oh... damn. I missed the entire thing.

That can't be right, now that I think about it. I think they show the races on off-weekends too.

Impressive number of passes for Monaco, good race 👍

Flawless performance from Kimi and McLaren, Renault must be happy to have a little gap to hang onto! What surprised me is that Webber didn't get penalised for clipping (or, more accuratly, going all the way inside) the curb while passing Alonso. The fact that he clearly was faster than Alonso didn't give him the right to get ahead that way. 👎 On the other hand, Heidfeild's move was squeeky clean (awesome, too).

Yacht seeing put aside, TV coverage was utterly weak... WE JUST DON'T CARE about the last lap of the leader while there's intense fighting behind! And I think we almost missed ALL overtaking moves by JPM, who did great to clear up his saturday mess, really impressive for Monaco.

And that move from JV was pathetic. So far, reports I've heard from it says Massa don't blame him (is he afraid of a meeting in the parking lot? :P ) , and JV doesn't really apologize for screwing up and make the team lose at least 3 to 5 points. Not Minardi-pathetic, but close.

Great race, flawless from Kimi. I was dissapointed that Webber missed out on a possible 2nd position because his team mate (who was behind him) got the pit advantage.

Great move on Alonso by Nick. With that business between Mark and Alonso I think Alonso was more in the wrong than Webber, he cut the whole chicane twice - at least Mark attempted it.

And so much for my prediction about Friesacher getrting 8th , he caused enough incidents.

I'm kinda suprised, we saw more passing at Monaco than we have all year :P

I'm really suprised that Renault could 1-stop it from a pit-stop that early in the race.

Good race, very enjoyable and a good result.

Indeed. On the first pit stop though, it's Heidfeild who got unlucky, being stuck behind Webber in the pit laine (if I remember correctly).

But he cut the chicane avoiding crashing into Webber, who was already inside the curb! :P

I think that's what doomed their race, they had so much fuel that the tires wore out too fast, and they had to save fuel to be able to reach the end. A risky bet that didn't work...

I actually think Renault's idea was very good, I just think if they had decided on it previousley they might have used harder compounds and Fisichella not stumbled so badly.

Just a note... They were using the hardest compounds they had... But the geometry of Renault's suspension make them harder than McLaren ones, that's why, even using the hardest tyres, Alonso burned out his tyres...

Indeed, if Heidfeld could overtake Alonso the nice way, then why not Webber too?

Alonso just knew that Webber's action was incorrect, so he cut the chicane when he was ALREADY in the middle of it. I still think that has to be investigated. They would have CRASHED that way...

i think the highlight of the race was really the storm trooper pit crew.

...anything for marketing. ;)

Kimi...wow!

Alonso...(renault) dumb tire choice, though it showed a weakness of the car (eating rear tires)

Albers...you don't belong in F1. You have no future in it and you are not qualified to even drive in F1 (this goes for the other minardi driver and those two pathetic Jordon drivers). I'm all for the little guy and rookies getting their start but I can't remember a more inept rookie class in years.

Quick Nick....glad to see you finally getting the limelight you deserve, to bad Sir Frank is going to can you in favor of (the very over rated) Jenson Button. Good for Sir Frank he can now have the two most over rated drivers on the grid in Webber and JB...nice!

JV...I don't even know what to say anymore...

Ferrari....never count these guys out but their season is almost over...

Trulli...I love ya but damn, how do you loose like 6 places in one lap (granted his tires were shot...)..it reminded me of the magny-cors pass from last season, yikes! Give the guy a Red Bull so he can stay awake in the race.

DC...I bet Albers will be getting a "Scottish Handshake" in the coming week!

JPM...I love ya...but damn, you can't mess with people's lives like that!

Massa...don't blame the tires, you know it's JV's fault!

Liuzzi...you need more work, give the seat back to Klein so the team can get some points.

Rubens...maybe it's racing karma coming back to you this season. One can't bend over and take it for years on end and not expect some kind of karma to build up.

Ralphie...shut up and drive!

Fisi....Did you actually finish the race? After the midpoint I never saw you again. Did he take a wrong turn somewhere and end up in Italy?

MS...that was a stupid pass at the end. Let's try, think before you drive for you.

BAR - again did anyone really miss them?

Let's move on to the Nurburgring now...I'll make an early prediction here..

Kimi
Alonso
nick, webber and trulli will fight for third
JPM

However, he was already behind Mark at that point, Mark lost a valuable position on the 2nd stop.

I'm pretty sure Webber wasn't inside the curb when Alosno decided to go straight ahead.

Agreed 👍

And kensei, about BAR, I keep telling you, no!

Errr, prediction for Nurb:

Kimi
Trulli
Alonso
Webber

Renault did not make the wrong tire choice. They actually chose the harder compound Michelins for the race.
Their car's geometry simply eats up through rear tires very quickly. It's something that should have improved by now... I remember Alonso mentioning since Imola that he chose to protect his tires during the first few stints of the race.
Also... adding all that extra fuel during the Safety Car period only added to the load on the rear tires.

There's talk of MS trying to cause a red flag during the pile up caused by one of the Minardis. His car apparently did not need any kind of assistance to get moving. His car was pointing down hill which raises the question as to why his Ferarri was stopped. It should have rolled down hill, off the racing line, and let the others continue past. There was plenty of room of behind the Minardi for cars to get past.

