Had a go with an old friend. He is still fast as ever. Might have to dig up my ZZII to see his lowest time..

Nice one with the Tommy! 👍

I was referring to Mr.Calvo, an alfa class AI in his Zonda. He has to be raced against with a very fast car to make him do his lowest race time. Enzo wasn't fast enough for him, at least not when I was driving.. ;)

Calvo eh? I will have to look out for him... thanks for pointing him out!

Cheers

Hi, MTM! *waves.

Sorry, couldn't get to you before - dipped in and out and had to respond to some other posts, but just got back from work and will be seated down for both console and computer activity soon.

Yes! Yes! Calvo! As soon as he appeared at the Beginners I about fell off my chair.
WTF is Calvo doing at the Beginner Level?
Calvo was the maniac that nowayback had to beat to get the Supercar Sorceror Award - and that was at Expert Level.
I did mention a few posts back that I noticed PD were shuffling the AI around; sending Beginner rabbits to the Intermediate for instance. But then, they would give the Rabbit a different initial and a different car. In Calvo's case, however, it's the same Calvo - same initial, same car (You can check this in the Wall of Fame - Post #2)
Basically - they are running Expert Level Rabbits at the Beginner's Seasonal.
Any wonder people are complaining that the Beginners is harder than the Experts?

I can tell you this - having played GT5 to the end offline - PD are the ultimate trolls when it comes to teasing their player base.
I'm enjoying it. :D

Will be back after dinner - and I hope to spend a lot more time in this thread over the weekend - lots of stuff to do.

H.

Same thing again, I can only go faster than Calvo with a ZZII while he is in chase mode. He started out in 3rd place so it slowed him down a bit. Still mighty fast IMO.

We overtook the Vipers together at the beginning of back straight on lap 1. So I was able to pull a lousy 4 second gap on him during little over two laps. Impressed..

nowayback got almost 9 seconds ahead of him. Calvo's 'powerband' is enormous; he has an extremely broad window of 'rubber-banding' speed and if sufficiently taunted will use it. How to trick him into slowing down is the question (if one is only interested in grabbing the win) but if you have a car (and skills) fast enough to 'play' with him he will give you the kind of rush that will have you shaking in no time at all.

I look forward to skinning him every time I go into that Seasonal. He has a great car obviously, and uses it to the max, programmed to stick close enough to make one tingle.

EDIT:
A little more work done on the OP - hope I got everything right - my head is spinning from trying to sort out all the details. We'll try to work some system out soon that'll be more convenient for us all to see at a glance what's happening.
Please check the OP and let me know of any discrepancies.
Still more work to do on the Wall of Fame and other Reserved sections of this thread.

This thread has come a long way - and now has many thoughts, info, records, and other details that may be of immense use to us as we go on to these final laps of GT6 and prepare for the seventh full GT to come.
We may also get a few surprises in the coming weeks that may affect our playing, the AI, and the approach to the game in general as GT6 starts its wind-down.

In the end, when this thread is archived we hope to be able to come back here and view not only what we have done but how it compares to what we will have then. 👍

For now . . . Onward Bound brave Hunters!
Never argue for your limitations!

Gaertner ZZ faster then Calvo Zonda. Started in 3rd and passed Calvo for 2nd. have raced it a few times and ZZ always passes Zonda.
View attachment 405105

Funny.. In my game Gaertner never stands a chance against Calvo. I wonder what's up with that.

WP_20150707_001.jpg

(had to post that result cause it was such an unexpected result. I didn't win but it shows how much faster my Calvo is vs. Gaertner)

Maybe the game improves AI behaviour and speed based on what cars the player uses. If someone for example would always drive a Ferrari 458 and perfect his driving with it, he might get an AI that drives the same car superfast.. Maybe.

Here's my experiences:
Gaertner will always do his best (and worst) to win. Doesn't matter if it's the player or the other AI - he's a vicious little bastard and will brook no interference, grant no quarter, it's just chomp, chomp, chomp, and don't get in his way.
can't ever remember seeing him on pole - but if he is, then he's going to run like a . . . rabbit.
Calvo is fast in the Zonda but no match for the Tommy.

