If it's at Silverstone again, you should probably pick up a subscription to iRacing. Forza has it, but I don't have an xBox or MS wheel (stupid that it doesn't support Logitech wheels).

Anyone know which race series has the spot for the American winner?

I registerd on the 5th but never recived a confrmantion email. Anyone not get theres right away?

P.S. Im an american, Im just serving overseas in the military and dont see myself making it through round 1 anyway LOL

Just got the email 5 min ago and I registered on the 5th or 6th.

My PSN is thedimachka and my region is the northeast. Not really sure how well I will do as I just got the logitech DFGT after GT5 came out. I am already doing far better than I ever have on previous Gran Turismos when I used controller, but not certain I'll have enough time to practice/learn to get into the top 128 for the northeast. But I can hope!

Anyone know when they will announce the details of the first round of competition so we can start practicing? Like what car/tires/track/setup rules?

Looks like an official announcement about specific cars/tracks won't come until the day the time trial becomes available. Some speculation on this forum is that the 370z will be used on US tracks (Daytona, Laguna Seca, Indianapolis). There's also a GT-R academy version, so that might be utilized as well. Who knows...

I read the rules end-to-end, and it looks like round one is actually 3 time trial events that are open over an entire 5 week span. If that's true, I think the times will be very competitive in the last week, likely with hundredths of a second separating the top drivers.

Also - it looks like the national finals will be in Orlando. This might have been a mistake that an editor missed before publishing the rules. In several locations the rules just refer to the national competition in general terms, but in one instance it is referred to as the "Orlando Finals Bracket". This shouldn't be a shock - behind Vegas, Disney World is the 2nd biggest conference center location in the US.

The weekly prizes will probably up the high end competition, but I agree the last week will probably be grueling with everyone perfecting their lap times.
Should be interesting, Im gunning to try to win a poster which might be difficult if my math is correct and you have to be in the top 60 nationally to win one. But overall Im pretty confident on getting in 128 regionally for round 1 - go SouthEast!

Super new member to the GTP family, been reading these boards forever. Anyway, I'll be giving it a shot, what the heck right, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I didn't know you were on the West Coast here in the states 👍 See you in the semi's (if I can last that long!)

A time trial for the nurburgring would be AMAZING!!!! Here's to hoping I'm as good with wheel as I am with a controller! :nervous::scared:

:dopey:👍

You will be. If you are REALLY entrenched in your old ways with the controller it might take a little bit, but shouldn't be more than a couple hours of game play.

I think you'll find the most difference is in long, wide, sweeping corners where analog inputs to throttle and steering are much easier to perform with a wheel/pedals than they are with a d-pad/analog stick/R2/L2.

Isn't the idea of a poll to get both positive and negative (measurable) opinions on a particular subject?

All these choices look like another way to say "yes, I'm excited."

I'm about as excited as those moments in GT5 when I'm waiting to see what kind of prize car I got....and we all know the quality of the prize cars in this game.

WHy would anyone feel negative towards something they don;t have to take part in or something that will award hem free prizes if they are good enough?

Southeast.

I voted Want to be a Real Driver, although it does sound like fun, and I would like to win some cool prizes. I feel pretty confident that I could make the top 128 in my region if I can get enough practice in. That's the problem, though. If I make it to Round 2 though, its on. I'll be in that chair for countless hours.

I have a feeling its gonna be Laguna Seca. That would play into my hands.:)

Here's to some fun racing folks.

I'm entering, don't expect to make it too far but it's going to be fun. Representing southeast

Registered from the Midwest.

Probably mid-pack at best, but it's all about the fun of it. There is a thread started for practices in the GT5 OLR forum for those that are interested.

West Coast here.

Honestly, it just looks like fun. I'm guessing around back of the pack speed, but hey, just to say I competed will be enough for me 👍

Good luck to everyone else, and I'll see you on the track!

Also, forgot to mention, my PSN is CaptHamster, not GTHamster!