The SC period really made the race. If Renault had not chosen to re-fuel like Kimi, Alonso probably would have scored a podium. Perhaps even a 2 - 3 for Renault. All that extra fuel weight really destroyed their tires.

I think there's a very high probability for McLaren 1 -2 at the Nurburgring. JPM is not a bad driver. There's no reason why he shouldn't be able to come close (or match) the pace of his teammates. Renault, Williams, and Toyota will be strong. They'll fight amongst each other for points.
Ferrari will have an uphill battle. They're going to be midpack for qualifying. So they'll have to put in 2 strong hotlaps to get anywhere near the front rows.
BAR... doomed. Having to qualify first means they'll constantly have to struggle being near the back of the grid for the next several grands prix.

I saw most of the race, but I do not want to comment on it so much as Speed Channel. It is bad enough that it was apparently not live, though all graphics indicated it was until Bob Varsha announced that time constraints forced them to pick up the action later, but that the precious show they had to bring us is an ARCA race. Oh, the world would end without the airing of an ARCA race. No other show should be pre empted, let's edit the Monaco GP.

I ended my boycott, which I was pretty good about for a while, so they could do this?! Sorry, Speed Channel, but "Unique Whips" doesn't get you off the hook.

Well the teams all agreed that there will be one lap on Saturday, if some other governing body accepts this then we'll only have one quali lap from now on :)

he he... totally OTT, but quite funny as welll... I liked the interview Martin Brundle had with DC... he admitted he hadn't seen all the Star Wars movies, but thought that 'Princess Layla' was worth watching... go back to sleep David...

I see that there is 8 races in the next 11 weeks... :dopey:

I wasn´t watching the Saturday´s practices this season because the times were not final, but now I think I´ll wake up earlier on this Saturday. 08:00 AM. :scared:

You aren't the only one that is pissed off about the skipping of laps. And it was for an ARCA race?!?!?! What kind of crap is that? Why don't they just make a stock car channel and leave SPEED to the real kind of racing?

If there anymore races in at the Monaco track, espcially, this summer, you can expect to catch me there. In person.

I'm actually shocked that NASACR doesn't have a NASCAR channel. The yankees here in NYC have their own channel. NASCAR is bigger than the yankees and nationwide.

I'd love SPEED to split in two. A channel for NASCAR, ARCA, Monster trucks, AMA, Supercross, etc etc. and a second for European racings, F1, DTM, GP2, F3, WTCC, ALMS (I know it's a US series), FIA GT, BTCC, Moto GP, etc etc. I jsut doubt there is the viewership for two channels. It seems speed has a hard enough time paying the bills airing 90000000 hours of NASCAR coverage per week.

I'm not slamming NASCAR, I'm not a diehard fan but I do follow it and do enjoy some of the races. However all the fan based shows and special interest NASCAR shows get a little tiresome. Too much of a good thing sucks. Too little of a good thing sucks more.

I do much prefer Speed's coverage of F1 over CBS. Derek Daly must go away, far far away and never return!

It should be more like Can't race Channel and Real Racing Channel. Those of you that dissagree, when you have a 10 cautions (a record that night) on a track where trucks go around in circles then you'll understand.

How many times have I said this in the past two years? Not enough for Murdork to listen to me. A second channel was needed two years ago, and now more than ever.

Doesn't NASCAR have partial ownership of the channel, or is this part of some agreement FOX has with them to carry NASCAR programming on Speed as an addition to the races FOX broadcast carries?

That's really ****ed up just like EA and their games. :irked:

Rupert Murdoch owns NASCAR, the Speed Channel and good chunk of Hughes Electronics which owns DirecTV. He used to own the LA Dodgers, but sold them, along with a bunch of other stuff, to buy NASCAR, Speed Channel and HE. He paid 6.6 billion dollars for all of it.

So, if Murdork wants NASCAR on SC morning, noon and night, it will happen. SC can now be seen as nothing but a big infomercial to promote NASCAR. He screwed up the Dodgers, and now he's screwed up SC, IMO.

On a good note, one-and-half years after selling the Dodgers, they finally start coming around. They did have a big lead in the NL, but now have lost it in traditional Dodger fashion.

Hi kensei,

I don't really get the logic between your 2 asserttions ; if you take the right to complain about Michael's behaviour, why Ralf could not do it also ?? Or did I miss something ?

Now for the guys who flamed webber, several things to notice :
1. Heidfeld overtook Alonso by suprised. Great move. It was clear then that Fernando, who is far from being stupid, was now aware of his weakness at this point of the track, and would brake the later he could, so things were harder for Weber then.
2. It's not easy to overtake at Monaco
3. You don't have an idea about weber's tire wear, they might be not as good as Heidfeld
4; F1 drivers are paid to overtake. Are you the same guys who complain about the fact that F1 does not provide a good show ? This race was nice, some drivers made it exciting, and Mark was among them.
5. If you think you can do better, well, send a mail to williams in order to gain a test !! :)

I don't intend to flame anybody, just say I think you were a bit unfair with a guy who did his best to earn the first podium of his season after some tough moments.

regards,

Snypa
