Seeing how this forum is multi national. Is there anyone that made it to the last part of last years GT Academy here or ever was here on GTplanet.net?

I'll be competing in the Northeast as GT5Racer0!

It's been a day now, and I haven't received an email confirmation, nor is it in my spam filter. Strange..

Plenty of GTP members made it to their respective GT Academy National Finals and a handful made it through to the Silverstone International.

1) Part of the forum where the 2010 European GT Academy was discussed heavily - https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=222

My 18th birthday is January 29th, which is a mere 6 DAYS after the cutoff. This SUCKS, I wanted to register for this so friggen bad.

West here. I don't know why I'm not Midwest though. Kansas is normally considered midwest.

West checking in. I registered two days ago and I still didn't get my confirmation email with my hotmail account. (weird) tried to registered again and it said you already registered. So I guess I'm in?

Looking to get into round two at least and looking forward to see you members online for practice runs as well.

I guess nebraska is in the west now.... oh well if I don't make the top 16 it don't matter anyways. My psn is DeanR have about ten years of ameture racing experiance... two on motorcycles. Look foward to some training sessions.... I say if we get into the top 16, we make a special GTP pin for the show lol

Did you try looking in your Spam folder?
I use gmail, which is usually pretty good about not spamming things I actually want, but this time the email was in the spam folder.

Yeah, I had tried that and nothing is in it either? I was going to use my gmail account but instead used my hotmail because its linked to PSN.

You could always just register anyway, using a slightly earlier birthday.

The worst that happens is you that you make it all the way and they eventually check your birthday and disqualify you. They might never notice.

Lots of people are registering using fake US addresses from other countries, so I wouldn't worry about it. Just go ahead and register.

Anyone know if they are putting an actual GT Academy track in the US and where it will be?

I was wondering if it might be an updated Infineon. We know they have modeled it, as it was in GT4, but it is so far absent from GT5. It is in the US, and could very likely be the location for the GT academy events.

I was hoping Infineon as well... It's only about 1h from SFO so it's easy for folks to fly in. Also, if the competition is during the winter, there should be plenty of lodging in wine country as it's kind of off-season. I would just love to have the track in the game in general.

I have no idea how I'll do (hope to do well) - I played the last time attack demo once for about 45 minutes. My world ranking was 900-something in the untuned 370z (something around 1:50-flat IIRC). I didn't even know you could win anything, so I just stopped (at least another 1.5-2s were out there)...I know better this year.

I'm down to practice - I bought a 370z and put some comfort soft tires on it since that is what was used in the demo (the tires were called N3 at the time).

The following tracks in GT5 are located in the US (probably good bets a couple of these will be in the competition):
- Daytona
- Indianapolis
- Laguna Seca (Mazda...but still, a legend)

Other world circuits that PD seems to love (based on race choices)
- Nurburgring (what an insane time trial that would be...)
- Suzuka
- Tsukuba
- Fuji
- Monza

Finally, some GT "classics" that might be included:
- Grand Valley
- Cape Ring (totally unrealistic, but a fun new track)

I think it would be kind of lame to have one of those fantasy courses like Deep Forest, Trial Mountain, or Stage 5 as they are unlike anything you would actually race on in real life.

Yeah I'm hoping it will be that track too. :)

I read the rules and the actual physical competition is going on at Silverstone like previous GT Academys.

Isn't the idea of a poll to get both positive and negative (measurable) opinions on a particular subject?

All these choices look like another way to say "yes, I'm excited."

I'm about as excited as those moments in GT5 when I'm waiting to see what kind of prize car I got....and we all know the quality of the prize cars in this game.