Is it the Tommy that's behaving aggressively?
I don't think so.
I think it's Gaertner.
He must be killed.
Maybe a challenge to see how far back we can put him. And still get the win.

Very interesting.
Why is the Tommy holding back in your game?
IIRC - there is always some distinct differences between the behaviour of your AI and nowayback's
Remember in one of the Experts (maybe the posts are up there somewhere) where you said you cycled many many times but couldn't get Calvo? Or was that Osterhagen we were tracking then?

Try different inputs and let us know - with all the different patterns already programmed in our heads some flag is sure to go up.

Yes, I find this to be happening with my Stewards, too - they definitely react to the car I bring in - and quite often the same car comes in to challenge me.

Last time I remember Calvo appearing was the 550pp (expert?) race at Ascari. Gaertner was there also. I battled nowayback till the end for the fastest AI time, we were both driving Tommys and Calvo was the king-AI for all players. Then suddenly Calvo disappeared on my game, couldn't get him back no matter what I did.

Gaertner was fast back then, but Calvo was faster. Now in my game Gaertner can't even pass Bowers.

Don't know if it matters but I prefer RWD cars myself over everything else. Maybe I have been teaching my AI to drive RWDs at the same time.

"Curiouser and curiouser . . .." :D

Yes, that was the incident I was talking about. You thrashed Calvo into complete submission several times and the Stewards changed their game-play - it was not fast fields they were now giving you, it may have been a different strategy - difficult fields; where you had to work through traffic to get to the front.
This might have meant putting a slow rabbit on pole to slow everyone down, and so even the usually fast leaders start dropping their times.
When you test again keep an eye on the fields, too, and see if any pattern trips a flag.

Gaertner was fast back then, but Calvo was faster. Now in my game Gaertner can't even pass Bowers.

It must be the shuffle in the grid order. Let us know as you play if you notice anything further. It becomes more interesting as we scope out the games competitive strategies; we get more by knowing how to trigger what we want out of it.

Don't know if it matters but I prefer RWD cars myself over everything else. Maybe I have been teaching my AI to drive RWDs at the same time.

I felt this a lot in GT5 - the game mimicking me. Haven't played GT6 in depth enough, yet I have seen that arise and wondered if it was just coincidence. Obviously if the pattern of mimicry is significant then we can assume that the game is 'watching' us (recording, analysing, and using triggers from those equations to 'design' what it's going to give us.)
If we can pin it down firmly and trigger such events at will, then we know that the game is truly intuitive, and that Kaz is building on a foundation where the AI would be absolutely astounding in later evolutions. And even later evolutions.
The AI we're working with now are miles ahead of the AI in many other games in their intelligence, however the intelligence is still young, though a vast improvement from what we had in previous iterations.

If you guys want to set up any challenges any time, let me know - we can keep it casual as long as we watch the time frames - these Seasonals go by so fast.

Congrats to the Baron again for sweeping up awards like nuts in May.
There's a mixed picture for you.

@photonrider ... thanks, I think?!? :lol:

So how does this work in my situation now? I like creating events, but you usually say when and which events to set up... and now since I've somehow amassed 4 trophies, that limits me (to a certain extent), right?

I've read that I'm no longer eligible for certain events... so how do I proceed? If you have the time for details, please spell them out here or in a PM so I can help out as best as I can. ;)

Cheers

The Events that the Licenced Hunters arrange are personal - we don't even advertise them; it's kind of a bare-bones, all sorts of stuff challenges that they throw at each other to test each others skills and their own. The Zytek Affair was one. The Battle at the Ring was another.

