I have just compared the M3 CSL vid with Amar's 1- series vid and is accuracy of track detial is quite amazing! I had to pause the CSL quite a few times for the 1- series to catch up but everything looked very well copied...however the CSL vid is on a sunny day and the GT4 one is on a more overcast one.....the lighting effects are different.....

Great rendering PD!

a 650hp radical tuned 911 gt2 isnt exactly a production car in the classical sense like the gt3 or csl which are sold by porsche and bmw

martinmaxx i can assure u they timed it from the points that porsche uses too since they had the 7.54 porsche comparisson time...the csl times where even on lcd displays at the last passenger car IAA at the ///M stand

lets jst draw a line and say they all haul ass if guided by an experienced hand

No offense, but did you really need to make 2 posts to say that? You could have gone back and edited it. That's why it's there.
No offense, though.

ok so nobody has even tried my link yet

the car in that does 6:41

That "thing" is fast!! And I am calling it "thing" because it is hardly a production car.

Your link indicates that only 25 cars of that exact configuration have been made, and they recon it is a race car with a license plate. Homologation rules for the Group B cars of the ´80s mandated a run of around 200 road versions. And those rules were considered extremely flexible.

Besides, a turbocharged Hayabusa motorcycle engine with 320hp... you better not try more than 2 consecutive laps around the ´Ring!

Anyhow, that time is impressive. I believe it is close to the Gr. C Rothmans Porsche diriven by Dereck Bell/Jacky Ickz. And it should be, having the same 600bhp per ton as the 80´s race car.

I would love to have the CSL in GT4, to test it against the latest NSX-R.

After playing GT4P with the DFP, I always prefer to drive normal cars on street tires, rather than race cars with slicks. The limited grip of these vehicles, and the controlability GT4 offers is exceptional.

Driving a CSL or NSX-R on the Nürburgring... priceless!!!

I was playing Pro race driver last night and i did the track in like 1 minute and 45 seconds. And i suck at that game. Is there something wrong here. I picked the track called nurbergring long.???

I don´t have Pro Race Driver, but the Nürburgring track you mention must be the GP track (the one that F1 cars use). Being a "long" version must have something to do with the game also having a shorter variant.

The Nürburgring track we are referring to is the "Nordshliefe" or "North Curve", which is more than 4 times longer than the GP course.

You can check the Nordshliefe on both Amar´s and the CSL video.

BEST REGARDS from MEXICO!
Thanks Amar for your time and efford on sharing this video !!

First post here and possibly last.

Only registered here to view the video and was kinda disappointed.
I think the sport tires give way too much grip.
Keep in mind that this is a fairly heavy family car (right ?) and not a F1 race car.
It looked like watching need for speed underground and that can't be a good sign.
It's probably because it wants to encourage people buying this car, giving it ability's it doesn't have.
Also, I can't imagine the GT enthusiast driving with the buttons and not the sticks, but that is another story.

Anyway, flame me if i'm talking out of my ass.

Ok, you're a moron. What do you want it to do? Slide off and hit the barrier? They aren't driving on ice, you know. I don't know exactly how you think it isn't realistic, nonetheless, if you've ever watched any real life 'ring videos, I think you'll notice it's pretty realistic. If you want a game that races on that track with too much grip, go play PGR2. I also believe that the fact it did the lap in just under 8 minutes credits itself to being realistic.

Let´s clear up your grip concern : Amar was using "sport" tires, and not the "road" or "street" tires the Series 1 comes equipped with. In GT4P there is noticeable difference between street and sport tires.

I don´t think BMW is trying to give it´s Series 1 any ability it does not have. They do not need to, as there are only Series 1 vehicles in the Demo!!!!

Amar did a 9min 50sec lap time. Eventhough he used the controller´s buttons, this is the single most important video of GT4 released up to this date. Of course, most of us would have preferred him to use the DFP, and trace perfect lines around the track.

Besides, the entusiasm for GT is not defined by the controller you use. Many of the fastest GT drivers use the DS2´s buttons or sticks.

What "under 8 minute lap" are you referring to?

Amar did it in around 9min 50 sec with sport tires (medium grip).

Welcome to GTP kaollo. Your grip concerns have been addressed, and I'll just add that quite a few of the best drivers in the world use the buttons, it's just more convenient for a lot of us. Hope you do stick around and post more.

Yeah can't say I see myself as anyless a GT fan than anyone else just because I mostly use my DS2. Which is mostly because I can't be bothered to setup my old Driving Force wheel

Also bear in mind that the buttons are pressure sensitive. Which gives you a bit more control with the buttons than before and insures your finger on the X button hurts after only a few minutes (when trying to get maxium acceleration ;))

First, sport tires.

Second, amar212 appears to be driving cautiously (watch as he avoids wheel lock by tapping the brakes before turns).

Third, note that he's in a modern production car and not going all that fast most of the time (note that the speedometer is in km/h). Most cars shouldn't be a handful at such speeds.

The 1 series is a Hatchback and not a family saloon, it's competitors are things like the VW Golf (not a heavy family car) , Its claim to fame is that it is the only rear wheel drive car in its class.

I imagine it was indeed designed to have "sporty handling" . I think its BMW's first attempt to break into the "Hot Hatch" market.

Anyone else got a copy of the Demo? No...surely only true GT enthusiast's would get hold of that 2 months before it is out. :sly:

If anyones interested i have a DVD about Skylines which includes a lap by a very high powerd Skyline around the 'ring. Now I'd need someone to tell me how to rip it (which program to use etc.) and then some one would either have to tell me how to compress it or i could just send it them so they could do it. Also I'd need somewhere to upload it to.

Anyway if you people want it just reply here or PM me

Later

Slicer

*EDIT: I have a DVD ripper so all i need now is some who has some webspace for me to upload it to*

Is it the same as this video?

No, I believe Slicer is referring to Duke´s DVD "Nissan Skyline GTR - The 200mph supercar". It is a very nice video, featuring -among other content- 3 laps around the Nürburgring in the Prospec R34 GTR (a 550bhp Mine´s engined GTR), driven by Dirk Shoysman. Dirk hapens to be one of the drivers of the R/L Falken GTR.

The video you mentioned is in CobraGT´s thread here : https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=47115

Your right it is that DVD. Aswell as the lap around the 'ring, it also has a lap around spa and videos of skylines doing over 200mph on motoways. Anyway I'm in the middle of ripping it now so it shouldn't be long.

*BTW I'm only ripping the 'ring lap, if you want to see the full DVD you can buy it here - http://www.dukevideo.com/products/3638.htm*

im guessing that the dvd you are reffering to is theNissan Skyline story??? if so can you tell me if its any good?

Too bad I can't get that, dont live in the U.K.

You can purchase it through www.amazon.co.uk . I did that myself, and they shipped it to Argentina without prob. Actual link to product is :

I believe it is worth every cent (or penny).

There is also some footage of the Falken Skyline around the Nürburgring GP track, and a Top Secret tuned Skyline with 1200hp doing 328km/h in a Tokio tunnel at night. The car reached top speed in a little less than 20 seconds!!

The DVD is a must for anyone who like Skylines. I mean, 200mph+ on a Belgum (sorry if I spelt that wrong!) motoway in the middle of the day?!? AND they didn't get banned from driving when they were caught by the police

Slicer, does the footage of the Falken have a shimmering problem like the vid on my thread? I would like to see a better quality vid. You could get jordan to upload the vid on gtp.
