solved as we speak. It's starting to look really promising! :)

As much as I hope you're right, and as little as I know about the whole situation, but: given how little love PSVR has received from PD since it was originally introduced, I highly doubt that they would delay their Pro patch just because VR support was still missing. Also, from the linked article I cannot gauge if the lack of PSSR support for PSVR is just a bug that's being addressed in a small fix, or requires a lot more work and is so low on Sony's priority list (because they seem to have pretty much given up on the product as well) that it will take months to be implemented, if ever.

Again, I hope I'm wrong and you're right. Significantly improved VR performance in GT7 is the only thing that would let me pull the trigger on a Pro.

Well Maybe Sony/PD just waited for the PRO to release and then will be pushing VR more. Cerny literally said himself PSSR VR is coming "later". I'm really positive. Ps5Pro seems like the system that is supposed to match with the PSVR2. The whole Sony gave up on psvr2 is a sentiment created by pessimists on fora if you ask me. I think support for psvr2 is great and the catalog is growing. + now we get ps5pro support:)

Was this of a lesser quality on the regular ps5?
On the standard PS5 I saw spray effects slowing down in frame rate and resolution drop when there was lots going on. It renders seperately to the main visuals so there is no slowdown with the cars or screen refresh. Bit like reflections I guess.

.....

Regarding boost mode for PS4 games I tried it and I dont think it does anything.

Could I have some advice please? So what's the best mode for pro at the moment? Do I just set it to fidelity mode and leave it? I tried the 120hz but it still looked a little muddy.

Edit: don't worry got it now sorry.

Edit 2: I definitely noticed a difference to the 120hz from when I tried it last but still wasn't sure on it, may need to have a play around, may also be my TV.

Im not sure what tv you have. But, its worth checking the manual to make sure your plugging it into a good socket. Some tv’s still only have one or two and its not always hdmi1.

Thanks mate good shout. I got two 120hz slots, one is eArc as well. I did a double check because everything was going on while I was setting it up, thankfully in the right one 😊

I received my ps5 pro this morning. Did some quick testing on my 4k120z LG oled tv and samsung odyssey 1440p240hz ultrawide that is set up with my wheel and pedals. I usually run framerate mode/120hz/vrr but I also tried switching to resolution mode briefly. I also tested with PSVR2. I know we are pre patch, but so far nothing major is standing out to me, maybe image quality and/or frame rate has been slightly improved, everything feels good but nothing game changing to the experience on my launch PS5.