MTM sent me some records on the Zytek Affair, and I intend having a small write-up on it in the Rabbit Lore Post up on the front page. Same with the Battle at the Ring. There are no Awards for this. It's our casual meeting ground of Challengers. And the episodes will be recorded 'story-like' in the posts reserved for such Lore on the First Page.
The events are engineered casually, we take our time meeting them, and the point is to have fun doing something extreme with the game.

These are just fun events that the Licenced Hunters arrange because they know they can trust each other; if they say - well everybody use such and such setting, then we know that they are doing something that is strictly among themselves and gentleman's honour (Whoosiergirl proudly included in that hoping she can put up with being merely a gentleman, and not a lady, as she truly is )

They use this thread (it is theirs - ours) to conduct such events among themselves - there is a lot of back and forth as you noticed when they do this and we get to eavesdrop on what they're doing - and learn from them, too.
I quite enjoy following the battle - these Aces give themselves almost impossible challenges and exhibit great skills when trying to meet up with it.
I'm not sure how I managed to wrangle myself into such hallowed company. I must know something about close shaves. :D

The Order of the Rabbit was:
MTM79
Vic-Reign93
nowayback
Whoosiergirl
photonrider
Baron Blitz Red

And this has nothing to do with hierarchy but just the order in which they earned their first 3 trophies.

MTM79 engineered The Zytek Affair, and Vic - the Battle at the Ring, so it's nowayback to figure out something - and here is where we throw those 'public' rules out of the window.

If nowayback says it's all off, 100PP less, etc, we do it. And we can be very sure everybody else on that list will be doing it. We didn't come this far with each other to cheat. :D

After nowayback, it will be Whoosiergirl, and if she's skipped town at the time it's her turn (we can't expect everybody to be around 24/7, and Hunters will drift in and out as their RL permits) we just move on to the next Hunter (me) and after I've thrown the kitchen sink at everybody, then it will be your turn - and you can just give us the most outlandish challenge. We'll try to meet it.

Meanwhile - I think you also won one of the Events that come with a Bonus. So you may design that challenge as per the rules (everything PD permits, and only verifiable settings) anytime, though, of course, you have to remember the Seasonals come and go quick. If you are not ready keep it for the next Seasonals.

Cheers

I see you've reserved a space ^ for that pic of the Prius Touring crossing the finish line at the Horrible Bosses race. :mischievous:

Hey, @Baron Blitz Red - the Amateur Class event you won does not award a Create-an-Event Bonus, but the Beginners Online Seasonal (which you also won) gives you that Bonus. So you can design an event at Monza. (Still on? Haven't been at the console for days. :( )

The other two events go to Vic and Nowayback.

Another note: You cannot take part in Amateur Class events now. You've earned the right to be banned from it. :dopey:
This is a good thing - you are so fast most amateurs don't stand a chance.

Also - the large notes in bold blue are general notes for all (not specifically addressed to any one person) just a refresher as to what we're doing and evolving here.

To be honest, I did design an event for the Beginners event at Monza, but removed it because A: my friend told me even though she thought it was done up with my award winning sense of humour, it was worded in poor taste :guilty: . B: as she is my unofficial testing Guinea Pig, she told me it was too hard to do with the car I chose. :ouch: So back to the drawing board...

Thanks for the compliment... I don't think myself as fast, as that describes people like Vic and a slew of others I've "met", but I think I'm pretty quick for the setup I use (DS3, AT gears). Just like others that race, I am improving however and have left my former self in the dust compared to when I first started racing online. (GT6 is my first real attempt at racing others online)

Cheers

I'll take the intermediate challenge.

Fastest time wins. :)

Also I'll add this photo from the Monza race.

The time isn't the reason for this, but 3 A.I names stood out for me.

First, S. Honda: Soichiro Honda, the founder of Honda and rather fittingly driving a NSX LM Prototype.

Second, R. Schneider: Rob Schneider. Starred in "Big Stan and Deuce Bigalow to name a few movies. :)

Last but by no means least, C. Hendricks, Christina Hendricks.

...

...

What?:P

Expecting me to give a little backstory like the others?

