It's not Autumn Ring, it's Autumn Ring Mini, if anything. I'm too lazy to get a comparisson pic but if someone does it should be obvious.
There's Autumn Ring and Autumn Ring Mini, both are shown in the track selection.

RPG - Role Playing Game - You are playing a role in game :)

And that's exactly what I do, I play a role as racing driver, rally driver, team manager, mechanic, dude who works at the carwash, car journalist perhaps but most of all I play the role of someone who unlike me has too much money to indulge in buying, driving and racing multiple cars I couldn't buy in real life.

I mean come on, GT is somewhat similar in structure to an RPG ( collect gold, upgrade character, read car, etc. ), not literally every single element.
Not that I would notice that myself ( I've read an interesting article somewhere which pointed it out and it made sense ), as I've never actually played or felt the desire to play an RPG ( bit too geeky for my taste ).

Sorry Antti-san.;)

A RPG doesn't need any story or dialogue ...since when are game genres that much restricted?
Of course GT is something like a car role playing game, that's why so many people like the series. A simple racing simulation couldn't be as popular as GT is.

What defines an RPG is the lack of doing.

Think of your typical, geeky RPG. Dungeons & Dragons or Warhammer. You aren't doing anything. You're defining the actions of another party (your character/s or your army) and they are doing it. You're playing their role in that game.

GT isn't a role-playing game. The actions of your on-screen avatar aren't isolated from you by any step - you're doing the driving. However, GT5's B-Spec could be defined as an RPG - you assume the role of team manager and don't actually do anything, merely define the actions of a third party (your B-Spec Bobs and Bobinas).

Now, can we dispense with this quite tiresome sidebar?

In an RPG like Fallout and Oblivion you are controlling the character... same way as you are in control of a car in GT.

I agree with some that GT has some RPG elements, or atleast feel to it. But ofcourse GT will never fall under the RPG category. :)

Haven't played Oblivion, but Fallout isn't an RPG. It's a sandbox first-person shooter (unless you hold L2 - then it becomes third person).

It's still considered as an RPG. Maybe not as harcore as let's say Baldur's Gate, but still. And Oblivion is the successor of Morrowind. In these games you are in direct control of your character, in every step you do.

Which doesn't matter. It's no more an RPG than Call of Duty is.

In these games you are in direct control of your character, in every step you do.

And that's why.

Fallout's combat system - based on attributes and skill which improve as you level up, and Action Points - does owe a lot to AD&D specifically, but that doesn't make it AD&D. In fact, in many respects, GT5's B-Spec mode is a lot more of an RPG than Fallout 3 is.

Check this out, 5 mins drifting of Enzo on Tokyo, news-worthy if you ask me.

Niceeeeeee :D
but
Damn I want this Replay roofcam in the gameplay... you see so much more of the car and when you look back you see the rear , just so much more enjoyable , why not in the gameplay? 👎:grumpy:
sorry but its bugging me !

Mythbusters.

The real life sound is just a bit more dynamic, keep in mind that GT5 vid is not final product.

I do wonder how they will incorporate the differences between N S and R tires, in GT4 Ns were very loud to ride on S were less and R were practically inaudible.

But the screetch was the same, just Ns break fluidly and more often than S and R.

Often on real tires (it really depends on the model though. Economy tires with low grip, low rolling resistance and low noise especially) before the usual high-pitched whine we're accustomed to hear in GT, a low pitched, broadband frequency sliding noise can be heard, especially if the road surface is not very grippy and smooth like the surface of a race track. I'd like to be able to hear that in the game too, this time.

No drifting sorry, just me playing GT5 at Gamescom, so it's a bit old now:

Having a large amount of experience with race cars and road cars I can assure you the tyre screech in that Enzo vid is horrible.

Edit: And stop quoting the vids people!! Jesus Christ have some thought for others...

You are wrong too ;)

It's sounds pretty realistic to me. It's not quite as dynamic as real life, but it is pretty darn close. Real life just seems to hit a little bit lower lows, and slightly higher highs. That's really the only difference I can tell.