You know exactly why I'm not giving a backstory as the answer is obvious. :sly:

...

...

Ok, I'll say it, she starred in Mad Men. :D:lol:

... she has twin turbos on board!!!  ;)

Obviously.

Even not knowing her I would heartily agree with her sensibilities. Wild ad men need to be controlled.

B: as she is my unofficial testing Guinea Pig, she told me"

Hold on. Hold on. Guinea pig? Where do I get one of these?

It was too hard to do with the car I chose. :ouch: So back to the drawing board...

Yeah, Baron, remember that we want to encourage people to try these challenges and come back with some kind of human-like achievable goal. You don't want to put people in a Midget and send them out to SSRX.
I'm definitely looking forward to whatever you are cooking up, since I can actually take part in it, whether I'm last on the leaderboard or not, doesn't matter, still fun.
I'm banned from Amateur class events, too - but being the host I must take it upon me to present one - shall do so tomorrow (and I'm trying to persuade MTM to do one, too) - as you can see I've got my track suit on again, which means it's time to boogie on the track.
I'm glad you are out of the Amateur Class and give others a chance now to grab a trophy.

All you guys that use DS3's to play this game are the gods of video-gaming.
Play GT with a controller is like playing God of War with a wheel and pedals.
Unimaginable. 👍

So . . . to summerize:

nowayback is going to throw us an Experts challenge
Vic is going to baffle us with something off the Intermediate
The Baron is going to torture us with Beginners mayhem

And . . . if I can get @MTM79 to come up with some Amateur Class challenge?

Anything from the Seasonals or Career Mode (offline) but something that'll encourage newcomers to try a rabbit hunt.
Remember, none of us will be able to enter. An Offline mode challenge can be held longer - the Seasonals will be over soon.

That's a different 'soon' from the 'soon' that Kaz usually uses. :P

OK people, for the Beginner Level A-Spec Seasonal I thought we should try...

Goin to California

I invite one and all to take a trip to Monza using the 2008 Ferrari California to take on the competition in style. Tune to your heart's content to achieve the fastest winning time possible. Have fun racing in a beautiful summer time Italian car on a classic Italian track!

Cheers

And then with the California. I just LOVE this car. Why on earth haven't I driven it before...

That's the advantage of being with the COTW crew for a couple of years now... you think about "what if" concerning the different, unusual and seemingly underused. To be honest, this is the first time I used it here in GT6, but remembered it well in GT5 for offline play. Glad you liked it!

EDIT: Shaved off a bit more time, but still need to improve to catch MTM79. But I'm trying!

Ok just saw results posted, guess I have the expert. Will post event when servers are up again.

If you run out of time setting one up you can hold on till the next Expert's comes up, J.T.

I'll take the Intermediate Challenge.

Fastest time wins. :)

Done. Pass the torch. 👍

Also done. Get your ticket to ride. 👍

When the Seasonals first came on, the California was my first thought - I used it to grind this same race in GT5 - the European C'ships. IIRC. It was just a Sunday drive - this car is deceptively stable, and blindingly fast.
Now I have an excuse to keep grinding.
Had one shot at the race:

photonmonza_zpsacfjopyp.jpg

. . . but as usual 30 seconds behind MTM.
It was such a great race, though, super-clean yet a hard-fought battle, that I had to go back and take pics - after which my console time ran out.
Have to get at it again. With both my Cali's. :D

I'll have to skip the event creation I'm afraid. I have my creativity elsewhere ATM. Nowayback clause?

Heh, hehe, of course my dear buddy - hey! that reminds me - you have to come down and spend some time in the Rumble Strip - there's a great bunch of people in there.
And now that you've been initiated in as a Dad . . .:sly:

Autodromo%20Nazionale%20Monza_27_zpst7mgf2dg.jpg

Guess who's biting my ass and won't let go.

EDIT:

I'm not sure how you guys are getting such fast times. I'm just trying to get to a sub 6:00.

The rabbits that MTM is running run faster than I can. :irked:
